Garrett was born a city elf, the poorest of the poor, the unwanted and the unwelcome huddled on the other side of the wall that separates them from the human part of the city. They are only allowed to go there to work on the docks or in their taverns and in their homes. So as a young boy Garrett worked as a stable boy under a human overlord, but on one unfortunate day the stable turned into a searing inferno because of one lone lightning strike that sent flames rolling over the roof and stalls of the stable. Garrett was trying to make sure all the horses made it out before the fire hurt them but while releasing the last few one scared stallion sent his hooves up into the air and came down upon Garrett’s head as it ran out of. The young boy fell to the ground his eyesight going hazy until it suddenly faded totally away and the boy because unconscious. Luckily the boy was at the opening of the stable when he was knocked out and a passing man saw the young boy and took him to safety. But when the boy awoke his world was still dark, and his eyesight never returned.
Garrett had always lived under the heavy thumb of a human overlord but after that night his world changed forever. The kind man that had taken him in was a human man named Duncan, Garrett never learned of his last name. Duncan taught the boy how to “see” again by using his senses to tell about his surroundings and to use a stick to make sure he didn’t trip or run into anything. But once his training was done the man had to leave, the only real friend Garrett had, left him at the city. Garrett knew the man had to leave but it still hurt him. As the year’s pasted the boy grew, but during the years the human overlords pushed him around for his inability to see and after that night most would not give him work and laughed when he asked. Soon he was unable to buy food for himself and his family. So knowing he was of no use to his family he ran off one night as well as being chased out by guards for being out of the alienage at night. Any elf caught outside the alienage at night is likely to be mistaken for a sneak, a thief or a pickpocket and to be honest, most of the ones that stay out there at night usually are. He was able to find his way out of the city but in a pretty rough way, after running into a few walls and tripping the guards caught up with him and well...let’s just say Garrett left the city a little worse for wear but he was happy he was still alive and finally out of that awful city and he actually left with a new friend. One of the guard’s Mabari, a war dog, turned on his master and decided to follow the elf out into the wild.
Even though the elf was blind he was soon able to find his way, with the help of his new Mabari friend, to a small band of Dalish Elves. The Dalish are those elves who proudly refuse to live in human cities, proudly wandering the most remote corners of the wild lands in small clans so Garrett being born a city elf was allowed to join them since he ran off on his own, but was seen as an helpless outsider by a few of the elves for his inability to see. But during his time with the Dalish, Garrett proved himself as a hunter by going out into the forest and bring back the pelt of an animal he killed himself.
Garrett bares no tattoos as some of the other elves but he has a very distinctive feature. His eyes, when open a person could see they were white and blank, but yet still had a fire in them and a small tinge of green left of his original eye color. The male elf looks pretty young with long flowing blonde hair. He wears a set of Dalish made leather armor, leather gloves, and leather boots as well as a small dagger was attached to his leather belt.
