With all of it’s sails fully blown, the three-masted full rigged ship sliced trough the waves like a knife going trough butter. The ship was going at an incredible speed, straight towards the land known as Valaer, At the steer of the large ship stood a handsome, young man who did not look anything like a sailor. Although he didn’t look like a sailor, he certainly looked like he knew what he was doing however. As the land got closer he yelled something in his native language and the crew aboard the ship immediately started taking down all of it’s sails. As the ship quickly started slowing down, the man at the steering wheel turned the steer all the way counter clock wise. When they had almost made a 90 degree turn he ordered the crew to lower it’s anchor.
It was another 50 meters to the coast, but the ship was way too deep to get any closer to shore. The man at the steering wheel quickly looked at the masts and sails to make sure everything is cleaned up, nice and tidy just the way he liked it, and walked down the stern. A small grin appeared on his face, clearly happy about something. Though whether it was because they had cleaned up the sails so well or because he had finally reached his destination the crew could not say.
“From now on we shall only speak zis weird language, even though eet is ugly, we must get acquainted with it.”
He suddenly spoke to his crew with a determined looking face, like a father talking to his children after they had done something bad. The way he spoke sounded very awkward, it was clear this wasn’t his native language and that he had trouble with some of the words.
“Now lower ze dinghy, so I can start scouting ze area.”
Two of the men got onboard the dinghy, while two others started lowering it. As they dropped it for about a foot the man grasped the hilt of his rapier and pointed the end upwards and jumped aboard the dinghy, it got lowered another few feet and it reached the water. The two man aboard the small boat sat down and started rowing towards the shore, the man still holding his weapon had lowered the tip by now and was still standing. No one spoke until they reached the shore.
“Very well. I shall start scouting ahead, you tuu shall ‘ead back to ze ship.”
He spoke as he jumped of the boat straight onto the beach, as if he didn’t want to get wet. Eager to scout ahead he walked off the beach and started sprinting as he reached solid ground and ran into the woods.

Screams such as "Bloody hell" and "Bugger" were ringing throughout the forest. Anyone deciding to investigate them would most likely turn back as soon as they realized the source of these screams. A man wearing a red, wizard robe was running for his dear life, as fast as his legs could carry him.
Right behind the man a tall, black skinned beast was giving chase. A monster that seemed to have come straight from a nightmare. It was roughly humanoid in shape, with a black, leathery skin that seemed to tight for it's body. It had a barrel like chest and thick, powerfully build arms. On both it's feet and hand there were no nails, but sharp claws. Short, bat like wings were folded on it's back, obviously to small to allow a creature of this bulk to fly. A long, powerful tail helped it to keep it's balance while running.
The scariest part of it all however, was the creatures head. In shape, it sort of looked like a crocodile. It's teeth however, were so large they did not fit in it's mouth. A pair of curled horns looked ready to impale whatever was foolish enough to attack it. And it's eyes were the stuff of nightmares. The sockets seemed empty, an endless pool of the darkest black. Whenever it let out one of it's bellowing roars however, vicious, green flames erupted from them.
Still running, Oswin wondered how such a perfect day could have turned so sour. He had just finished setting up a small camp site and was about to start preparing his dinner when he felt a strange magical disturbance. Ever curious, the warlock had decided to investigate. He had no idea if the disturbance was forced by someone, or if it had been a fluke, but what he did know did not please him.
The disturbance had created a gap in the dimensional walls. Allowing a demon from the demonic plane into this one. Now, being an experienced warlock, this should still not be a cause for alarm. The demon however, was rather large. And Oswin had not prepared any spells at all and he was given no time to cast them. Which, sadly, left him with no other option but running as fast he possibly could.
Tripping over his own robe, Oswin took a nosedive towards the ground, the demon immediately leaping at it's prey. Grabbing the warlock with it's powerful grip, it raised him up in the air and slowly and triumphantly started to squeeze the life out of the poor man.
Screaming in fear, and doing his utmost best to not soil his pants, Oswin started kicking out with his legs when a young man entered the clearing. Noticing the man had a sword, Oswins face brightened considerably. "Evening my friend! If you are not too busy, would you mind helping a bloke out? I seem to be in a slight spot of trouble here you see and I would very much like to get out of it." Oswin's talents of remaining cheerful and understating things would never cease to amaze anyone.

The moment he heard what seemed like whispers coming from the woods, the man who didn't look like a warrior at all grasped for his rapier as he stopped running. Quickly turning his head left and right you could see he was trying to listen to the whispers. Having no idea what it was whatsoever, he decided to take a closer look. As he got closer to where the whispers were coming from, it started more like cursing. Before he could actually hear what it was that he heard, he entered a clearing a noticed a man in red robe, unfortunately shortly after that he noticed the man was being held by a gruesome beast.
Even though he had never seen anything like it in his entire life he didn't hesitate, he didn't even notice that the man seemed unbelievably calm and dashed straight for the beast. On his way he drew his rapier and made his mind up that the best thing he could do is making sure that the man wouldn't get harmed by this creature, upon arrival he elegantly stabbed the thing right into his wrist, hoping that it would release it's prey. After his stabbed it, he took a defensive stance, but remained in close combat to make sure he was ready if the beast went for either him or the red-robbed man.

Tossing Oswin aside, the warlock hit his head hard. Getting up, he gave a small round of applause. "Oh capital! You really saved me there mate!" Obviously, the demon hadn't frightened him one bit. "Well, what are you waiting for? Go get him!" He cheered on his saviour as the demon decided to first take care of the more dangerous foe.
Lunging at the swordsman, the demon swiped at him with his claws as it loud out a bellowing roar. Green flames erupted from it's sockets, and some of it's spit landed on the swordsman. Oswin overlooked the scene, trying to decide if he should step in, or let his saviour handle it.

Giving the man a weird look for only the slightest moment when he applauded after falling on his head, he was just in time to focus on the beast again who just lunged at him. Unfortunately he was too late for a good defensive move, so he jumped back, but tripped because he was caught of guard. The fall made him vulnerable, but he quickly grasped for something with his left hand from his jacket what seemed to be a playing card. Holding it for an only an instance he threw it at the demon and upon impact it exploded into some sort of smoke screen. As the man quickly got up, he jumped back a few paces and started plotting his next move.
His eye's stayed fixed on the big smoke screen as he moved his rapier in front of him, by moving both his arms, he slowly went with the palm of his left hand at the start of the Rapier until he reached the end. His hand left a trail of red looking energy, as he was done the blade of his Rapier bursted into flames. After that he made 2 fierce, yet elegant looking diagonal swings, releasing two fireballs straight into the smoke screen, the flames disappeared from the Rapier.

Taking the fireballs full force, the demon roared, but not from pain. It increased in size, while the wings also got proportionately larger. Spreading them out, the demon roared again and launched it self up into the air with a single beat of it's now rather large wings.
Oswin slapped the palm of his hand to his forehead as he sighed. Being rescued was nice and all, but obviously his saviour was an idiot. After all, wasn't it common knowledge that demons of fire would only get stronger when hit by it? Everyone knew that? Right?
Starting a chant, several purple orbs appeared around him and launched themselves at the demon as it swooped down. As the beast was plummeting to the ground, Oswin started a new chant. Finishing as the fiend hit the ground, shackles of golden light appeared around it. "Don't you just stand there, stab it or something!" He shouted at the other man. "And NO fire this time. Okay? Thanks!"

An arrogant smirk appeared on his face as the Rapier wielding man DID think he hurt the beast badly upon hearing it's roar, he then looked at the man that he just saved and spoke with an arrogant tone.
"Not zoe worry monami, I..."
He then stopped as he saw the beast, who was now able to fly for he had grown a pair of wings, launch out of the smoke. The arrogant look on his face then got replaced by a look that made him seem surprised. First he met this weird man, then it got attacked by some weird animal and now it grew a pair of wings! Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to leave his country.
Different thoughts and idea's ran trough his mind as the man whom he just rescued didn't seem like someone that needing saving, for he had used some weird magic that was something he had never seen before. He snapped out of it when he got ordered to stab the beast.
"Oui oui!"
He spoke as he moved towards the demon again, you could clearly tell that he was rather confused for he started speaking in his native language. Though once he arrived at the demon he went back to the determined warrior he was earlier and took a few slices at the beast, two horizontal once and then followed by an elegant stab.

Roaring in pain, the demon struggled to break free, but Oswin held his ground. "Come on! Stab it! Stab it! Use that knitting needle of yours!" He shouted enthusiastically. "Go! Go! Go!" Watching the man continuing his assault against the demon, Oswin could suddenly feel the invisible build of energy.
"That can't be good..." He muttered. "Oi! You with the knitting needle! Run! Befo..." It was too late already. The energy burst outward in a large shock wave, obliterating Oswin's bindings. "...Oooow... Nevermind." He said awkwardly as he cringed at the sight of the man flying through the air.
Running over to the man, he chanted a spell. As he finished, a dozen or so diamond shaped object, which looked remarkably like actual diamonds, launched themselves into the air and started circling around the two humans. The demon paused, and if it actually had eyes he would have narrowed them now, Oswin was certain of this.
"Are you alright? If you can stab it a few more times, I think it'll be weakened enough for me to banish. I'll cover you, so you charge him and stab him with that knitting needle okay?" How anyone could sound so cheerful in a situation like this was a mystery for the ages.

"That can't be good..."
A quick moment of panic ran trough his mind, but before he could react to it he got blown away as it happend he vaguely shouted something like "Sacre bleu..." while flying trough the air, the man in red dress probably couldn't understand what he said, but by the tone of his voice he should have understood that it was some kind of swearing.
While flying trough the air he let go of his Rapier and made an elegant somersault upon landing on the ground, the Rapier landed next to him. He then got up and scratched his head a little while looking around him as the shield appeared. Deciding not to comment on the unbelievably cheerful mood of his companion he replied;
"Yes yes, buz this time I'll attack iet from a diestanze..."
You could tell he tried really hard to not sound from some place else, but he had too little experience in this new language. Grasping a few cards from his jacket pocket, he started enchanting them, the appearance of the cards remained unchanged, though after he was done it seemed they became more shining like a razor. While enchanting he muttered something like "Patron", which means boss in his native language.
"Now get ried of ze shield pliese."
He asked after getting into a combat stance ready to start throwing the playing cards.

"Shield? What shield?" Oswin asked with a surprised look. "You mean the gem missiles?" Flicking his finger the way one might shoot a pee, one of the circling gems rocketed off towards the demon, who only barely dodged the incoming projectile.
"See? Missiles. Not a shield. Quite impressive don't you think?" Could this man ever be not cheery? "By the way, that's an interesting skill you got friend." Firing another gem missile, Oswin was looking at the cards the man was holding. "Some form of item enchanting?" Apparently, now was as good a time as any for the warlock to discuss the finer points of ones magical abilities.
Two more missiles launched themselves at the enraged demon and Oswin started tapping his foot impatiently. "Well? Are you going to just stand there or are you actually going to help me get rid of this beast? Come on. Chop chop old chap, stop that dawdling."

Normally stuff like that would surprise him, but after seeing that demon nothing seemed to surprise him anymore. He simply nodded when the red robbed man asked if it impressed him. Of course it did impress him, but he had other things on his mind.
"Oui oui one could call iet itam enchantieng."
A little smirk appeared on his face as he replied when the man asked him about his skill. The smirk disappeared when he said something about dawdling, he didn't really knew what he meant, but by the tone of his voice he could tell that he had to hurry up. While holding the cards with his left he, he quickly grasped them one by one with his right hand and threw them with deadly precision at the beast. He tried to hit the beast at the throat and torso and hoped it was effective.

With the demon focusing on the more obvious threat of the gem missiles, it never saw the enchanted cards coming. Slicing right through the beasts thick skin, it howled in pain. Distracted by the pain, it never noticed the gem missile that shredded its head apart. Falling to the ground, red energy seeped from the lifeless body.
Crackling with power, like surges of electricity, the demon slowly regenerated itself. Even the head was already taking shape once again. Once again, several of the gem missiles ripped apart its flesh, the demon being an easy target while it was lying lifelessly on the ground.
Chanting in an ancient language, Oswin's words reverbed with power. Underneath the demon, a magical circle appeared. When the circle started spinning, it gave the illusion of having depth, making it seem like a bottomless pit. Golden strands of energy erupted from the 'hole' and dragged the demon in.
After the demon was taken care off, Oswin sighed and fell down on his butt. Worn out from the running, his injuries and the spells, he tried to concentrate. He was no longer able to sense the magical disturbance that had led him to find the demon. Well, that was one problem taken care off.
Looking at the foreigner, he grinned widely. "Another victory for the great and mighty me!" He cringed in pain, obviously his injuries were more severe then he had been letting on.

He was pleased to see that his attack was rather effective, even though the weird looking gems seem to have done a lot more damage to the beast. Getting ready to toss in a few more cards he saw the red robbed man had it all under control, with a surprised look on his face he watched as the man used some sort of skill to magically get rid of the beast.
At first he wanted to make a smart comment at the man for calling himself might and great, but then he noticed he got injured pretty badly.
"Carefull now, let's get you back tzo my shiep we got ze doctor there."
He spoke as he walked up to the man and gave him a hand.
"My name ies Benjamin Prideaux."
After telling him who he was he helped the man get up.
"Can you walk?"
He then asked while still holding his arm to make sure he didn't fall over or something.
