"She's here, the demon girl is here!"
As the guard of the village yelled this, blowing an odd sounding horn to alert everyone, in a matter of seconds the doors of each house slammed open and people pooled out to the street to look at the rare sight, the girl, the one which everyone feared. Children were crying as they clinged onto their mothers, who were wrapping their arms to protect their child, and then the fathers, standing before them, a pitchfork in hand, willing to risk their lives to protect their loved ones. What idiots.
Standing on the hill which overlooked the small, pathetic village, Slyvia spread out her wings to full length, which by now had grown to a good 4 feet in length. With the moon only outlining her body and wings, it must have been a frightful sight. Yelling down to them, her voice as threatening and as angry as she could make it, she said.
"If you do what I tell you, I will not harm any of you. From each family, I need your best selection of food and your best article of clothing for the winter. If you do not leave these outside of your village in an hour, I will kill each and every one of you. I will kill your children in front of you, and then your wives, letting everyone hear their screams." Followed by silence, after a moment, what she presumed to be the leader told them all to do what she wished and so everyone went to their houses and began to collect what was needed.
Waiting until the hour was up, she then flew down to the bottom, just outside the entrance of the village. A old woman with braided hair and many necklaces made up of bones and such around her neck began to walk forward, two men holding large bags each following after her. Once a suitable distance, the men left the bags down and walked away, but the old woman stayed. Her gaze was piercing, making Slyvia very uncomfortable. It was silent, for a while, until the woman finally spoke.
"May you take these goods of ours with no anger or revenge and leave our village at peace, the girl whom was taken by the demon of humankind's sins." Crossing her hands, she bent forward, murmuring a prayer before returning to the village. Her blessing had surprised her, but she tried not to think too much of it as she collected the bags and with a last glance to the village spread out her wings and flew to the forest, where she had set base up for the night.
Safely in the woods, she emptied the bags, pleased with what she got. With a fire already started, she found a large piece of meat. Piercing it with a stick, she placed it over the fire and waited for it to cook. Looking up to the night sky, she saw it was a full moon. Just like...that night. The night where she met him.
Shaking her head, she refused to think about it, but her thoughts continued until she couldn't stop them. Sticking the stick into the ground, she opened her own little rucksack, which had torn and worn clothes, hence why she needed new ones. It was a cheap way of living, she it was better then freezing to death when winter came. And so, when she needed something desperately, she did a farce like that, although it made her cringe when she thought back to it. Digging her way past the clothes, she found what she was looking for. She was hesitant bringing it out, but after taking a deep breath she took out the trinket.
The butterfly trinket twinkled in the moon's ray. It had remained beautiful through all she had been through. After that day, she went looking for it, and after a long search, she found the pouch where it laid safely in. It was very precious to her, the only thing which she cared about. She still bore the scars which she had received that day, and ever since her wings had not flown as well. They were all a reminder. A reminder of that day. A reminder of Minh. His name still caused so many emotions to rise up and so many memories to come flashing back.
Had long was it? 2 years? 3? Who could count, she had lost track of time a long time ago. She had not changed too much, her face had become more angular, more feminine. Her body had become again more womanly, it quite a few areas, although it embarrassed her when she thought about it, still having her shyness of nakedness. Her hair was still the same, perhaps a little shorter since she had cut it recently for summer. Besides that, not much else changed. She was still the same Slyvia, perhaps a bit more mature. Just a bit.
Sighing, she tried to take her mind of the memories as she looked through the clothes to see what she got, and she was glad to see a fluffy warm looking hooded jumper, which after making her wings disappear, slipped it on and smiled at the warm fluffy sheep fur which was on the inside. It comforted her.
Returning back to her dinner, she picked up the stick again and laid the meat just above the fire, staring into its flames. All the while, she still held the trinket tightly in her grasp. How she wondered how Minh was doing. How she wish she could see him again, but as she had feared, she had lost track of him after the villagers from back then had taken him away. She had been too weak to follow them.
