"Is this all you men have?"
A woman, appearing to be no more than nineteen, stood in the center of a ring of men on the edge of the town, a bit far from any known person to really notice them. In fact, it could be said that they weren't even in the town anymore. Malya came looking for people that could help her find her brother and this is the thanks she gets when she just asks a few men where the nearest inn was? Really, how hard is it to actually get some measure of peace in this place without being attacked by strangers? Malya was trying to look for at least three other people and see if they would help her find her brother. Its not like Malya could find him on her own. It would be very dangerous for her to go alone to find him. Who knows what she would run in to. Now that she's here in the village, she just wanted to know where an inn was from some men. Turns out they were drunk humans, drunk crazy and turned their blades on her. Who knows what they wanted but they wanted something from her and Malya was not the least interested in finding out what that something was.
Of all their efforts to attack her with their claymores, which seemed to be little more use in their hands than a bottle of ale, they only succeeded in making her annoyed. Anyone that could run or evade a swing from a sword could avoid these pitiful strikes. She watched them and moved about whenever they tried to hit her but to no end that they missed time and time again. Seriously, a kid could evade these attacks. They had no form to speak of and as slow as hell to even a human. Standing on the outside ring of the men...counting only four as she watched them, the light breeze lifting her green cloak up some and making it flap about. Her light chest-nut eyes watched them, the color swirling around the black of her eyes slowly. She frowned sadly at the drunk men, seeing no point in even being here. Like they would come after her anyway. They had no sense of direction to speak of. She could feel the weight of her bag against her right leg and felt the cold wind go up against her left hand and arm, seeing as she had to in order to hold her dual- kodachi sheath, the sheathing pointing upward from her grip on the hilt. She didn't mind the cold though as she turned away from the men, intending to get away from them.
She walked down the dirt road path, going through the outskirts of the town now as she passed few buildings and few people during this time of the day. It was going to be sunset soon, about one or two hours away before dusk would fall and night would come. Good timing too as she didn't want to sleep outside again for tonight. Last night was not very pleasant for she was attacked by a troll. It was a small one at best and pretty stupid really. Although it would depend on your point of view as to what you would call 'small'. For troll size, small would be about nine foot tall, large arms, short legs, healthy green skin, fat as a bowling ball and a smell that would wake the dead. Yup, that's her view of small as far as trolls go. But in any case, the only thing on her mind was getting some people to help her. And on a side note, to get food. She was starving! She hadn't eaten since this morning because that was the last of her food. She now wished she hadn't eaten all of it. She could have used something as a snack when lunch came about and even now.
As time went by, maybe five minutes passing, she looked ahead to see a lot of busy people suddenly. Everyone was moving about, some laughing, others drunk and stinking to high heaven, and then others that were either trying to get home before the day became night or were just in a hurry. It was of little interest on Malya's part though, her gaze more on looking for an inn. She looked toward the buildings around her, finding that she was in one of the town's more populated sections so finding an inn might not be so hard for her. And indeed it wasn't as she looked upon a sign for the Night-Hide Inn. Why it was named that, she had no clue but instead, just walked over there to the front of the building. She passed and bumped into a few people, paying no attention if they said sorry, spatting curses at her or just kept on walking. She opened the door of the inn and went inside swiftly, not wanting to be outside much longer.
Once inside, she now knew why it was called its name. Rogues and mercenaries of every kind filled the place, almost all of them at tables while others were standing and next to the walls, chatting and such. Not everyone was one though as she could see a few farmers, traders, a shady figure every now and then. She knew she had to watch for something though, otherwise she might have something missing. The air was warm, inviting and rather calm despite the chatter of noise from all the talking. There was no tension in the air, nothing that seemed like the place would harbor any ill will to people that wish to come in. Plus in the air, she could smell that of drinks from ale to wine...even some spice wine. She loved the spice wine. Some more than others and found that she liked the taste of it. She knew though to hold off of the wine for now. She just needed food. She looked around the place, seeing a set of stairs that lead upward to a high balcony in the same room which lead to doors to halls for the rooms. She also saw a bar to the side on the first floor, people at the front drinking or talking...maybe both. She walked over slowly to it, still having second thoughts about something of her's going missing but seeing as the place looked okay enough with the atmosphere, maybe she'd chance it. She stopped at the corner of bar counter and looked down it, finding that the bartender was nowhere to be found or even the owner at the moment. Great, looks like she'll have to wait before she can get a room along with some food. A growl echoed from her stomach, drowned by the noise of the room as a small blush appeared on her cheeks, hoping that no one heard that.
