Ranith flew on as the arrows keep flying towards him, then saw a rune stone fall to the ground and made a dust cloud, Ranith flew on, then Ranith Felt Kerodi squeeze his legs, at first he was too busy flying away, and the arrows didn't feel too good stabbing into him, then Ranith understood what Kerodi was trying to do, then followed his directions, Ranith did not have a place he was thinking of going, so he allowed Kerodi lead him.

below the men Growled as they see Ranith out of their range, few cough from the dust and dirt, one said "sir, should we chase?" the commander "nodded and said " get your men moving now..." quickly men began to follow by horse, not knowing if they can keep up.

Kerodi noticed that the dragon was starting to respond to his directions, so he applied the force once more, this time heading south along the slight rim of the Selkia that butted up against the main trail.

Kerodi could hear the horses trailing in pursuit and he knew that the dragon could probably not outrun them long with his injuries. Of course, Kerodi was unsure that his injuries would allow him to be of much assistance if they were caught again.

Kerodi positioned him out over the small sweep of forest and signaled for him to land. Once in a small valley, Kerodi told the dragon of his plan, never leaving his back.

"Dragon, the men will be here in a few minutes. They will be coming by that path." Kerodi pointed and made sure the dragon saw it and was facing that way. "As they race into view, I want you to take off again...and burst out a huge flame at the trail above the riders. With any luck that will collapse the trail and give us time to fly to safety."

Kerodi patted the dragon on his hard exterior, hoping he understood. "Do you think you can do it? Because here they come!" As Kerodi said that, the first of the riders rode into view.

The Riders on the horses ran though the trees, as they could not see above only able to hear Ranith's wings flap, suddenly did not hear them, and frowned, but kept on. they broke out of the deep forest, and saw the dragon ahead on the path, and they grinned and one said "CHARGE KILL THE DRAGON!" they pushed their horses hard as they ran towards Ranith, Ranith barely bent his head back and moved his eye all the way back and looked at Kerodi, then looked forward lifted off and hovered a moment the flew towards the men, they grabbed their bows and aimed, Arrows went flying at Ranith, and Ranith Growled in pain as they hit him.

Ranith came close and began to blow fire at the men of horses, as he flew over them, they ran on for a moment while screaming in pain, same for the horses, one didn't get hit, and turned around and saw Ranith fly off behind them, then turned forward, and infront of his path and closing was Raniths tail, the man screamed and gets hard by the tail, as his armor brakes apart as hes thrown off and spins in th air the hits the trail hard, as theres so way he could live though that, as his horse just runs off.

Ranith turned back around and looked below, as the horses and the men are on fire and dead besides one man as hes been hit and killed, Ranith waited a moment seeing if Kerodi has somewhere else he wants to go, but a few archers followed by foot, as they are tired but stood there and aimed at Ranith planing to hit a critical spot, to kill him.

the two most critical spots are near his heart, if lucky to get though the scales, and his eyes, as they are not scaled.

Kerodi lurched as the dragon took off, cowering down between his scales to avoid getting hooked by another arrow. He felt the backlash of the fire and kept his head averted so his eyes would not burn.

He heard the cries and looked up as the dragon circled above the clearing. "Back towards the pass!" Kerodi called, howling above the wind in his ears, and reacting happily as the dragon sped back towards the pass.

A few of the men were still on their feet, dogged in their determination. They had their arrows nocked and aimed. Kerodi gestured and the arrows turned into tulips. The archers stared in surprise and were lost to sight.

Minutes later, the dragon set them down at the start of the pass where a giant crater was blown and the remains of humans and horses were being gnawed on by insect predators.

"Thank you, dragon," Kerodi said. "My name is Kerodi."

While Ranith was turning he heard Kerodi say "Back towards the pass!" Ranith obeyed and flew back and one archer fires his bow and the arrow went flying towards Raniths heart, and Ranith shook as he felt it hit him at his heart, and quickly reaches to grab it, and pulls it to his face and looks at a smashed tulip, and Ranith Frowned and dropped the tulip and said " how did they know i hate tulips" and flew on and once he landed Ranith bent his head to Kerodi, and Kerodi said,

"Thank you, dragon," Kerodi said. "My name is Kerodi."

Ranith nods and said " and my name is Ranith..." Ranith did not have much to say, but looked back had they began to run towards them but they where too close, one stabs Ranith into his upper leg, Ranith growled and turned towards him and grabs the soldier and throws him and didn't go far as he hits a tree, the archers crouched down and aimed their bows and fired, what they had and they only had tulips, and tulips hit Ranith a few times his head and once at his chest, the grinned as Ranith growled angry once Ranith blew fire the grabbed their shields and blocked the fire, once the fire was done the stood up and pulled their shields aside and pulled swords out and screamed as they charged at them, then these men where not idiots with swords these four men where fighting like pros...

Kerodi turned weakly as the dragon spied even MORE adversaries to face. The earlier wound was continuing to pain him as the battle progressed and he was using so much magic that his body was beginning to fatigue.

He watched in a detached fashion as the soldiers formed a phalanx towards the dragon, managing to keep the flames from overheating their bodies and advancing. Kerodi knew that they would have to be drawn out of their position and the best way to scatter men like this was magic.

Sighing, Kerodi withdrew some sand from a pouch at his waist and launched it towards the oncoming men, gesturing to incite the hidden intent. The sand cascaded down around the men and their shields, but they only shimmered and came on.

Kerodi blinked hard. Either his spell had gone awry, which was unlikely given the simplicity of it, or these men had magic backing them up. This led Kerodi again to wonder where the army had come from and how he had been unable to sense them.

Frowning, Kerodi drew his staff to his chest and his eyes went cold. It did not matter at the moment. He had other things to do. With that, Kerodi darted towards the phalanx, dancing wildly in front of it, gesturing and causing a light show in front of their eyes. As that momentarily blinded them, he ran behind the four-man phalanx and beat one senseles with his staff.

That was all it took. Two continued towards the dragon in a phalanx. One turned to Kerodi, sword glimmering in the sun. Kerodi raised his staff and waited, magic and adrenaline coursing through his body.

Ranith watched Kerodi's spell fail and knew that wasn't good, without warning Kerodi runs towards the men and Ranith was about to help, but Kerodi danced wildly in front of them, gesturing and causing a light show, As that momentarily blinded Ranith. once Ranith could see he sees Kerodi behind them and watched him beat one senseless with his staff. and two of the men moved forward and one turned to Kerodi.

Ranith sighed then Growled at them which helped Kerodi as Ranith's growl temperately scared the one facing Kerodi, Ranith moved Forward and slashed at one but what Ranith thought what would happen didn't happen instead the man turns into smoke and mist then Raniths claw slashes though, the mist and smoke slowly flew back to the mans location and mist and smoke disappeared and the man stood there grinning. Ranith growled knowing this will get annoying.

Ranith backed away one step and tried to think up something, but indeed these men have magic, Ranith knew he wasn't much of a wizard. Quickly Ranith slashes at the man again and again the man becomes mist and floats around Raniths hand and heads towards where the man was standing, quickly turning to the other man and blows fire, with success the man didn't turn into mist in time and screams has his whole body is on fire. Ranith turns back to the other one but notices he had ran to Raniths said and slashed at Raniths side, and ran to his tail and ran up on it, quickly Ranith slashed it around but the man jumped and landed on Raniths back, and the man stabs his sword into his back and uses his feet to push it down all the way to the handle and the sword was mostly considered as a long sword, Ranith growls in pain while the man Ranith up Raniths neck Ranith swings his neck up fast has he could and catapulted the man, and he went flying and had no clue how far but he was gone, then turned his head to the sword stabbed into his back as it still hurts. but Ranith turned towards Kerodi wondering if he needed help or not.

Kerodi heard the roars of the dragon, but did not take his attention from the man in front of him. He struck twice, neither blow doing much more than banging off the shield of the man. Kerodi danced around, willing himself not to collapse from the wound and the extent of the magic. The soldier moved gracefully with him.

Kerodi heard a scream from behind and figured that the dragon had taken care of at least one of the men, if not both. The slight distraction caught Kerodi off guard and the man attacked. Kerodi managed to get his staff up before he was knocked to the ground.

The staff clanged harmlessly off the shield and as the soldier ran over his prone body, Kerodi kicked up...into nothing. Suddenly, it dawned on Kerodi who these men were and why he was unable to sense them. And the answer was NOT good.

Kerodi gained his feet and managed to murmur a spell. It duplicated him all around the man in front of him. This caused the man to pause momentarily, but on he came. This confirmed it. Kerodi knew now that this battle would be tough...for him and the dragon.

Kerodi parried and managed to gain a look at the dragon. He had flung a man off into the bushes. Kerodi knew that would not matter. In fact, the man was charging again. Kerodi did not have time to say anything before he was forced to watch his opponent. Hopefully, the dragon could get rid of his foe on his own. Kerodi was having enough problems with his own.

Ranith was going towards Kerodi, but saw some thing moving in the corner of his eye then turn sharply but the man threw his sword at Ranith, then dives to the ground and slides on the ground and under Ranith and jumps and stands on the other side and Runs towards Kerodi, and jumps at him while he was busy with the other one, was he was in hitting range while jumping at him, Ranith slashed out and his hand became a battering ram and threw the man out of his attempt and as he hits the ground hard.

he attempts to jump up but Ranith holds him down with his arm, the man gasped as Ranith was holding him down to hard but didn't care, Ranith turned to the men that where fighting Kerodi, and roars at them as they fall off guard to look at the dragon, which could help Kerodi.

Jada turns into her panther form and pounces on the man attaking kerodi. She lashed out with her claws and cut him across his chest. The man cried out in pain. Jada stopped she wasn't sure if she should kill the man or not. Who was he working for? and why did the two men attak?

Kerodi stumbled back in surprise as a panther charged from the brush. He slipped in his own blood and went down to one knee. The panther slashed the man attacking him in the chest and the man sank to the ground, screaming in rage before dying.

Again, Kerodi had been saved by the fact that the magic had to be focused on in order to be used. Sighing heavily, Kerodi managed to stand and glance over at the dragon. It had taken care of its attacker too and was looking at the panther carefullly.

Kerodi returned his attention to the beast. It eyed him warily. "Thank you, young panther," Kerodi gasped. He never got any other words out. He collapsed to the ground in a heap of blood and torn robes.
