"James" was about to place another accurate blow on the beast, when suddenly the wind and sand began to form around him. At first he sneered, prepared to fend off another beast, when he realized it was that Gria geomancer meddling with the ground. He smiled and realized he was cutting off themf romt he rest of the beetles and civilians. The obviously was angered byt his and screamed, creating large cracks in the ground, large gaping maws in the land trying to send James plummeting to his death. James quickly leaped to the side, keeping from falling to his death. He growled a monstrous growl and kicked off again onto the monsters chest as it attempted to spit acidic venom onto him. He ran up the monsters tremendous abdomen, and slashed furiously, creating large gashes all along the monsters body. He reached it's head and stabbed through it's last good eye, completely blinding it as it let out an ear splitting shriek once more. James sneered and lifted his sword once more. " This is boring." he shouted and jumped high into the air, above the . He gathered up all his strength and threw his sword with all his might, the red gem upon it blazing. THe sword struck the 's head, seemingly uneffecting it. but shoclkingly, it continued to go, cutting the clean in two! He landed safely on his feet, and glanced up smirking as he watched the simplly fall into two grotesque pieces, oozing black blood and falling deep into the holes in the earth, it's own mass causing the sand and ground to collapse back into place. THe only thing left of the massacre was the black blood and guts of the beast, it's severed limbs, and of course the sword. James laughed and walked to the spot, picking up the blade and shaking off the goop, turning around to the Gria and frowning." You can cut the crap now kid." he shouted.

Vet struggled to uphold his spell as he carefully dodged the acidic venom the was launching at the elf. I hope this elf can pull this off soon...can't hold this much longer...Just then the elf launched up towards the , preforming a series of maneuvers, by the time the elf was finished, the was in two separate pieces. Vet was filled with relief as he watched the shriek for the last time and fall dead to the ground. Upon hearing word from the elf, Vetis cut off his spell, the dome of sand collapsing harmlessly to the ground. The dome gone, the armada of sand beetles screeched in horror as they gazed upon the carcass of their dead . The Sand Beetles, now leaderless and in shock, all took off from the ground at once, filling the air with their horrid insect cries. Seemingly in seconds, the town was devoid of all the surviving Beetles, their silhouettes fading into the distance. The Gria staggered to his feet, and approached the elf with his hand out. "Hey, that was some work out there, by the way I'm Vetis, but you can call me Vet, what is you-" An overwhelming sense of exhaustion took over Vet's senses. He wavered for a moment before he blacked out, his limp body falling softly to the sandy ground.

James watched as the beetles all took flight and he laughed hysterically. "That's right, go home to Mommy! Oh wait, she's in two isn't she you miserable insects!" he shouted after them, laughing, wiping the blood off his blade and tasting it. He grimaced and spat. "NOte to self, beetle blood unacceptable." He turned to the Gria who was walking towards him his hand extended. He was about to chew the kid out for approaching him as such when the Gria suddenly collapsed. James rolled his eyes and hoisted the kid up onto his shoulders. "Mortals, such useless toys." he growled, walking towards the inn.
James Placed the kid onto a bed, mending the nicks and scratches the Gria had suffered. He sheathed his sword and stood watch over him, wondering why he didn't slit his throat that moment. Suddenly, he grasped his head again and growled. "No, not yet! I was having fun!" he screamed, before he also collapsed to the ground, his hair shortening and becoming black once more, and when he awoke, his eyes were the cool marble blue they always were. He sat back up on the chair beside the Gria's bed, exhausted, waiting him to awaken. He had purposely left the stranger oustide, not trusting him.

Vetis awoke but made sure not to open his eyes. He had no idea where he was, all he knew was that he was comfortable, exhausted, and somewhere he hadn't been when he had originally blacked out. God I hope I haven't been arrested...That would definitely make things difficult...
Vet slowly rolled over, pretending to still be asleep. He discreetly opened one of his eyes, but only to the point where he could see silhouettes of what was around him. He made out the figure of a humanoid sitting in a chair next to him, however the rest of the room was bland and unrecognizable to Vet.
All of a sudden, memory of the past events flooded Vet's mind, He quickly sat up from his bed and observed his surrounding in full. Sitting in the chair next to him was the elf who had helped him fend off the beetles, and presumably carried him into this room. Vet scowled, he could have sworn the elf had looked quite different during the fight but shrugged it off.
Forming his trademark sly smile and stretching his Gria wings, Vetis made eye contact with the elf. "Thanks for the help elf, that was some work we did out there! Thought I was screwed for sure... I'm Vet by the way, I can't really remember if I've told you that already or not..."

James bowed his head humbly. "Glad to see you awake once mroe my friend. I am James Tekkarro. And we did simply what we should have...I...actually can't recall msot of the battle, but we msut have been some combination huh?" he smiled kindly, alreadys tudying the man's eyes, seeing into his soul tyring to read him. Purity warped by what, greed, anger? No, simple misdoings had lead him astray. James looked around and sighed. "Sorry about the room, but it is the only inn for miles around. And the innkeeper said we were allowed a free stay at the inn whenever for fending off the beetles." he smiled again. "So, Vet? Tell me about yourself, where are you from?"

In hearing the Elf's question about his past, Vet's heart sank and his cheeks turned a rosy pink. "Um, well you see, I...I don't really like to talk about it, I hope you understand..."
Vet began to shy away from the Elf when he decided to change the subject. "Why don't we go outside and see whats happened to the town. I'm surprised you found a running inn after all that mess!" Vet was genuinely interested in seeing what the town looked like after the insect assault, and if there was anything valuable left behind by any of the...unfortunate...villagers.
Jumping up from the bed, Vet stretched his wings once more, ruffled his messy hair, and headed downstairs and outside of the inn.
Upon exiting the building, Vet observed the surrounding area. Building were in ruins, the bodies of both men and insect alike could be found everywhere. The desolate desert winds and tumbleweed only added to the aura of desolation that resided over the ghost town.
Vet didn't check to see if James was still with him, his mind was set on one thing, loot. Vet crouched over by the nearest body and began to shuffle through the corpse's former belongings. The dead, lifeless eyes stared sightlessly into the desert sky and the odor let off by the hundreds of rotting, sunbaked bodies was nauseating. Vet paid no mind to these things as he grabbed a few gold coins out of a pocket on the dead mans satchel. With a sly smile, Vet said "He won't be needing these anytime soon!" and pocketed the treasure. He then proceeded to search through other nearby corpses.

James was amazed at how quickly Vet had recovered, leaping to his feet and running outside. James also followed him, looking at the massacre before him, a knot forming in his gut. A deep laugh echoed through his head and he gritted his teeth, knowing what must be done for these poor souls. Ignoring the insensitive Gria looting the victims, James took his pouch form his waist and began going to the bodies, placing a powder on its forehead in an intricate symbol. James them sprinkled some nearby sand on the man's eyes and bowed his head, his eyes closed. HE said a silent prayer in his native tongue, giving the ancient funeral rites, a small ball of light floating from the man's chest into the sky, as his body burst into a white flame, leaving nothing but a small ball of ash. James nodded and proceeded to the next corpse, one after the other.

Vet continued his operations until he realized the Elf was also outside, doing some strange ritual to the bodies of the dead villagers. Carefully placing all the coins he had retrieved into a pouch on his waist, Vet walked up to the Elf.
"Sure looks pretty dead, this place I mean." Vet looked over to the horizon where the sun was still rising, the wind gently ruffled his hair. "So what do you suppose we do now?"

James finished releasing the souls of all the recently deceased, this would prevent them from coming back as monsters or worse, demons. HE looked up as Vet came over to him. He glanced around, eyeing the ruins of the town, smoldering and crushed houses. He shook his head in pity and shrugged. "I don't know exactly. I guess we can't lodge here for the night. We'll have to leave these folks to rebuild themselves." he explained to the Gria. HE turned and began walking toward the next city, one on the far off horizon, as the sun finally set. A voice rang through James's head, "What, you arn't going to help them?" he whispered. James smiled and shook his head. "I'm a prince, not a saint." he whispered.
