Echoes of the Past

[JxSlaughter]

He bent his knees, making the water come up to the bottom of his nose. He came up only to speak. From what he was hearing he understood that she couldn't stop whatever it was she was doing. He remembered that she was the only surviver of her home, so her family must have been brutally killed. So much for relaxation. He noticed her trying to shake off thoughts but she was trying to relax. But the fleeting images just kept finding a way back to her.

"You'll see them again." For once, we was actually referring to death itself. "My dad is gone, my mom... will soon follow. But I'm sure we will all see each other again." He smiled. He never thought of death as a bad thing, he knew that sleep always reminded people of death. He believed that like sleep, people would wake up from them. He was hoping that the thought of her seeing and being with her family again one day would make her feel better.

[laraine]

She smiled, but didn't say anything.

I Don't think I will...after this is over, I will only belong to him....

She swallowed, thinking about it. A part of her was terrified. But another part was calm. She couldn't understand this feeling at all.

She zeroed in on Jiru talking about his own family and looked up at him. "I'm sorry for your dad." She said softly.

She realized that maybe she had turned the mood sour with her talking. So, instead then she came up with a wicked plan.

Grinning, she dove fully under water and swam over to Jiru, only lifting her head up to the bridge of her nose. She stared at him, then splashed him with water. Quickly swimming away before he could seek revenge.

[JxSlaughter]

He wiped the water out of his face and hair. "Hey, you!!" He splashed back at her but she quickly evaded. Jiru held his breath and went under the steaming hot water and grabbed her ankles. Hah! Can't get away now!

[laraine]

Echo blinked and looked behind her, he had grabbed a hold of her ankles. She tried to squirm out from his grasp without success. She made a face under water and surfaced with him still grabbing a hold of her.

"Heyyyy!! No fair! lemme go!" Echo whined.

[JxSlaughter]

Jiru let go and started laughing.

[laraine]

Echo made another face and turned to him. "Well someone had to break the doom and gloom ice somehow. And I just know how!" She grinned. Then sprayed him with water again and laughed.

"You look so funny Jiru!!! All wet like a drowned rat!"

[JxSlaughter]

Jiru shook off the water. "I look nothing like a rat!" He stuck his tounge out and her and pounded the water with his fits hitting them both with much more water than Echo's lanky arms could ever do.

[laraine]

Now it was Echo's turn to be drenched. "Why you..." She growled playfully. She dove under the water and swam around behind him, She jumped onto his back, hoping that her extra weight would cause him to lose balance and fall into the water.

AKA Echo's last resort plan. Since she is rather lanky and thin. She put as force as she could to knocking him down with her body.

[JxSlaughter]

Jiru put his arms around her legs and started to give her a piggy back ride. while yelling like a mad dinosaur. He ran around the thinner parts of the water for a little while before jumping down into the deeper end of the water again. He got the water out of his eye and jokingly accused her. "Your crazy Echo!"

[laraine]

"Says the man who just pretended to be a drunk dinosaur." She replied dryly, getting the water out of her ears.

"You call me crazy! I'm 16 I'm quite entitled to be a little nuts.." She grinned. "Besides, you played right along into my evil plan.." She laughed like a villain.

"And c'mon admit it you had funnnn!" She grinned and swam closer to him, trying to get him to agree with her.

[JxSlaughter]

He smiled at her and admitted, "Yes, I had fun." He dragged his body in the water until he got to the edge of the pool. He murmured, "Drunken dinosaur..." Jiru laid outside of the pool, it was really hot for him.

[laraine]

Echo went over to him and poked him a couple times, before getting out of the hot springs herself. The clothes were soaked and stuck to her body like glue.

It was slowly becoming apparent that she was a female, since the clothes stuck so tightly. She noticed the tightness and tried to un stick the clothes from her body. She looked at Jiru and bent down over him.

"Jiru? You dead?" She asked, then poked him again with a sinister grin.

[JxSlaughter]

Jiru moaned. "I am not... dead..." The poking did not do anything. "I am sleepy..." He laid there for a little while longer before he raised his head. "I want some wine." He started to slowly stand up. "After all, tommorrow is a battle!! We should eat like kings tonight!!!" His voice echoed arcoss the area.

[laraine]

"Ow, tone it down Jiru." Echo had covered her ears from his loud voice. Then grinned again. "Sure having wine won't make you more insane? Besides...how will you get back to rest? Someone has to make sure you don't steer the horse into a lake."

The imagery made her laugh. "Why are you so tired? Did I really wear you out? Boy you older people wear out fast."

Echo grinned again, her somewhat true nature shining through when she wasn't in thought about what was to come tomorrow.

Still the darkness lingered in her heart.

"Lets get dressed then and get ready for dinner." She walked over to her corner and started to take off the wet shirt.

After Jiru got dressed again he came back to the counter. The girl wasn't there again and he started to ring the bell very obnoxiously loud again. She came back with a look on her face telling him to stop it. But he just smiled and put took his hand out waiting for her to give him keys to a room. "The biggest one please." She looked in the shelves behind the counter and handed him one. "Room fifteen. You know the one." He took the keys.

He smiled at her again. "Prepare us a feast-- and I want wine."

"You aren't going to share it with your buddy are you?"

"He is perfectly capable of fighting. So he should have the privilege to drink."

She sighed. "Even I were to deny your friend drinks, I'd get in much less trouble if I just allowed it huh?"

"You learn fast."

"It will be up shortly." The woman chuckled. "I didn't know you'd become a drinker."

"Only on special occasions."

She left into the door behind the counter and Jiru ran back upstairs to one of the rooms.

Jiru went outside onto the deck. There was a view of the village from above, and to the side was a fence covering the pool that Echo and him were just in. Knowing that his voice would echo to her exclaimed, "Room fifteen!!!"
