After a little bit Avalon started to slowly come to her senses. She realized she was being carried. She moaned a bit and opened her eyes. She recognized the back that she was looking down upon and weakly said Guang's name. She wrapped her arm around him as he eased her down on the ground. As she sat down on the ground she rubbed her back and noticed that the deep cuts were gone but her shirt was shredded. She blushed and reached for the combined bags. She rifled through it and found a spare shirt. She reached up taking her traveling hooded robe off and then shafted to unbutton her shirt. She eased forward onto her knees and took the shirt off. She shook out the other white button up blouse and dug into the bag one more time pulling out a black corset and slipped it on. She gathered her hair into her hand and pulled it to the side and looked up and Guang. "Would you be so kind as to tie this love?" She asked as she smiled sweetly knowing her got an eyeful. "Thank you for saving me. What happened back at the river? I don't remember I blacked out." She raided her right hand to her forehead and rubbed it. As he finished lacing her corset up she turned to face him and wrapped her arm around his neck and pulled him in close for a deep passionate kiss. She pulled back a bit breathing hard and resting her forehead against his and whispered, "what would I ever do with out you?"

Guang was glad when Avalon awoke because he was beginning to tire and had not made much progress in the last hour or so. He watched her change, enjoying the view he received as she was changing. He helped tie her corset and reveled in her kiss. He wished they had the time to explore that more but he knew they did not.
Taking her hand, he continued on, walking at a slower pace to make it easier on her. As he went, he explained what he thought had happened to her at the river. "Do you not know? Is this not one of your potential powers?"
They walked on for another hour before coming to a small stand of trees, circled around an open area. Guang quickly went to one and felt around, causing a secret opening to appear in the trunk of the giant tree. Guang signaled for Avalon to wait and then went inside.
A minute later he was back and brought her inside, shutting the entrance behind them. Inside the tree was a small room that could house four or five people, but had no evidence from the outside.
Guang sat the pack down and went to a chair, flopping into it. "We should be able to rest here until tomorrow," he said, sighing heavily.

Avalon stepped inside as Guang motioned for her to come in. She sighed heavily as she sat her traveling tunic on the floor and stretched. She unhooked her sword and dagger and laid then upon the table. She then crossed the room and sat down in one of the chairs smiling as she gazed at Guang. "My powers are fairly new compared to the magics I have squired over the years. The magics I know are taught through scrolls and months even years of training. The powers the goddess have given me are different like they were locked away inside me awaiting a key to unlock them. It's like I've known of them all along, I've just never known they were there." She shook her head hoping Guang knew what she meant. "So where are we? How much longer until we get to the temple?" She asked as she fingered the amulet around her throat. "I wonder if its the same for the rest of them?" She asked as her blue eyes locked with Guang with a hint of suggestion in her voice. The suggesting tone made it seem like she knew something he did not. She sighed again, stood up and shook out her traveling robe. She reached behind her back and slipped the lace with her finger tip, removing her corset as she adjusted a few things making a make shift bed on the floor. She laid down and covered herself up with her robe and stared at the ceiling.

Guang waited until Avalon was laying down before he spoke. "I'm not sure what the others are going through. You had help in reviving your powers. They may not have had that interaction yet...and if you have to convince them without the help of the goddess, you might not have much luck."
Guang stood and told Avalon he would be back in a few minutes. He went outside and did some backtracking, making false trails and erasing their trail to the tree. He retreated to the tree and went inside. Avalon was still laying on the floor, gazing at the ceiling.
"We are within a day's walk of the Gnorash...so maybe another two days to the temple," he said, answering her earlier question. "We will have to go a little slower to make sure the Gnorc does not come after us and to make sure we don't run into any Gnorash guards. They are not the friendliest at times either..."
Guang pulled food out of his pack and offered it to Avalon. He sat down at the table and ate mechanically...not sure what they would do if they ran into the Gnorash. Both remained silent while eating, lot in their own reveries.

Avalon laid back down and started trying to go to sleep. She tossed and turned as she laid next to Guang for a while. She hoped her restlessness wouldn't keep him awake. She sat up and tucked her knees up to her chest. She scanned the room and noticed something in the corner of the darkened room that she didn't when the room was lit. She gently got up trying not to wake Guang and silently crept to the object in the corner that was emmiting a pale earthy green glow. It was on the floor and was underneith a small table, like it was carelessly discarded. Avalon bent down and hesitantly reached her hand under the table and reached for the object. She retracted her hand hand found that her fingers were wrapped around a ring with a pale dusty green jewel. She blew the dust from the ring and noticed that the carvings in it were of vines and leaves. She placed the ring on her finger and admired it, she giggled a bit when she noticed that the ring was bigger than her finger. She slipped the ring from her finger and silently walked back over to Guang as he slept. As she drew closer to Guang the soft glow got brighter on the ring. She gasped as she looked back down at the ring in her palm which was now glowing more feverishly. She lost her footing as she stared at the ring and wound up tumbling head first into Guang's chest waking him instantly. "Guang I'm so sorry that I woke you but you have got to see this!" She exclaimed as she held up the glowing ring to Guang. "You know how Galatea told me that I would be drawn to the others..." She looked at the ring. "You don't think?" She moved to sit next to Guang as she placed the ring into his palm. As soon as the ring touched his flesh there was a flash of bright light that filled the room. Avalon yelped and reached for her sword at the sudden burst of light. As the light deminished a woman stood before them. She wore a flowing green dress, jade green eyes and long sun colored hair that was pushed back behind her long pointed elvish ears. She smiled sweetly as she spoke. "I am Terra, Goddess of the Earth. Guang just like Avalon you have been chosen to help protect this world from the perils that lie ahead. I deem you my champion..." She moved towards Guang and took the ring then placed it on his finger. She smiled and touched his chest and bright lights in the shape of leaves swirled around Guang, the leaves moved around him so fast Avalon could no longer see him. Avalon watched in wonder as the light faded and Guang stood in glimmering green armor. "This world is about to be shaken to the core by the events that are to come. You and Avalon must protect it. You may not know it yet but you are heroes. You must not lose faith, take strength in your new powers, trust them they will guide you. Call upon the Earth when you are in danger and it will help you." Terra kissed Guang on the forehead and faded away. Avalon marveled at Guang's new armor. She approached Guang and smiled as she ran her finger tips over his jade green armor. Leaves decorated it with gold vines. She locked eyes with Guang and smiled as she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. "Your one of us! Your armor is amazing. She said you can control the Earth like I can control the waters. I never knew..." She leaned back in to kiss him, as she kissed him the armor glowed and disappeared back into the ring.

Guang was stunned as he looked down at the ring. It seemed odd that he should be deemed a champion of anyone, let alone a goddess of the Earth. He remembered the feel of the armor and the power he could feel pulsing from the ring.
Guang did not consider himself heroic, although he knew others did, including Avalon. He loved that she found him heroic and wanted to be part of his life, but he knew this trek might be tough on both of them. He doubted the armor and his appointment by the goddess would keep him safe from the entire Gnorash army.
Thinking of the Gnorash and the possibility of a fight made him grimace inwardly. He was not sure what was going to happen when they reached the Gnorash, but he doubted a magic ring would intimidate them too much...
Guang had these thoughts while kissing Avalon and he finally pulled back for air. "I don't understand why I am the champion...I don't have any magic in my family tree and the Gnorash have not had many magic wielders in their lineage...ever." Guang shook his head confused with Avalon's arms still wrapped around him.

Avalon smiled at him and spoke, "I can see why the goddess chose you. It not because of your magical status, it's because you have the heart of a hero. I see it by the way you look at me with such compassion. Your stronger than you think you are." She moved away from him and sat down on the make shift bed. "I came from a dead and forgotten kingdom and the goddess chose me, I don't see why I was chosen either. I am a princess that was set on vengeance and bloody revenge just to reclaim my crown and bring what's left of my people peace and a home." She looked down ashamed at her recent comment. "I love you Guang..." Her voice cracked as a tear slid down her cheek and she laid down on the make shift bed. "I believe in you Guang, I'm just having doubts about myself." She said as Guang laid down next to her. She cuddled up next to him and buried her face into his chest.

It was morning when Guang moved again. Avalon and Guang had slept the night through, holding each other close and being there. Neither had said a word, just holding onto each other and the love they had for one another.
Guang slid from beneath Avalon's arms and went to check the perimeter. As far as he could see, no one had been around. Creating a few more false trails, he erased signs of having been there again and re-entered.
The morning chore had given him time to think and he had considered well. He was not excited to be chosen as a champion, but he would do what he could. Thinking positively, he made a makeshift meal from the supplies and went to wake Avalon. If they hurried, they might reach the Gnorash by nightfall.

Avalon awoke as Guang came back. She stood dusting herself off and gathering her things. She looked at Guang and smiled thinking to herself that she was glad that she was not alone. "So what's the plan?" She asked Guang as she reached up and touched her amulet. "Do you think there are others besides us that can use these powers? When I was a child in the palace my father used to tell my sister and I stories about the legendary armor and their wielders. I just never thought I would be one..." She trailed off as her voice broke a bit while she was fighting back the emotions that always crept up on her when she thought of her family and how they were so happy together, thinking that no one should ever take her family away from her. She slid her hand up to wipe the single tear that formed in her eye away before Guang could see it.

Guang didn't speak as they ate. He wanted to consider her question about others. It seemed like no one had these powers until they had been chosen. Guang had not had them prior to being chosen...and if they had not come to this hideout, he might not have been chosen. So, maybe the others were the same way? They might not know until they came into contact with both them AND a guardian? It was not encouraging.
Guang packed up and they left the hideout. Guang erased the trails again and they headed off towards the Gnorash. Guang explained his morning thoughts to Avalon as they walked, trying to sound positive, but still confused.
"At the end of the day, we might have to consider that it will be just you and me to fulfill the wishes of our guardians."

Heading Guang speak of the unknown made her suddenly fear what she was. She only knew of the tales her father told her of the armor. What if this armor was not a blessing but a curse. What if instead of saving the world the armor brought impending doom. Fear took over her as she shook her had and ran into Guang's arms shivering a bit. What if they were truly alone.... "Guang no matter what I will always have your back. I fear we may be the only ones too. A question just arose in my head. What if the gods are using us to bring about the doom of us all. What if this is the gods twisted ways of entrainment? Guang what if the gods ask you to turn your sword on me and slay me....?" Her voice broke as she buried her face deeper into his shoulder.

Guang soothingly stroked Avalon's hair as she shivered. He smiled and laughed a deep chuckle. He pulled her back and looked her in the eye. "If they ask me to slay you, they have definitely chosen the wrong man." He smiled and hugged her again. He released her, shouldered a pack, and headed on into the Selkia.
******************* Guang and Avalon reached an open clearing shaded by trees around mid-afternoon. Guang had Avalon remain where she was and he scouted the perimeter. Satisfied, he called her down to the shore of a little lake.
Guang looked around sadly, remembering a time he had come here in the past and been saved by the act of his best friend at the time. The three little lakes twinkled back at him where the sun hit at random spots. It had been a long time since he had returned.
Sighing, he turned to Avalon. "We should eat something and rest here a while. It might be better to try stealth to get through to the temple in Gnorash lands."
He sat, opened his pack, and passed out some food. Silently, they ate.

Avalon sat closely to Gang as they ate in silence. She smiled at the serene beauty of the area. The water glittering in the sun made her worries melt away and made her heart feel some what at ease. She turned to Gang and wrapped her arm around him, kissing his neck as she leaned in. The area made her feel at peace and she felt safe next to Guang. She laid back in the grass and looked to the sky. "What's your plans after we complete the quests given to us by the Gods?" She asked suddenly gazing up at Guang.

Guang took a swig of water, swishing it in his mouth, before swallowing. He was not sure how to answer Avalon's question so he wanted to give himself a few seconds to prepare.
"I'm not sure. I haven't been sure of what I was doing with my life for a long time," he started, his voice soft, almost as if he was talking to himself and looking for guidance.
"I have lived the last several years in Tamasha, traveling and doing odd jobs in my skill set. I am good at what I do and I have been fortunate where many are not." He paused and took another drink of water from the canteen, watching the light bounce off the crystal lakes.
"Lately, I have felt adrift, with no idea what I will do the next day, the day after and so on." He turned to face Avalon. "Then I met you. Your purpose became my purpose and it was more than just a need to have a purpose...it was born of a commonness of background to a degree and then by love."
He turned and stared back at the shimmering waters again. "After the quests, if we survive, I am not sure what I will do. Wherever I got and whatever I do, I hope to have a life somewhere with you. It would be....more than I ever expected..."
Guang stared off into space for a few minutes and then turned to Avalon again. "But first we must fulfill these quests. That will be a daunting enough task I fear." He smiled and held her close.

Avalon smiled as he held her then she abruptly stood up. she grabbed her pack and looked around. " well we're not going to get there by just sitting here." she giggled as she walked down to the water and filled her canister. she turned back to Guang and motioned for him to do the same. a few moments passed and she heard a bubbling and gurgling of the water behind her. slowly turning to the water she seen something emerging slowly. A human was coming ot of the water, a male with long dark hair covering his face and a rusted sword in his hand. Backing up quickly Avalon dropped her pack and drew her sword. The man approached Guang and her poised for attack as the water dripped from his body.
