The snowy wind howled as the onset of Tamasha's harsh winter made its approach. Few people were among the streets, but those who were were tightly wrapped in blankets and furs. On this day, most people were either enjoying their heated homes or were filling into the many taverns and pubs the town offered. One dwarf, however, was making his way out of Tamasha. He had planned to make his trip today, and he could not reschedule for the mere coming of winter. The dwarf exited the town's heavy gates without a backward glance. *** As the dwarf padded along the snow-hidden trail, he saw a cabin sitting on the horizon. How good, he thought, would it feel to just kick back and relax for a while.....but no, he had to keep going--no stops for anything. But, the dwarf was exhausted and numb throughout his entire body, so a stop would be necessary sooner or later. As the dwarf approached the cabin, he saw the light of a fire from the inside. Not expecting inhabitants this far away from civilization, the dwarf made his way to the cabin's door and knocked.

The young female glanced up from the hot bowl of stew in front of her, she almost fell from her milk stool at the knock. Her host got up from his seat and went to the door. He opened it a crack, for the weather was a flurry, and then a dwarf stepped inside. Snowflakes twirled about the cabin and then melted in the girl's honey hair. "Yes, yes, the snow is quite nasty. Sit down, would you like some stew?" the hermit asked the dwarf as he motioned to a chair at the table where the girl sat and went to the stew pot over the fire.

Orik followed the man through the small cabin to where a girl was sitting. The man indicated a bowl full to the brim with hot stew, and he proffered it to the dwarf.
"Thank'ee, but I just got done with a large meal." Orik said. Though he said this, he had not eaten for quite some time, but he had learned to never take food nor drink from a possible foe. "If I could stay 'til the blizzard clears up, though, I'd be grateful." Orik said. "After that, I'm off ter the Selkia Forest, where me next assignment is."
Orik, trying to be polite, acknowledged the girl sitting at the table. "So, what's yer name?"

Kimara Severn strolled through the inn to the front desk and paid for the tab for the room and food from the night before. The exchange done, Kimara bundled up and headed out into the snowy night. It was a long walk back to the mountains and the home that lay far within them.
Sighing, Kimara began walking and the snow began to become worse. After about an hour, Kimara reached a deserted spot and saw a light flickering among the swirling flakes.
Pleased, but cautious, Kimara headed towards the light and soon saw that it was a cabin. Kimara made it through the howling winds to the door and leaned against the doorjamb for a minute. I am getting too old to traipse around in weather such as this, Kimara thought. Raising back up, Kimara knocked.
The door was opened by an old man, who looked to be someone who lived alone, but appreciated company. He beckoned Kimara inside and Kimara went. Inside Kimara saw that there were other guests of the man this night: A girl and a dwarf. Odd company, Kimara thought.
The old man was offering stew and Kimara accepted, setting down across from the girl. The girl was not looking so Kimara nodded to the dwarf in greeting and began to eat.
