Equipment[/u]
Clothing: Kiras, as a creature of luxury, prefer to wear naught but the finest wear. Whenever it’s tunics and breeches, robes or capes, wide-brimmed hats or hoods, everything he wears is specially made by preferred tailors and artisans, with his special emblem sewn into the fabric. His clothes are all made from the most expensive of fabric, tailored especially to his preferences, and often include such things as golden trimmings and leather padding. Even the thread was paid for with much gold; his finery is something of a symbol, a sign that he will splurge as much wealth as possible in order to acquire the best he can get, not caring for practicality or saving up his funds. On this note, it should be remembered that he seems to prefer the colors of onyx black, crimson red, and gold.
Jewelry: Kiras is in the habit of wearing only the finest jewelry he can find, often those found during his adventures or his work as a mercenary. Things such as simple gold and silver, he does not appreciate. Instead, the elf has a special fondness for bejeweled trinkets, with a great love for precious diamonds and baubles. Chipped and worn ones, he often sells or barters for other things, but those of a flawless and perfect nature are what he values most. One can often see various rings on his fingers, with rubies and sapphires and emeralds set into them, along with diamond piercings on his ears, and sparkling necklaces. For someone who is well known to devote a great deal of wealth in such things, it is notoriously difficult to part them from his hands, even when he happens to be asleep. There is, however, one thing he values above all others; a pendant, attached to a silver necklace, with a diamond set into it. It is the only thing he has that carries an connection to his shadowy past.
Armor: The elf does not wear much armor, beyond the clothes he wears. He does, however, wear leather gloves and boots, as he does a fair bit of fancy footwork and acrobatics in his fighting. He also has on him a thick belt strapped around his waist, with not only pouches and bags, but with a scabbard for his sword. A second belt is slung over his shoulder, however, and carries his backpack for him, along with yet another scabbard for the second of his swords. While not quite a piece of armor, he does wear a long cape with a hood, for the purposes of both traveling incognito and as protection from weather.
Weapons: As stated above, Kiras carries two swords, both of them with a single edge for slashing, both quite beautifully made and ornate, with hilts made out of gold with jewels set into them. These swords are his pride and joy, as they were the first treasure he has ever found. Kiras also keep a dagger on his person, for hunting and knife work that swords would be too cumbersome for. Apart from these, the elf carries with him a long bow, masterfully crafted and reinforced, with the string kept so taut that he is forced to use all his strength to fire off arrows; the draw back is that he cannot use the bow in quick succession, as doing so results in heavy penalties in range, power, and accuracy. He also does not have the strength to use his bow for long periods of time and uses it sparingly instead.
Other: Kiras keeps within a pouch on his person a pair of dice, seemingly well worn and quite smooth, with several chips on them. The dice, numbering one to six on each side, are among his oldest and most precious possession. The reason is that they are in fact magical, enabling him to lose and allowing his opponents to win as many times as he wish in games of chance, baiting and luring unsuspecting opponents into his trap before suddenly winning the entire pot for himself. They are, as it were, the perfect ‘weapon’ for a compulsive gambler like Kiras. It should be noted that sometimes the dice does not work as he expects, leading him to lose his entire fortune. Truly a double-edged sword, sometimes Kiras privately wonders whenever the dice have a mind of their own and laughs at their master’s misfortune. Life is, after all, a game of chance.
Mentality[/u]
General: Kiras D’aetheron is something of a charming rogue, along with being a compulsive gambler, a daring risk-taker, and above all, an incorrigible womanizer. Unlike most of his kind, he is a creature of luxury and a lover of games, finding joy in good times and pleasant diversions as opposed as to a lifelong pursuit of mastering one’s trade or engaging in the scholarly pursuits of academia. The elf enjoys wealth, good times, and excellent wines, finding there to be little else that is better in life. Hence, he is often on the road, doing mercenary work to pay for his way while partaking in adventures to line his pockets and acquire wonderful treasures and rare artifacts. The element of danger and risk also appeals to his senses and thirst for stories of grand exploits so that he may regale his comrades and good friends in past deeds and misdeeds alike. One could say that he is simply content to living life in the moment, as opposed as to resting and allowing his years to silently creep by; much like a human, he wishes to live his life to the fullest.
As a gambler, Kiras is quite drawn to games of chance, to card games, where he can test his luck and try his hand at acquiring a fortune. As an adventurer, he is never without gems and jewels, along with gold coins and trinkets, to gamble with. This, of course, is simply bait for him to draw in the most profitable game, the big spenders, those who bet big. His fine senses along with his magical, if not treacherous, dice allows him to prey on hapless fools, helping himself to their purses and making out like a bandit before they wise up to his act. It is not quite the act of winning that interest him most, nor is it the potentially lucrative payoffs, but rather the thrill of baiting one’s opponent, gently encouraging him to fall into a carefully prepared trap. It is, in reality, the thrill of the kill that he is drawn to. As charming and friendly as he may be, he is quite an unscrupulous rogue. However, he does not cheat or trick his opponents, finding that to be too disdainful even for himself. Doing so would simply be cheating him out of the experience, and thus, it would ruin the taste of victory.
Apart from all this, Kiras is quite fond of the better sex, enjoying spending time with the ladies. A womanizer without peer, he cannot help but cavort with women, regaling them with tales of his adventures while plying them with fine food and good wine, perhaps a trinket or a ring of some small value. Much like the games of chance, he is purely into this for the thrill of the hunt, for the moment where he moves in for the ‘kill’. Given both his immaculate physical traits and his charming and mesmerizing nature, he is undoubtedly quite good at his game, easily able to bring any woman into falling for his charms and wiles before departing them in search of another prey or two. This, however, tend to get him into trouble, as he does not discriminate in what kind of women he chases after, whenever they be single or married, yet deflowered or have bore children. Beauty is all that satisfies him, much like his wealth and luxury, and is all he needs to be interested in the hunt. This, naturally, have led him to be run out of towns by angry fathers and murderous husbands. They have not yet managed to lay a hand on the wandering elf, however, as there is nearly no man he cannot outrun.
Strengths: Kiras is especially talented at Swordplay and Acrobatics, along with being Athletic and owning Well-Trained Senses. He is a master Gambler and superb at judging things with his Perception. He is also a trained Marksman and exceptionally good at Running and Swimming. The elf also is proficient in Pickpocketing, Lockpicking, and Tailoring. You wouldn’t know it but Kiras happens to be quite good at Cooking as well, using the best of spices and choice ingredients to produce a fine meal.
Weaknesses: On the other hand, while he is quite agile and graceful, his strength is not sufficient for long battles and forces him to rely on words instead of swords. The elf is also overconfident and reckless, which is prone to getting him into trouble that could have been avoided in the first place. His womanizing ways also tend to land him in hot water and could potentially get him killed eventually. Kiras is also somewhat predictable when it comes to certain things and could unsuspectingly walk into a trap set by his enemies, if he has any. He also thinks little of danger, if the treasure is too great to ignore.
History: While he has lived for quite a long time, Kiras is quite secretive when it comes to his own past. Tales of adventures, stories of great treasures and terrible monsters, he’ll gladly tell. His past lovers or his best games, he’ll boast of. His wonderful jewelry or his beautiful swords, he’ll show off. But when it comes to his childhood, to his family, to everything else, the elf is notoriously tight-lipped and evasive. Instead of telling others, or even his closest friends, of his past, Kiras has instead buried that time in his life in nothing but half truths and whole lies. One day, he may say that he was once a great prince who chose to set off on a journey. The next day, he may instead say that he was orphaned and never knew his parents or home. And on yet another day, he may mention that he spent much of his life among humans, never knowing what it meant to be an elf. All of them seems to carry a hint of truth in them, but none of them seems quite real. They are all simply the fanciful yet fictional tales of a most charming rogue.
(I’ve decided to reveal bits and pieces of his past through RP threads, and whenever Kiras reveal a truth about his past, it will be added to his profile here. This is, I think, a much more fun way to roleplay the knave I’ve created. It should also be noted that the dice Kiras carries only work on NPCs, and if he does play against characters belonging to other members, he will lose to them instead. I’m sure it’s nothing, but it’s best to mention that, just in case.)
