History:
In a far away kingdom, a young tavern girl was raped by a fierce demon lord. Unable to bear the unspeakable crime of killing the child, when she conceived it, she left the crying newborn alone along a winding road a short distance from the castle's walls. After she abandoned him, the child had two visitors. His father, whose schemes for him already had begun to hatch, left the child a silver amulet with a red, shining ruby. The second was one of the 's proudest knights, coming home from a long journey. Hearing the infant's cries, the knight dismounted his horse and swaddled the child in his cloak. He thought it a blessing from above, as his wife could not bear him a child, and he decided on that night to take the child and raise it as his own. He knew nothing of this peculiar child, except the engraved name upon the back of his amulet. "Gilashi," an ancient demonic word for Hatred.
Gilashi quickly grew strong, following his father as a page, then a squire. Though he was at first rejected for his strange appearance, he proved himself to be one of the most talented youths in the kingdom. The demon lord who fathered him could not have been more pleased. The knight and his wife treated Gilashi as of he was their own blood, but they never told him the truth of that fateful night. Gilashi enjoyed the path to knighthood, though long and arduous at times he enjoyed the pride that came when he finally became a knight. Though hesitant at first, from the stories of the terrifying power that came when he was enraged, or the strange reaction to the crosses and holy waters of the church, the eventually gave in and bestowed him his rightful title. That was the first time Gilashi laid eyes upon the . She was breathtakingly beautiful, long blonde curls and bright hazel eyes. She smiled favorably upon him, and his heart was won by her instantly.
Gilashi strived for his goal, and eventually was appointed the 's personal guard. He could not have been happier. Soon a friendship blossomed, and as time went by, romance was heavy in their midst. Many secret rendezvous and midnight embraces came their way, always careful of the 's wrath lest he discover their passion. Unfortunately, the demon lord was eager to fulfill his son's destiny, and awaken his demon heritage, and he knew exactly how. He appeared before the court disguised as a beggar, and told the he had seen the with Gilashi, and in quite the adulterous scandal. The , outraged at the claim, and with the assistance of the "beggar" devised a scheme. Two seperate letters were written, one to his , and one to Gilashi. The received hers, believing it to be from her beloved, and was told to meet in the stables at midnoon, where all would be solemn and secret. Unfortunately, what greeted her wasn't the arms of her love, but a blade deep into her abdomen. The had made her pay the price for betrayal, and the demon lord had set into motion the winds of fate.
Gilashi received his letter as well, being told to meet at the stables at dusk. As he rushed to see the , he was greeted only by the corpse of his love, her sapphire blue dress tainted with her blood. The had his fellow knights seize Gilashi and incarcerate him in the dungeon, where in the morning he would be publicly executed for his crimes. As Gilashi laid in the damp dark, his hope was shattered. His love was gone from this world, and he would join her tommorow. Laying in the stillness, he could not think, could not concentrate. All he knew was the constant steady beat of an aching heart. The pain was unbearable, and all he knew was the pain came from his heart. And so he rid himself of the source. Reaching into his chest, he tore his own heart from his body. That is when destiny was fulfilled.
When Gilashi renounced the only truly human aspect of his body, his demonic powers awakened. He felt no love, or heartache any longer. Only hatred, and a blinding red loathing for everyone in the kingdom. Tearing from his incarceration, one by one in a gruesome mission; everyone but the knight who took him in and his wife were massacred. The demon lord was pleased, he had unleashed his wrath upon the mortal world in the form of his spawn. For he could not appear through the mortal world in his true powerful form, but a demon who renounced humanity willingly could do the work for him. Gilashi continued in his bloodstained rampage, destroying any kingdoms he came across, all in the name of his own bloodlust. Until Tekkarro came.
Unbeknownst to Gilashi, the had been with child. Hiding it from both her husband and her lover, she left on a long journey, leaving before she began to show, and returning after the child had been given to a caring home. The child had grown strong like his father, and he was named after his adoptive father, Tekkarro. He had become a knight in service to a distant kingdom, and as the cruel fates had ordained, it is at this kingdom Gilashi made his last stand. He went through the kingdom, in his usual ravishing and raiding, when he spotted the knight approaching him ready for battle. He smelled blood, but this was different, for he smelt the blood of his love and his own running through this knights veins. Dropping to his knees, his heart was restored, but it was too late. With a thrust, Tekkarro had struck His own father down, without even knowing it was his own kin. The reign of terror Gilashi held was over. Peace returned.
It has been decades since Gilashi's death. While Tekkarro had struck Gilashi in the middle of his transformation back to semi-humanity, some demon power stayed within him yet. He awoke in a crypt, deep beneath the kingdom in some memorial to his slaying. Feeling the guilt and shame, and horrible anguish of the past, he stole away in the knight, traveling far from his past. Now he wanders, seeking purpose in life, and seeking redemption for the past. If and when he finds it, well, that is a story for another time....
Added notes regarding weakness: Though with the additional resiliency typical of demon kind, Gilashi is as mortal as any other man. When his heart was restored to him, so was the ability to die, and the only reason he did not die at the hands of Tekkarro is that he instead was struck into a coma until his heart was completely restored. In addition to be susceptible to normal means of harm, he is especially weak to blessed items of any sort. He does possess some healing ability, but is quite vulnerable. Once more, even if Gilashi were to reject humanity once more, though he would obtain his full demonic strengths, he would not be able to reclaim immortality nor a second chance at life again.
