Somehow Jarrah resisted the urge to scowl at Talwyn’s remark about his issue with heights. Rather, he kept his mouth shut during most of the walk, choosing instead to keep his focus on anything but the idea of tumbling off these cliffs.
Once it was decided they would be setting up camp in the cave, he set his things down without a word to the others. He wouldn’t argue about using this way as a shortcut - he didn’t know this area too well, so for all he knew it would indeed cut travel time in half. If the exit was clear, that is. For now he was just glad to be finished climbing around sheered-off hundred foot drops for the day.

Talwyn grinned at Echo's remark about being . "Especially with the amount you seem to devour. I suggest you try and ration your food a little since we have no idea how long we'll be in the mountains." He told her somewhat jokingly as he helped her set up camp in the dark cave. After that was done, he took some of his own rations and started eating slowly while looking deeper into the cave. His mind wandered off on its own again as he ignored the others. Something about him seemed anxious though. Truth be told, he was. In just a few days, maybe a week, he would at long last find a way to rid himself of that monstrous body he so detested. Thinking about that, brought his mind back to his companions. They still had not asked the one question everyone always asked him first. That one question he always dreaded when meeting new people, for it forced him to once again think about that faithful day where his own stupidity and blind lust for power that had put him in this predicament.

Raine would glance at the two every now and again as the silence intensified between them all. She herself was having a hard time hearing the silence and found it impossible to concentrate on her own thoughts. She stared at the fire for a bit, the emptiness inside her was growing. She might need to use other measures to sate her hunger. The two probably already realized that the amount she ate didn't match her body weight at all. But if she didn't eat a lot....
It was getting harder to handle the increasing void within her. She stood up, looking at the two with a slight smile. "I'll be right back, I need to check on something really fast." She waved to them and left the cave, finding a spot where she wouldn't be heard or spotted.
She knelt on the ground and pressed her hands together. "I pray my god appear before me. Your servant wishes your guidance."
She waited a couple of minutes before the familiar figure appeared before her. She gazed up at him and gave a smile. "My master, thank you for visiting me."
"It is more difficult now a days isn't it my lovely Echo? Those two seem to be around quite a lot." He was smiling, but the edge in his voice worried her.
Is he angry? Because I'm forgetting my mission?
"I-I'm Sorry Master. I promise after this is done I will continue my search, I did kill a few of those bandits like before." Looking down, Echo refused to meet his eyes.
He sighed and brought a hand to her face. "My dear Echo, you felt it...right? You are running out of time...I can't help you for much longer. Be quick about this........"
Echo nodded, gazing up into her god's blood red eyes. His glowing form was hovering above her a inch from the ground, his red robe gliding across his body as if it was nothing more than air. His long silver hair was shimmering in the moonlight.
Thinking about how beautiful he was in the moonlight made Echo turn away. "I know my lord, just give me more time.." she whispered.
His youthful face smiled and he bent over to meet her eyes. "If you want more time..you know what you must do."

At some point Jarrah leaned back against the cave wall and let his eyes drift closed. It may have looked like he had drifted off to sleep, but really he was pondering a couple things. It was easier to do without any visual distractions.
For starters, Echo had wandered off again. Already that was the second time in the few days since he'd run into her. Perhaps it was nothing and just a habit of hers, yet something about it struck him as odd. He couldn't begin to guess what it might have been, though, or if it was even something worth being concerned with.
He wondered, too, what Talwyn's reaction would be after they reached the temple and got a hold of the scrolls. If the place was the same as it used to be, then they had a few mages on hand who specialized in undoing spells and curses and would be able to use the scrolls properly. It wouldn't take much to convince one of them to help out Tal - these guys were pretty cooperative.
But in order to accomplish anything, they would have to sit down with him and ask a lot of probing personal questions to ensure no mistakes were made. It became clear early on that Talwyn wasn't thrilled at the idea of discussing what had happened to him. And Jarrah could sympathize with that. But Talwyn was going to have to be willing to relive it if he wanted to undo what was done to him.
Jarrah probably should have mentioned that at the beginning, but it could wait. He'd bring it up once they were out of the mountains...
