Name: Ruby Aveddis
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: Twenty-one
Height: 5'6
Weight: 132
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Green
Skin: Tanned
Place of Birth: Unknown
Place of Residence: None
Religion/Philosophy: Goddess Worship
Occupation: Bard
Mount: A sturdy black and white vanner mare named Fortune. Colorful ribbons are braided into the horse's mane.
Detailed Physical Description:
Ruby is tall for a woman, her height being equal to that of most men she meets. Her body is well toned from the discipline of a performer's lifestyle and tanned from her time on the road. Her thick red hair is wavy and unruly, tumbling down into her green eyes and over her shoulders when not tucked away under a colorful kerchief.
Ruby's belongings both reflect her rather eccentric lifestyle and suit her performances. She has quite a lot of jewelry, preferring to wear most of her wealth. Around her neck hangs a golden necklace bearing the symbol of her Goddess. From her ears and wrists dangle eye-catching gold and silver jewelry.
Her white blouse is covered by a red and violet bodice, set off by her shawl and many layers of multicolored skirts. Her boots, though well worn, are practical and sturdy leather fit for the life of a traveler.
The rest of her belongings include a coin purse (won tucked inside her belt), a bedroll, a small cookpot, flint, juggling hoops, a dagger, a spare (more common looking) dress, and her lute. With the exception of her instrument, these all fit neatly into a traveler's pack on her back.
Personality:
Much of the time, Ruby is quite easygoing and relaxed. She is (for the most part) content with her position in life and makes every effort to enjoy it to the fullest. She takes great joy in her music and freedom.
Still, she and her life are a far cry from perfect. Due to her familiarity with many of life's troubles, Ruby harbors a healthy suspicion of strangers. Although well intentioned, she often finds herself on the wrong side of the law. Life has taught her that at times, even the best performers can lose their luck and go . She is not above stealing or lying, should the need and opportunity arise.
Special Abilities:[/u]
Although not a magician or mage in the usual sense, Ruby has mastered the arts of sleight of hand and suggestion through words and music, which she prefers to fall back on long before physical violence is needed. She is a natural when it comes to bluffs and lying.
History:(Will be updated with more details at a later date.)
Born to a group of traveling entertainers made up of both family and friends, Ruby was able to learn a number of tricks and skills through observation and the patience of those around her. Her focus quickly became her music, and she eventually settled on the lute. Ruby devoted herself to her practice, and although she never did learn to read music, she became exceptionally good at picking things up by ear. In time, she became a key member of her troupe, using not only her music, but also singing, dancing and juggling to win coins for the common pot.
Life with her troupe remained much the same until recent years, when a large village they had stopped in fell to riots during a fire. Ruby became separated from them in the following panic and was forced to evacuate the area alone. By the time she was able to circle back and search, her troupe was nowhere to be seen. Devastated and lonely, she has hoped to hear some news of them during her travels.
