Recon mission

Flames collided, making her shudder, half in fear, half in relief. "Wha-"
Then she was pulled down. Once again shielded behind both the table..with Erian.

"WOO-HOO! That's how it's done!"

An energetic voice crowed, causing her ears to perk. Who was THAT?

Though, when the other helped her up...and she was aware for a moment....that they were safe, despite the sirens plaring. When the other said something, her hand went directly to her lower abdoimen, as if feeling for any type of marring what so ever.

Good. They didn't mess with her before she woke up.

She sighed a little in a bit of an aching relief. "I'm just a little dehydrated from producing so much ice."

There was a small pause, before she huffed a little, suddenly giving wrapping her arms around his middle in a crushing hug.

"I thought they took you apart or something!" It was quite possible they had thought Erian would be techicnally "offline" for a few more hours that she was 'examined' first. Then again...it was possible that they could have already done something.

After a moment she drew back awkwardly. "Do you think we can destroy this place? From what I think they said they 0were going to do to me....-I didn't understand....but I don't think what it was going to try developing is very good for ANYTHING."

She said. before she turned, remembering with a stark blush that there was something else in the room.

A little....fox...no kitsune. The fairy, having a soft spot for anything cute, small, and furry, nearly shrilled in glee, as she unceremoniously plucked it up and hugged the poor Kaji to her bossom, petting and gushing.

"Ohhhhhhhhhh~ you're the cutest thing!!"

Not exactly the best place to be doing this...not that it seemed to bother Kai, if her suddenly girly giggles were any indication, before she suddenly stopped, putting the ruffled fox down, and blushing even darker.

"Second thought...I think they might have injected something into me...earlier...." Came the weak and obvious excuse

She was almost thankful when they heard rapid footsteps approaching, and she went over to the door on the other side.

Locked.

Staring at the handle and keypad. She smirked. Locks were locks. No matter how high tech. Plucking a pin from her blue mass of hair. she worked at the small slot in the side, to open keypad panel. Her eyes scanned over the board and wires, before she shrugged and pulled a wire out.

THe door slid open.

It was rather...boggling considering she was obviously no technological genius.

"I know locks." She shrugged with the half pint explanation. going through the door.

''wha- were did you learn that??''
chuckled Erian when the door opened.
''okay, let's go''
he turned towards the fox
''come on, let's go!''
''why that? i can handle those-''
''i know! that's why we need you with us''
''awww... oh well, i guess there'll be more later''
he joined the other two through the door, then Erian synched with the security lock on the other side and locked it for good.
''here. that'll give us some time''
he looked at the corridor behind him
''so... anybody got a plan?''

"No plan here!" She chirped, purposely ignoring the first question. As she looked down both coridors.

"All I can think of is going around and breaking things." She thought of her five second plan.

"-and if we happen to stumble across another exit, or some files and stuff...it' s a bonus? Maybe they have food too." She spoke idly, picking up a discarded broom and swinging it experimentally, before peeking around another corner.

WHACK.

Thunk.

Apparently. She was extremely miffed about her treatment by those men in the other room, and wanted to make things as difficult as possible. She had no qualms with any type of thievery and violence at this point at what she deemed enemies.

So she shifted through the guard's clothing thus so, scoring a key card.

"Gotcha."

Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn.

the fox whistled
''not bad! not bad at all!''
he turned to Erian with a smirk on his face and asked
''hey, is she your girlfriend?''
Erian startled
''wha-!? o-of course not!''
he turned to the other side to hide his blushing.
why in the heck did they make him able to blush!? what good was there in it!?
''A-HEM! we... we better get moving''
the fox started laughing
''sure, Romeo''
''will you stop it!?''
he laughed even harder.
meanwhile a group of security troops equipped with tranquilizers, EMP bombs and other hi-tech gizmos was running down the other corridor.
the fox was the first one to hear their footsteps.
he stopped laughing and became serious all of a sudden.
''there's too many of them... we can't fight them all. we gotta hide''
he turned to Kai
''you, with that key-thing! open this door! quick!''
he pointed at one of the doors opening on the corridor.

Her ears twitched subtly at the conversation, making her give a little snort of a giggle at how embarrassed the other sounded in his denial, but for the sake of things, restrained from teasing.

They were only friends after all...how could it really be any other way? Her mind chastised. Though, a small voice at the back of her head was screaming. 'LIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAR.'

"...open this door."

She blinked, suddenly focusing again. Stupid. Concentrate! She berated herself as she stood again, moving towards the door and swipped the card through the reader.

"Sorry- Got it!" She said lightly, brandishing the broomstick as the door slid open.

The room didn't seem to hold anyone.

Though...this room seemed different. It was filled with cages....petri dishes...computers.
Back up files were on them perhaps, with another corner leading to a double hatched door. Locked most likely.

"See anything we could use?"

''we'll check it out when the bad guys are gone, ok? now let's get the heck in before they find us!''
the fox yanked the other two inside and closed the door, and the automatic lock locked it automatically [no, really? XD].
completely still, they heard the security troop run down the corridor and pass right in front of the door.
one of the guards tried to open it, but luckily only the researchers had the electronic keys, so in the end he gave up, deciding that if he couldn't open it neither the intruders could have, and joined the rest of the troop out of the corridor.
after another few minutes of careful listening Erian whispered
''seems like they won't be coming back''
the fox gave a sigh of relief.
''phoooo... that was too close! when that guy tried to open the door i thought we were goners, for sure''
''yeah... me too...''
Erian started looking around the room. it appeared to be some sort of lab...
''oh! by the way''
he looked back at the fox
''you still haven't introduced yourself, have you?''
''oh, right. name's Kaji''
''well, Kaji, thanks a lot for helping us. i'm-''

''stop that! i'm Erian!''
''ok. and what's your girlfiend's name?''
''i already told you she's not my girlfiend!!''
Kaji cracked up again. he just loved to mess with people.
Erian snorted.
he was ready to answer with a remark about the fox's tail being on fire, but something in the room made him forget about all of his anger.
''a computer!''
Kaji looked at him confused.
''huh? so what?''
Erian was too exited about his discovery to pay attention to what he said.
''it's a pretty good model, too! i bet i can find something about this place and what they're doing here''
he synched with it and after a while started mumbling things like 'aha!' and 'interesting...'.
after a few minutes of rummaging in the pc's hard drive he let out a triumphant
''bingo!''
Kaji jumped on the table and asked
''so? found anithing interesting?''
''sure did! i found a map of the facility. and, guess what? it says there's an 'armory room' nereby. my guess is they store the spare parts and weapons for the replicas there... anyways, it sure would pay off to give it a check-out''

Letting out a breath of relief when they weren't found. SHe blinked, surveying around the area.

"Kaji, eh? I'm Kairos, but Kai for short please." She grinned at the two male's antics, setting her impromptu weapon down to look over Erian's shoulder at the map on the screen.

"Armory.....we could actually have fun with THAT..."
came the cheerful statement before she paused...looking at the room perpendicular to it labeled oddly.

".......what does "Defunc" stand for?" she asked lightly, before she shrugged, smiling mischievously.

"...I'm up for causing a bit of chaos and discord....you?" The fairy looked at the kitsune, a play full gleam in her eye.

Kaji seemed very interested at Kai's discovery
''Defunc, eh? interesting...''
but then he got closer to Erian and whispered
''what does it mean?''
''i'm not sure... might be some kind of control room...''
''well, whatever it is, we won't be finding it out just by looking at a shiny screen''
''ok, ok... let me just download the map and these research files i found... done. ok, let's go''
he walked at the door and opened it with a bit more enthusiasm than the situation would suggest, knocking a passing researcher unconscious.
''whoopsie! s-sorry... thet... that wasn't on purpose''
Kaji looked at the KOed man, then gave a friendly slap on Erian's leg and laughed.
''not bad, Romeo! not bad!''
''le-let's just hide him in here and move it before more come''

She laughed bemusedly, dragging the researcher by the coat into the room with a little bit more glee than needed.

before moving to follow the other two. keeping an eye out and an ear out. Though after a couple of minutes of wandering, and dodging guards, a door caught her eye.

Why this one?-and not other's perhaps?
Perhaps it was the bold red letters that displayed "Do Not Enter." As well as a shiny card swipe.

Unable to help herself, She wandered away from her friends.

"...ah...be right back." she mumbled under her breath. Eying the thing for a moment. She dragged it down. The door opening with a mechanical whir. Darkness greeted her eyes...only making her more curious.

But first. Light switch. Palming the inside of the wall, she searched with her hands, until she finally found one.

The lights didn't turn on.

Instead. Two Glowing red lines came online, staring back at her.

Well...curiousity sure killed THIS cat....she gulped, backing up a little.

Clank-Clunk.

Something large moved, making her stumble back with a surprised squeak, ears flattening back and she backed up towards the door.

The lights now chose to flicker on.Revealing a huge mechanical body, the word "Reject" spray painted crudely on the dust covered surface.

Something that was large enough that it wasn't hard to imagine that it could easily snap a man in half.

She could only stare in perturbed awe as it gave a mechanical trill, before it seemed to speak, light emitting diodes flickering on and off as it made it's sound pattern. Obviously. This model was bulky and outdated.

"Ma -Ma!" The head turned in a creepy fashion to wards her, making her eyes bulge slightly.

"WAH?!" As far as she knew. She did not have any children. Nor did her 1 hundred fifteen pound, five foot tall self birth any 3 ton robots lately.


"Ha-hah.....time to go." She ran, seeing a large hand reach for her clumsily, and the floor shook when it missed and it hit the doorway, which was too way too small for it..

She scrambled to get back to the other two, frantically fixing her clothing.

"Ah....guys maybe we should just......leave?"

Thunk. CRASH.

"I mean...we did get information..."

Thunk.

"...and..."

Ker- Thump.

"....there's a giant robot behind me isn't there?" She said with almost a straight face, trying to keep her composure.

and failing. Miserably. Especially when chalk and debris fell from the contours of that monstrous form.

"MA MA!" The mechanical voice trilled gleefully. causing Kai to groan audibly and slap her forehead with her hand.

"I'm not yer MOMMA!" She shrilled at it, cheeks burning bright red, but then cringed when it didn't seem to comprehend anything. Rather just stared at the three of them. Really...this was probably only attracting...more attention.

Surely enough. Security caught up on the other side of them, armed with various artillery.

(...and no....This is not gonna be a second character for me or anything...just in a weird mood...thinking of having it destroy itself/mess things up)

neither of the two noticed when Kai left, as they were too excited at the thought of the 'armory room'... until they actually reached it.
Kaji looked at the iron door.
''another security lock, eh? do you think that key-card of yours can open it, Kai?''
no response.
''Kai?''
''she's not here...''
''what do you mean 'she's not here'!?''
''just what i said. she must have fallen behind when we started running down the corridors...''
''of all times... let's go back and-''
''she can take care of herself. plus, she knows where we're headed too. we'll just keep going and we'll sure meet her.''
''if you say so... would you mind opening the door, then?''
Erian put a hand on the key-card reader, and one second later the door was open.
when the two entered the room and turned on the light, they found themselves surrounded by all sorts of hi-tech gadgets.
Kaji immediately grabbed a pair of the same rapid-fire gatlings the two bears fired at him with.
''now you're talking! ok, i'm ready! let's go kick some butt!''
Erian just gave a quick look at him and said
''and how do you plan to use them? from what i know you don't have an internal generator you could attach them to... or were you planning to use them as clubs?''
the fox groaned and put them down.
''spoilsport''
again, Erian was too busy to hear him: in a glass box, a little shiny gizmo was literally calling for him. a little sign on the box read 'wave blade'.
looking closer at it, it just looked like a pair of open-fingers rider gloves, but on the backhand and palm sides of each was a shiny, gem-like circular section.
out of curiosity he tried them on. immediately he realized that the gem-like sections contained a micro processor, connected to a pair of strange devices... apparently one for input and one for output, but of what?
the answer came when he accidentally channeled some energy in them. the energy was gathered by the shiny sections and then came out as semi-transparent, glass-like, light purple colored energy blades.
he startled and let out a 'whoa', instinctively deactivating them.
Kaji, who had seen that last part of the scene, jumped on the table where the glass box was and looked at the gloves.
''that was so cool! show me again!''
''um... o-okay''
he gave energy to the gloves, and the blades materialized again.
''man! you always get the best stuff! i want some too!!''
Erian deactivated the energy blades.
''what do you need them for? you already got a sword. and, if you ask me, enough firepower, too''

a few minutes later they were back at walking around the corridors... and another two minutes later they met Kai and her newfound friend.
Kaji, who was wobbling under the weight of the two gatlings and a battery he made Erian attach them to and he was now carrying like a rucksack on his back, was the first to notice the three-ton metal beast getting dangerously closer to them.
''what in heaven's name is that!?''
the giant robot suddenly stopped.
he looked at Kai, then at the black-haired man and the fox, then back at Kai.
[MA... MA]
in that moment he noticed the security squad running down the corridor and readying their weapons.
his rudimentary programming recognized a serious threat in those armed men... not for him, but for the girl who had activated him.
indeed, he was a 'Golem' type mech. like the legendary Golem, a clay statue built with the sole purpose to protect his master with his life, his programming compelled him to protect the one who activated him from any threat... the problem with him, and the fact why he had been deactivated and locked away, was that his systems recognized everything as a possible threat... really everything.
immediately he rampaged away at the two closest targets.
''yikes!!''
Kaji barely dodged an oversized fist, but Erian's reflexes weren't as quick and ready as his, so the second attack sent him flying against the wall.
''Erian!! son of a-''
Kaji grabbed the two gatlings and aimed at the iron giant, but he saw another punch fly at high speed in his direction.
''crap''
this was the only thing he managed to say before joining Erian against the wall.

"Ah- I accidently." She started when that huge fist came down....past her at her two companions.

"HEY STOP THAT." she attempted to order the robot....but programming was ultimately flawed.

"Shi-" She started to curse, especially when a tranquilizer dart whizzed past her head, scratching her cheek.

"OI!" Spectacularly, the giant golem seemed to turn... after sending another fist crashing down, Before it's head seem to automatically twist around, scanning.

She attempted to wipe off the warm blood from her face before it froze to her skin, but only succeeded in smearing it,

The signature of her blood was recognized, before she noticed a small break for her.

[Ma...Ma]

IT wen't after the men. Making her feel alot better in that respect.

In a sense...that's....two birds in one stone. Because no doubt when that robot was hit was EMP bullets, it's body would surely block the expansive hallway.

"Byeee Joey~" She decided to randomly name it, before trotting up to the other two, tugging on Erian's sleeve.

"You alright?" She seemed to eye him for a moment, before looking the fox over....then noticed the gear.

"....ooh...looks like you found new 'toys'."

She stopped though, hearing the crackle of electricity, and the Golem fell with a crash into a support beam.

That -couldn't- be good.

"....who's up for getting out of here?"

when Erian violently hit the wall his vision blacked out for a moment, and he could hear several parts of his synthetic bone structure creak at their resistance's limit.
his consciousness was starting to fade, when the metallic impact of Kaji's backpack with the wall brought him back to his senses.
he turned towards him and weakly asked
''hey... you ok?''
the fox was already back on his feet and ready to fight.
''yeah, don't worry: that thing may be big, but it takes more than that wimpy punch to take out a guardian spirit''
Erian chuckled.
*i wish i was that peppy*
he thought.
when Kai asked him if he was alright he answered with an ''i'm fine'' and stood up, still staggering a bit.
he wanted to ask about the big robot, when a loud electrical crackling sound and a heavy crash answered him.
''...who's up for getting out of here?''

Kaji was the first one to answer.
''oh, i sure am not staying here one minute longer''
he fixed the two gatlings at his backpack and then pulled on Erian's trousers.
''wake up Sleeping Beauty! we gotta hightail it outta here!''
Erian shook his head, trying to get rid of the dizziness.
''y-yeah... let's go''
he grabbed Kai's hand and started running, following Kaji through the labyrinth of corridors.

after the third corridor Erian's mind was less foggy, and he was already thinking of a plan to get out of there.
in the last corridor they heard from a loudspeaker that as a security measure all exits had been sealed, so going out from where they came in was not an option.
*we gotta find the central control room... that's the only way to open the doors and get out of here*
he stopped to catch his breath, and then explained his plan to Kaji and Kai.
''listen... i figured out that the only way to get out of here is to find the central control room and unseal the doors...''
the little fox was all set to go.
''alright. just tell me which way it is and i'll be there in a heartbeat''
''it's not that easy...''
why that?
''well... i don't doubt that you would have no problems in reaching it, but then what would you do? we're talking about some pretty complex software: i highly doubt there'll be an 'open doors' button somewhere... no, i must be there too''
''impossible. we don't have that much time!''
Kaji was right: that place could cave in every moment.
''now that i think about it, there might be a solution...''
he grabbed in his magic pouch and pulled out a walkie-talkie, then opened it and started recabling some circuits. when he was done with the hardware he quickly synched with it and did a bit of recompiling with the base program too.
''here''
he said after closing it again
''i tuned the antenna on my communication system's wavelength and modified the software to make it compatible with my OS: if you can connect this cable i left out...'' he pointed at a small black cable with a sucker-like metallic end ''...to the computer's processor, i should be able to sync with it even from a distance''
he gave him also a wireless headset (earphone and mike)
''take also this, so we can keep in touch''
Kaji fixed it to his ear
''ok, ok... can i go now or is there more?''
Erian smiled
''we're counting on you''

Running with them to another corridor, she kept giving Erian worried glances.

"G'luck Kaji! You better not get yourself hurt." She knelt down a little, kissing the fox between the ears.

Worried glances turned into a full blown frown when Kaji was sent forward with the walkie talkie, before making a last minute decision, eyeing a near by door,

"We're hiding..." Her hand tightened around his own, swiping the card in the reader, before the door slid open, and she narrowed her eyes a bit.

"....because you don't...I don't know...seem fine...to me.."

She didn't explain herself further, words eerily feeling like it did when she had met the panther. Nor did she have time to, because the door had opened completely...

...to reveal several surprised looking scientists.

Paying no mind to it, she pulled Erian in, Before she smirked darkly.

"Get them!"

The guards may have been a problem physically wise for her,
but scientists...? Several found themselves stuck to the wall later with a thin layer of ice, yelling angrilly.

"You can't leave us up here!"

Kai's eyebrow ticked as she fixed a glare at her newly deemed flies on the wall as the door slid closed again.

"Oi- close yer flytraps! It's not like the ice ain't gonna melt." She hissed at them, pulling up a rolling chair, before motioning for the other.

"Sit down."

It seemed that they had interrupted a type of board meeting, looking at the charts and graphs spread about.

when the opening doors revealed the men inside Erian clenched his fists, activating his newfound energy blades, ready to sell his life dear.
but then Kai took his hand and pulled him inside with a malicious grin on her face... and a few seconds later the men were frozen to the walls around the room.
*whoa! never thought she was so tough* thought Erian looking at the yapping scientists *i sure am glad she's on my side...*
he walked up to the table and had a look at the papers on it.
reaching out a hand to grab a sheet that piqued his attention he noticed that the blades had automatically deactivated. could they really react to his emotions...?
Kai's shrill voice disrupted his line of thoughts, forcing him back to the real world. he picked up the suspicious-looking sheet and checked it out.
his heart skipped ten beats when he realized what he was looking at actually were the blueprints of the orbiting station 'Nova'... his Mission HQ.
''this... definitely can't be good''

"....what is it?" She leaned over his shoulder to peak at the blue prints, then up at the scientists that had gone silent.

Like flies on the wall. She thought sarcastically, wondering how Kaji was faring.

The shape of the blue prints puzzled her, it was nothing like she'd ever seen before. "Maybe we should...just take the whole folder with us when we go and talk about this where we don't have them listening in?"

Despite her actions, she really didn't like killing people. However. If they got caught up in an explosion if they happen to level this facility...tough luck for them.
