A buzz was heard all around the mountain town of Dortsheem. This usually sleepy town does come to life but once every 3 years for it is home to a event infamous far and wide. This fabled event is none other than “The Dortsheem Gauntlet”. A test of battle prowess, knowledge and sheer dumb luck. Kraxis had traveled here for one purpose and that is to add more “enlightenment” to his magic lantern. A ancient curio which stole a fragment of a beings essence and passed on knowledge to its owner.
He made it passed the first round without much trouble. The Yeti from the first round had believed itself to an impressive foe and yet this may have been true if it had not falling for one of the oldest tricks in the book. All it had taken to beat his foe was to get him to turn his back on Kraxis. Achieved with little more than a cry along the lines of “Look out, behind you!” and the vexed beast’s face drop from a angry sneer to a gormless expression as it reeled around to see what this apparent threat was. Kraxis pulled out two of his trusty hook daggers and charged the beast, Once within range the leaped up onto its shaggy back. The creature was yet further confused and knocked slightly off balance. Each of his arms landed on the wretches shoulders, causing each of his vicious dagger s to sink deeply into the lower neck of the dimwitted beast. Kraxis’s weight alone would have been enough to cause a fatal tearing wound, yet alas the beast’s writhing served only to make its death a lot more painful. The agonized beast thrashed out trying to shake off his opponent, Kraxis was jostled about like a rag doll. Soon the thrashing slowed and became clumsier with every passing moment till finally collapsed on its side. The beast was dead. He put away his knifes. This fight was over.
Kraxis headed for the oaken gates to stand amongst the others proven ready to move on to the next stage of the gauntlet. The dwarven organizer and owner of this establishment sneered as he Kraxis passed him.
“Wou’ it have killed you so much to put on a ‘arf decent show for the crowd ?”
Kraxis smiled and replied
“You’ll have your show once you give me a challenge little man”
and with that he continued through the gate. As the dwarf closed the gate behind Kraxis he mutterd to himself with a smirk.
“O its a challenge you want is it dessert rat? Well let me give you one that wont leave you walking out so disappointed, because you won’t be walking out of at all.
