“I’m a little busy! Can’t you see?” The blue skinned warrior scoffed as he was… well, wrestling with another one of the beasts that had come after them. Its maw was getting closer and closer, and judging by the teeth, Talwyn wasn’t too sure about whether or not his stone skin could stop these fangs. When at last he saw an opportunity, he took it without thinking.
Casting a spell, he let loose a devastating blast of fire within the creature’s mouth, causing it fall to the ground as it howled in pain. Not wasting another moment, he grabbed his sword with both hands and slammed it into the creature’s skull. Letting go, he turned to Kaleidyn and pulled the monstrosity that was crushing him off his companion.
Right at that moment, bolts of black and purple energy came crashing down and Tal hurriedly pulled off his cloak, throwing it to the floor. Strange, purple flames were eating away at it and his instincts told him the age old “stop-drop-roll” tactic wasn’t going to work with them.
“Lumina, keeper of light…” He started mumbling as he saw Abbera prepare another spell. “I call upon thy greatness and mercy, and beg of thee to answer my pleas,” The magical energy was starting to gather around him, almost becoming visible. “ from thine heavenly palace, bend the rays of lights and shield me from the incoming darkness!”
As Abbera unleashed a torrent of dark energy at the two, the air in front of them shimmered and the light seemed to refract. “Brace yourself!” Talwyn shouted to his companion as he placed his hands on the shimmering wall of light he had created. Grunting, he funneled even more magical energy into the barrier as Abbera’s dark projectile hit.
Cracks started appearing in the wall, but other than a lot of a dust being kicked up by the impact, nothing happened as both of their magic faded. Dropping to a knee, Talwyn was visibly panting. “Well… let’s hope she doesn’t do that again. We’re lucky she is afraid of causing damage to her hidden laboratory, otherwise I would not have been able to stop that.”
The woman meanwhile, was seething with rage, but she too needed to catch some breath after an attack like that. “Magic like that is too powerful for a human body to handle.” Tal whispered to Kaleidyn. “She’ll recover soon enough, but I suggest you try and end this now. I’ll try to cover you. Go!”
