It took a few seconds, but Len managed to recover. "Oh, jus' put too much into it..." Ugh, bad example. He looked to Saira. He just looked a little weak, nothing serious. "I'm fine, just a little pooched..." I went too far again, dammit... ...I knew I shouldn't have made a huge batch, and be lazy about it until now...

Saira was relieved he was okay, but was now not so sure about trying to make a Keystone. If Len had a problom doing it, and he'd been doing it for a while, then would she?
"Will the same thing happen when I try to do it?" She asked. There was obvious hesitation in her voice now. She'd never done anything like this, all sorts of things could happen. Saira, remember I can see your mind. If anything happens, I will stop you, Sarora said, watching from where she sat. You didn't stop Len, though... She pointed out. I do not know his mind yet. I have been connected with you since you were seven. If anything changes, I know. Trust me.
Still, though... "Is that a normal occurence?" She asked.

Len nodded. "I haven't done it in a while, since I made a massive batch over a week's time. It lasted me a bit over two months now, and I kinda forgot how far 'too far' was. I remember it quite strongly, now. It just takes a small amount of practice." At least the keystone was Uber-charged with energy. It was actually slightly glowing with what energy was put into it.

Saira opened her palm and looked at the stone, now glowing with energy. She gave it back to Len and picked up a new one, holding it like Len had done.
How the heck am I supposed to do this? She thought. Calm yourself, Sarora interjected. And follow what Len told you. She frowned, but did, focusing on herself and her energy, acutely aware of the stone she held. It took a minute, but she managed to start the energy flow from herself to the stone. Once she got it started, it was easy, like pouring water almost.
When she stopped the flow and opened her eyes again, she blinked away a wave of vertigo and put a hand on the ground, suddenly fairly exhausted. She blinked once. Twice. "Did I do it right?" She asked.

Len nodded. "Yup. Feels like you did. Give yourself about five, maybe ten minutes, and you'll be able to make another one of them. When you're a bit more experienced with it, it takes less time to recover." And he smiled. "I'm glad you're learning this now - it's a basic part of Wildmagic, though I'm hearing regular mages use something like these too... ...never know with that loopy town, and all its linear scedules, predictability, corruptibility... ...ugh, keep me away from there. Three years was bad enough. I'd rather not another day there."

Saira looked at the stone. It didn't glow like Len's, but she could feel that it had energy inside of it, and as far as she was concerned, that was all that counted.
See? Nothing went wrong, Sarora said. You did it perfectly fine, from what I can see. Try again in a few minutes when you recover. Saira nodded. I will.
At Len's mention of a town, Saira looked up. "Which town?" She asked curiously, though she probably wouldn't know the town by name.

(( When I have the town's name, I'll add it in. Sorry about the lack of immediate info - I want to make the reference perfect. ))
"Don't get me started on Armethalieh. Calling that place a linear nightmare would be a compliment. It schedules when it's going to rain, when the bells ring, when to treat plagues, when to start its academies, breakfast, lunch, dinner... ...everything in that place is timed. It's really predictable and annoying. It's the blasted place I have to get that dumb metal from, too. That's the worse part."

Saira fiddled with the stone in her hand. She almost felt recovered enough to try to make another one. Almost. "Schedules when to treat plagues? When to rain?" She said, somewhat baffled. "But how can they do that? People can't decide when it rains." She was unsure of whether or not he was saying that to exaggerate the point that they schedule everything or was being serious. And we're going there... There's no other place to get this metal from?" She asked because Len didn't seem to want to go there as well as because she herself didn't want to go there. Or to any other inhabited place that had a lot of people, really, but figured that was unavoidable - this town sounded particularly unfavorable, though. ((Sorry for the random absences. I've been and have been avoiding the computer in favor of sleep))

Len was cross. And serious. "They have a huge mesh of magics, alike Wildmagic in some manners, but SO much more mechanicalized... And so you know, we're going to have to fly to the gates. The place has nothing against a dragon at all. Heck, dragons are celebrities over there. I'm not kidding about that, though. If you can understand any more of the nonsense than I can, kudos.

Almost impreceptibly, Sarora growled. It wasn't heard, but rather felt, and the connection to her mind was colored with a harsh feeling. I may know the town you speak of, Len, She said. Saira blinked. "You do?" Maybe. Obviously, being isolated, the group of ice dragons are fairly cut off from information, but some things reach us. "So you can fly us there?" She asked after a moment. Of course I can. But I won't guarantee that if any of them do anything stupid I will ignore it. People who regard dragons as 'celebritites,' as Len puts it, seems to think that we are all-powerful, magical, immortal beings, capable of pretty much anything. Which is obviously not true. I do not know, maybe they will be different. "When should we go?" She asked Len, slightly more at ease with the idea of going if Sarora could come with, which wasn't to say that she didn't feel safe witl Len with, quite the opposite. It was just habit from it was just the two of them reacting. "Do you want to get the metal before finding more rocks for keystones, or continue that before headign to the town?"

Len shook his head. "We're definitely grabbing keystones first. I'd rather not go to that anoying-as-hell town now. There's just one thing you can't do there in the open - and that's Wild Magic. They forbid it in that town because they think it outright wrong. Don't know wh-- Oh yeah, they think it wrong because it has no one-way work - everything's variables to them for normal magic, and Wild Magic doesn't follow any sort of logic consistently, so you end up with a different result every time, even for the same spells. They don't like it, so they exile it. But it's their town, so we get no say."

Saira thought this over.
Isn't that kind of...I don't know. Off? I mean, why do they have to control everything?" She shook her head. "Glad I don't live there, I'll say that much. I think I would run off the first moment I could - that's too much organization."
She looked up at the stars, which were surprisingly visible. She supposed it was because they were up so high on the volcano. "Where should we go next to find more stones like this?" She asked. "There has to be places you've wanted to look, but never got to because they're inaccessable or something, but we can fly there now."

Len sighed. "Part of my training led me there. The earlier part. Not pretty. As to places to get to...? ...Honestly, the only place I can think of is where you are exiled. That, or to waste money buying them, and money's something that's a little too influential to let fly around needlessly. Better yet, finding a small lake might yield other results - but we haven't checked all the volcano yet - just one of the faces. Once we get to tomorrow, we should check around for more caverns around here. Considering that the previous one was a snake's den, no wonder there weren't many minerals. Though, true enough, I just might make random objects into keystones, of sorts."
You are neglecting Saira on the system of Wildmagery.
Len wasn't sure at all where the fsck that voice had come from, but after a small amount of thought, the voice was true. "...I think we'd best send Sarora alone for that trip tomorrow. I've still got heaps of explaining to do about Wild Magic before you get yourself too far. But, all that hoopla's tomorrow..." And he finally relaxed. "Let's enjoy now, while we have it." He leaned himself against Saira, glad he actually had someone to lean upon. He closed his eyes, smiling. This was the first time he'd leaned upon anyone so willingly. He'd never trusted anyone else this well.

Saira sighed. So he knows about the mines too, She thought. The ridge was covered with them, like a tree after it had been eaten by woodworms. They just had to be opened up, which was dangerous in itself. A few were. Most of those were the dens of ice dragons. But they were all in the harshest areas of the ridge, where almost no human had come out alive.
"You can make objects into keystones?" She asked. "I thought it was only stones. Then again, I suppose I stil have a lot to learn. More than a lot. A ton. Absently she placed a hand on his shoulder.
"How did you get into doing Wildmagic?" She asked after a moment of silence, just out of pure curiosity. "Isn't it not widely known by a lot of the population?"

Len shook his head. "It's not completely common in some areas, but rather common in other areas. Others know of[/o] Wildmages, but don't have the three books, so they don't know the workings. I just randomly found the three books looking through the small library the main - now burnt - HQ of Dragoons. When I showed them to someone else, they looked like another book entirely, and they were bound for being discarded. So, I got the go-ahead to keep them, and of course, my team-mates wondered if I was nuts, but soon enough, I proved otherwise." He shrugged. "But yeah, you can make anything into a 'Keystone', but crystals and gemstones are best."
(( We should being a small amount of drama in. Healing, perhaps? ))
