Suddenly, the cheering from the goblins turned into screams of pain. Tristran opened his eyes, still dazed from the battle, and saw the goblins’ bodies laying lifeless on the ground. A dark figure stood before him, and before Tristran to recollect what had happened, he began to fall into a deep sleep.
He awoke and found himself in a forest. A strange man sat in front of him beside a crackling fire.
“Glad to see you are still alive,” the stranger commented.
As Tristran began to rise to his feet, pain shot through his entire body. He quickly fell back to the grassy floor.
“Take it easy,” the man said. “You took some nasty hits back there. It’s a wonder you are still alive.”
Tristran suddenly remembered the goblin attack. He fought the stinging pain and got to his feet once again. “Where are we? Why did you save me? What happened?” Tristran’s rage began taking the best of him. His body began to grow numb and he felt him falling again.
The stranger caught his body and held him there for a moment. “Don’t grow angry at me boy. I’m not the one who destroyed your home.” He placed Tristran back down and began to walk off as Tristran wept.
The man and Tristran traveled together for many years to follow. The man taught Tristran how to use a sword and bow and how to be in harmony with nature. He said that, “If you are able to understand the world, you are able to understand yourself.” Tristran became to understand the world and how nature was. He even found a friend who has been with him ever since. His eagle partner, Arnon.
It has been 5 years since the man who had saved him died, and Tristran finds himself alone in the vast world, trying to find purpose in his life.
