Kimara dropped the voice whisper being used and stood. While not an imposing figure, the cloak gave a sense of breadth that few other things could do. Kimara strode over to the table and sat down across from the elf girl...the cowl still covering any aspect of the face beneath.
"Like most of your kind, you assume the only way to travel and travel fast is by horse...especially those that are bred for speed." The voice was the same whisper, but this time not amplified in the same way as it had been before.
Kimara leaned in over the table, separating the two now by a few mere inches. "As for a reason to journey with you....let's just say that you have your deeds in life and I have mine. Besides, I make a suitable companion." Kimara stopped for a minute and smiled beneath the exterior of the hood. "Glory is not something I relish nor need." Kimara chuckled lightly.
"What will it be?"

Caerys didn't look up nor payed attention to the person sitting in front of her. She was just nodding sometimes but she actually paying more attention to the scroll in her hands.
Eventually she put the scroll away, in her back. Then she unsheated her small dagger. She placed it pointing downwards on the table and with a small flick of her hand the dagger started spinning while balancing on the point. "Such decisions are not for me choose." Her voice was more off-wordly now ,her left eye had a sky blue color and it seemed to be covered by some sort of barrier.
Suddenly the dagger fell perfectly on its side. Caerys grinned. "I see." Her two coloured eyes looked at the person. "Someone that hides his or her face has something to hide. People that have something to hide can't be trusted. Before i recieve an answer you must reveal your face to me."

"Everyone has something to hide, my dear...not only those that cover their faces." The tone was not chiding or threatening, merely sad that life was not a continuous circle of trust and other humble emotions. "I will show you my face as it does not matter what I look like nor who I am in the grand scheme of Fate. That lady plays games with us all..." A wistful whistle came from the cowl as the voice droned off.
Kimara raised two gnarled hands up to the black cowl, and slowly eased it down over the back of the head and neck. It bunched up at the base of the neck. Kimara raised the old head and the lines on the face looked like caverns as deep and as disfigured as those in the Blaze Mountain. The eyes were a nice ash grey, matching the fog and volcanic ash that was native to that region as well. A lock of hair shadowed the face, black underneath but tinged with grey and white as it flowed neatly down the neck to the shoulders and lay clumped on the pulled down cowl.
"Does this tell you anything about me that you did not know before, young one?" Kimara asked kindly, a small twinkle in one of the grey eyes. "I doubt it, but I understand and am surprised by your caution. It shows that you are not all about the glory and the deeds you have to accomplish. If you were, you would have been daring and stupid. I am very impressed with the way you handle yourself." An approving nod before continuing.
"Shall we be companions then my young daredevil?"

Caerys smiled. "On the contrary. I've have learned much more about you now. There are three ways to understand other people. The fist one is 'words'. But that can't be trusted. The second one is movements. That is a little bit more certain. But the last one is the most important of all." Slowly Caerys raised her finger at the woman's face. "Eyes. They tell everything and can't lie."
Suddenly the dagger on the table flipped on its right side and an elvish glyph appeared. Quickly the elf sheated the dagger again. With an amused look in her eyes Caerys glared at the woman in front of her. The elf's green eyes loked right into the woman's grey ones. "And i'm not as young as i look." Slowly Caerys stretched out her hand. "The name is Caerys, by the way."

Kimara took the hand of the elf lady and shook it. "My name is Kimara Severn. And I do not think you young, my dear, but I doubt you have the age on you that I do." Kimara winked and released the hand.
"A shame that the eyes can deceive, my dear. I do not tell you this so that you can mistrust me, but there is a natural teacher in me that tries to instruct and inform where and when I can." Kimara smiled again and sat back in the chair, the two gnarled hands coming together on the table.
"I presume this means you have decided on company. Might I ask now where we are going and what your deeds are?"

Caerys shurgged her shoulders. " I don't know where i am going. My road is the same as the one of my ancestor. His hand will guide me trough this land. When we arrive at the place where i am destined to be, i shall know it." The elf finished her meal and looked in the eyes of her new companion.
"Just to make this clear." Her deep green eyes had a very deadly and dnagerous aura and revealed deep focus. "You may be my companion now." Caerys started on a calm and controlled tone. "But that doesn't mean i trust you. Completly trusting someone you just met is a sign of weakness. When i just see a hint that you're about to stab me in the back, i swear i'll make sure that an eternity in the underworld is a paradise compared to your last living moments."
The elf's green eyes narrowed. "Is that clear?" The last words were said on a low, serious and dangerous tone.

Kimara's eyes twinkled at the serious tone in the other's voice. "Isn't it funny that you talk that way to me after agreeing to my company? Wouldn't it have been smarter to try and intimidate me before agreeing to my participation?" Kimara smiled and stood.
"Complete trust is never had. One will always presume that there is something about the other they do not know...and that is one of the few times that a person will always be correct. In everything else, there is error. In this one judgment, there is not."
Kimara flicked a coin onto the table in the corner where the night had began. Turning back to the elf lady, Kimara spoke again. "I am sure we will find where we are going soon enough. In the meantime, I figure it best if I retire for the evening." Kimara flashed a smile. "I am not as young as I used to be, you know."
Kimara winked and headed towards the door. "I will meet you at the back of the inn at dawn." Kimara walked out of the door and disappeared.

Caerys kept looking at Kimara as she went to her room. When the old lady left, Caerys stood up and went to the stables. There she looked for her horse. A beautiful brown mare. A small appeared on the elf's her face and gently she patted her horse. "We'll have a companion, Shanata." The mare made smoe sort of discussing noise. Caerys shrugged. "I don't know. I'll find out soon enough." caerys grabbed one of the horse combs and started to comb her horse. For hours she stayed there, combing Shanata. When she finished Caerys gave her horse an apple she kept from dinner. "I'll see you tomorrow morning."
The next morning Caerys woke up early. She equiped herself with her gear and went outside. Back in the stables she saddeld her horse and waited for Kimara.

Kimara had spent the night watching the young elf lady groom her horse. She had a bond with the horse, as most people do when they travel with the same one for so long. She would talk to it as she would a friend...and the horse would answer. Loneliness usually caused people to trust others that were similar, especially those that had proven to be friends.
"You may indeed be glorified, my young lady," Kimara mused as the elf stopped grooming the horse and turned away. Kimara watched until the elf girl was gone and waited ten minutes before returning to the inn.
Up in the rented room, Kimara sat on the bed, not sleeping. Sleep was something that Kimara needed less as the years went on...although it sounded ridiculous. Most old people needed more. Kimara smiled at the thought of being like most old people....that was something Kimara would never be.
**********************
An hour before dawn, Kimara was at the stables waiting for the young elf. When the elf was saddled and ready to go, Kimara stepped from behind the stables as though on a walk around the village. Coming to a stop before the horse and rider, Kimara smiled happily and waved.
"How are you, my young friend? All ready for your adventure?" Kimara took in a fresh breath of air and stretched. Morning breezes off the lake always felt so nice and had a nice touch of pine mixed with fish. It was a distinctive smell to the area, but pleasant.
"Which way are we going and where is your plan to stop for the night...you know, in case an old fogey like me falls behind?" Kimara winked at the young elf girl and waited patiently for an answer.
