Well, She's Doing Her Job...

Marcia burst through the undergrowth, back the way she'd came. The humongous, leonine creature, realising it hadn't caught the morsel it had pounced for, gave chase. Thankfully, Marcia had a small head start, and knew the forest. She leapt over a brook, unhooking her horn. She wasn't out of breath yet, having just started running, so she had enough breath for a surprisingly leisurely blast on her horn. Her thought process, as well, was surprisingly calm. Wasn't the oddest thing she'd come across in the forest, though she couldn't remember exactly what the beastie was. She briefly wondered about that, but she called her mind back to the situation at hand. It was gaining. She spun on her heal, pulling her wand from the scabbard on her hip, she swung it. An almost invisible puff of green was flung from it, and she was pleased to spot the creature's attention turn to the side. She was less pleased when it spotted her again at once. Distantly, she could feel Caeradwen's agitation at not being able to navigate the forest and help Marcia run, but the chase itself was rather distracting from soothing the mare.
