"Your right. I guess I'll spend the last that I have." Tal-rasha eventually picked up a medium length sword. Though he managed to keep his knife and the magical item from the witch.
"Alright!" He said with excitement. "Lets, do this!"
Tal hopped onto his steed, and pointed in a random direction, smiling at the thought of adventure-- with his new friend.

Markus, now sitting atop his own horse, said with a kind of dry humor permeating his voice "Umm, it's this way." Pointing in the exact opposite direction that Tal was pointing. He then gave a small chuckle at Tal's admirable, yet reckless, eagerness.
Eying the sun, already slowly making it's way toward the horizon, Markus said "We haven't much daylight left to us today. If we can make it deep enough into the woods, we should be able to construct a suitable camp."

"Alright! That way!" Tal followed, quickly correcting himself and turning his horse on a dime.
On the comment of setting up camp, Tal replied, "Since we will be some-what near town we should have some good sleep, as thieves and monsters tend to attack farther away from civilization."
"Lets take the opportunity to sleep one last peaceful sleep." Though it could be taken the wrong way, with Tal's cheerful attitude he merely was looking forward to sleeping before a long journey, and not anything further than that. After all, who knows what would become of them after leaving the relatively safe town.

The two trotted along a well traveled path, that soon became less and less tame. The more the path forked off in different directions, the harder it was to continue. Though when the entirety of the path turned off to another direction, without missing a beat, they trudged through. creating their own path through the wild undergrowth. As the sky turned a yellowish pink, Markus halted in front of a large boulder. The bolder itself almost created half a lean-to. 'Perfect' Markus thought.
Hopping off his horse and leading it over to the bolder, Markus said "If you would Mr. Rasha, could you please clear a space for us under that rock there? I'm going after some fire wood, and perhaps some lichen to sleep on."

When Markus started leading off the path, Tal knew it was most likely time to start camping soon. Either that or Markus couldn't see the road. He smiled to himself.
Tal got off his horse and put his next to Markus's. He stood next to them for a moment, to make sure they weren't going to bolt. You never knew with cheap horses...
He begun to get busy with the shelter under the boulder. 'What's lichen?' He asked himself, before asking Markus out loud. "Hey Markus, what's lichen?"
Tal had always just slept on or in a tree, or on the bare grounds of any other kind of shelter he could find.

"It's like moss...But it's easier to find in this particular area." grabbing a hand-full of pale-green, thick, almost coral-like in it's structure, spongy mass off the nearest tree. Then handing it to Tal, to sate his curiosity.
"I shouldn't be long, it's been dry for quite a few days now." And with that Markus disappeared into the undergrowth.

Tal rasha finished making the shelter. He wiped off the sweat from his forehead and called it a job well done. At a second glace, he thought he saw some dirt move. He didn't reach his hand in, unsure of what he could find. Tal turned to find a decent sized rock. He picked it up and tossed it at the ground.
An instant later a snake popped up. He jumped a bit at the surprise. Thankfully it was not a poisonous one, he knew because he lived in the wild long enough to know. He ran around to find something to beat it with, and found a piece of wood big enough. He beat at it until it was dead.
"Yumm... Free dinner."
Just to make sure he went back into the shelter and felt at the ground to make sure there was nothing left. There was a worm... but nothing else.

Markus came back a while later, carrying his cloak like a sack over his shoulder, filled to bloatation with lichen. And over the other shoulder, he carried a large bundle of thick branches and twigs, tightly roped together. Marks laid down the wood at the "opening" of their shelter. Then emptied the contents of his cloak, turned sack, onto the cleared space under the bolder
Not saying a word Markus meticulously separated all the wood by size and estimated burn duration. Then he made a tight triangle out of six of the largest pieces, fulling the center with small, easy to light, twigs and dry grass. The tip of Markus's index finger stated to glow, a faintly blue, white. Then he glanced over at Tal, as if narcissisticly thinking this might impress him. Touching his glowing, and now searingly painful, finger to some of the tinder, it ignited quite easily.
"So" Markus said as he shook his cloak clean, then put it back on. "What do you think you'll be able to take away from this journey?" Thinking amongst his collective for a second then, "I hope that clearing your conscience isn't all that you're after...In fact I'd be a bit surprised and disappointed if it was."

Tal watched with curiosity when Markus organized his twigs. Tal had always just tossed them in carelessly when he felt it needed more tinder. What Markus was doing seemed a little... compulsive though.
Before the fire started he smiled pleasantly as Markus used his power to light it. He didn't envy him, but knew that it would be fun and convenient to have special powers.
"I don't know, but I know I will come out with something. That's always what happens during adventures right? The first adventure when I left home I learned about living away from civilization. The second time I met a girl." Tal looked at Markus's hand. "Maybe this time I'll gain powers and become stronger." He chuckled, before kicking back on the lichen. "You never know."
Tal recalled a while earlier. "Hey, I found this..." He pulled out snake he skilled from the corner of the shelter. It was colored like that ground so it camouflaged well, and the tail wiggled as the nerves were still active.

Markus laid back against the bolder, and gave Tal an affirmative, "Have at it, I'm sure it'll be a good meal." Markus then let his gaze wander, scanning the area for movement. Trying not to focus on any one thing for too long. Watching, as the light from the sky turned into the dancing yellow and orange of the fire.

"Did you really think I would share with you?" He eyed Markus for a moment. "Nah, I'm just kidding, of course!!"
Tal-rasha found a stick nearby and put it through the snake like a barbecue. Eventually the snake truly stopped moving. In time it became crispy on some parts, and then he knew it was ready. He peeled a part of the skin away, eating that-- and when the flesh was revealed he picked up chunks of the meat too. It was not a large snake, but it was significant. He held the snake closer to Markus, beckoning him to take some before he ate it all.
This would save them the food they bought for later when food was scarce.

Markus grabbed about a third of the snake flesh. "Thank you." He ate cautiously still eying the forest. But before he knew it he was done, and becoming drowsy. But a sudden rustling of a bush, about twenty meters away, drew his attention. Markus popped into a tight crouch, ready to pounce on the presumed enemy. But seconds later two small birds came out of the bush, one being chased by the other, almost in a dancing motion. Markus then gave a muddled sigh of relies, embarrassment, and disappointment.
Markus became agitated with himself. He was imagining the horrors that awaited them, and becoming paranoid for it. 'This isn't like me' 'No it isn't, you need to relax while you can Markus.' thought Mercury.

"Well I'm gonna crash for the night!" Tal-rasha said, breaking the silence of everyone's thoughts. Tal-rasha plopped himself down in the shelter, though it was difficult for him to fall asleep. He knew that he could trust Markus, but he couldn't help but always feel vulnerable when laying down. He had slept on his own away from much of anyone since he left his gang. It is going to be something to get his mind used to. He assured himself that Markus would be somewhat of a protector for him, and tried to imagine that he would blast any danger away with his powers. But at times, he imagined Markus aiming his lightning at him. It was hard to control the mind at night. Only after a couple of hours was he able to fall asleep.

Markus unfocused his eyes and surveyed the dark forest as broadly as he could. Only focusing on sudden movements for a second or two, to confirm their harmless nature. He remained like that, unblinking for several hours. But was finally persuaded by exhaustion to lean against the bolder and relinquish himself to sleep.
He then faded into the vision of the path that laid before them. But this time things seemed darker or danker somehow. Everything seemed much older this time, looking as if it hadn't been disturbed in many years. Dust covered the walls of the outer chambers in a greyish film. But as Markus descended deeper the chambers and halls were becoming damp, and soon were covered in a mold-like growth. As he noticed this, there also seemed to be a warmth, that seemed to grow as the presence of mold decreased. As the vision neared it's end in the catacombs, the feeling of heat had become nearly unbearable. As the final door was reached, a light could be seen from the cracks between the door and it's frame. Markus wanted the vision to continue, wanted to know what had changed behind that door, but he was jolted awake.
Markus sat up to see the sky just beginning to turn a blueish-grey. He then stood and stretched, glancing over at Tal-rasha as he finished.

Easily disturbed by old habits of nature, Tal-rasha awakened. Not in his usual manner however. He opened his heavy eyelids and looked up at Markus for a brief moment. "Sleep well?" He said, in a slightly teasing matter as he assumed Markus had a nightmare of some sorts. Tal-rasha laid back-down on the ground. Lifting his head slightly off the ground rather lazily, he itched it. "Is it time to get up yet?" He said, without moaning, but still hinting of complaint. The hardest part of his day was getting up. It always felt like dreams were a much more merciful and happy place than reality, even including the nightmares. He eventually managed to sit up, and he rubbed his eyes a bit, trying to get any dirt and sand off.
