Full name: Iana Coris Ghaende Dynarda XXVII (the 27th). So-named after several family ancestors.
Nicknames: Nina, Gearbox, Nugget.
Race: Laifel (Lie-ee-fell). The Laifel come from an evolutionary branch of human-kind, similar to the pygmy and dwarven races. They have long lived in the tunnels beneath the Coralisian mountains, long forgotten by the people of this new world. They are small and stocky, rarely taller than a human toddler, and thrive on the discovery of new things. Despite their childlike quest for the why and how, they are not a race to be taken lightly in any situation. The Laifel are a sturdy race, and will do what it takes to overcome any obstacle, be it physical or magical.
Quick Description
At 142 years of age, Iana surpasses many of her interracial acquaintances by several years – However, she remains ever childlike and energetic, a testament to the spiritual immortality of her kind. Her large, bright blue eyes and matching pigtailed hair reinforce her childlike appearance, and make it hard for anyone not of her kind to take her ingenious (yet often unstable) ideas seriously. She spends most of her days searching for new ways to get things done, and can often be found in the middle of a stack of books or buried under a pile of parts and gadgets for her latest invention.
Mini-Biography
Born during a time of war in her homeland, Iana was whisked away to a different land along with her mother and brother to the lands of Valear. There her mother, Icariana named her Iana Coris Ghaende Dynarda XXVII. Iana was raised by her brother in a small refugee village by Lonea Lake for most of her childhood. Her mother had returned to their homeland to help in the war, by way of her healing skills. After the war, her mother returned with Coris XXVI, Iana’s father. Coris had returned alive, but his mind was broken; The war had taken a terrible toll on his sanity and he spent most of his days in taverns, drinking away his memories.
Iana, under her brother’s tutelage, became an excellent engineer. She was approached by several local merchants, and soon became well known in her small village. At her centennial celebration, she announced that she was leaving in the name of discovery, and that one day her name would travel the land as the discoverer of all things great and wonderful.
The young Laifel journeyed onward until she reached Tamasha Village, a wondrous place with constant new arrivals, and new things to see and explore. She has made her home there, amidst many others in search of their own dream’s end.
Iana’s Philosophy:
The smaller the brain, the less room there is for useless information. Always try to learn new things, and never pay attention to those out to ridicule intelligence.
Character Description, in a different wording.
• Often wears silly-looking, but highly useful engineering goggles.
• About 2’6” tall.
• Short and stocky, but thin for her race.
• She is an inventor, an engineer. She makes things mostly out of metals and wood and loves to read and explore.
• Talks very quickly, and often in highly technological terms. Might repeat herself in ‘lamens terms’ to anyone who looks at her blankly when she’s explaining how her newest doo-dad works.
• Talents: An eye for details. She can understand how something works just by observing it. She can remember and quote conversations word for word (OOC - I'll try my best to hold true to that in character... But bear with me if something isn't exact. HAHA)
• Great at problem solving.
• Generally a bubbly, hyperactive person. Although she will buckle down when a situation calls for serious action.
• Does NOT mix well with Magic. She tried it once, and ended up with permanently blue hair. Long story, not for the faint of heart. She doesn’t understand the Will and the Word, although she does understand the more scientific levels of magic - which are a kind of chemistry and engineering on their own.
• Soft spot for animals. She loves the cute and cuddly. However, her engineering habits often cause their early death… So she builds her own mechanical pets. Her mechanical fox-thing is never far behind. It flies, so duck. (Seriously, it has no radar. Duck!)
• She likes to fancy herself as a warrior at times… But she’s better off using an invention to do her fighting.
**She doesn't look very small in this image... I need to draw her next to someone else for size relativity. But I'll do that once she's been in a few RPs and made friends/enemies.
