Descus gave kit a long look. "Boy," he said finally, "That is the very definition of magic. 'Whisper some words and stuff happens'. Although some can work magic without words but that's beside the point..."
He sighed, steepling his fingers in front of him as he leaned forward. "I'll be blunt here: I don't trust magic. Not one little bit. So much havoc can be wreaked with a single person's whim. I do not believe a person should be able to hold so much power in their hands, so to speak. There's not much I can do about it, but I try to minimise my contact with magic as much as possible. I recently ran into a mage of sorts... I believe in this tongue they're called necromancers? She raised three dead soldiers that ran amok in my camp before they finally collapsed. I've had more than enough to do with magic in my short time here."
The mage had affected him more than with just her magic, too. Her very appearance... He shook his head. "I'm not the type to chase down magic users and kill them, however, so you don't have to fear all too much from me." The corner of his lip quirked. "You don't anyways, a few words and I'm sure you could roast me alive, or all manner of terrible things. You just agree to keep your magicking to a minimum, and you can stay around."
If only Kit knew how nice Descus was being in that regard. Normally he would have just booted him out of his camp and told him to sod off, and quickly.

It was an understatement to say Kit was nervous about that long which the mercenary gave him. He was pretty much bullets, and he kept his gaze downward, not wanting to meet his gaze. But still, he felt it. "Ah well um. . .I suppose when you put it like that. . .it is magic. . ." Not really ever considering what he did to be magic, always just thinking of it was a 'gift', it was quite obvious now that he thought about it. It was magic. And he was a magician. He almost laughed, as he always thought of magicians as to be ones which were in the stories his parents read to him when he was younger. The ones which the long gray beards, glasses and purple clock and hat covered with stars. He was glad he didn't look like that anyway. "Ah, well I never go near to dead, I only control elements." It made a shiver run down his spine at the thought of his parents raising from the dead. In fact, it disturbed him so greatly that he quickly shut it out of his mind. Surprised by was Descus said, Kit raised his gaze and gave a curious look towards him, his eyebrows raised. It had been quite some time since someone had willingly let him stay somewhere, and it made him feel rather warm inside. An odd feeling which was rare to him. With a smile, he bowed his head, giving a awkward laugh as he said. "I promise I won't roast you alive, or do anything to do with magic. Thank you, you're starting to change my mind mercenary's being so horrible."
