Physical Description: though he can alter his shape (see ''abilities'') Erian usually appears like a teen-aged human boy tall 5'6" with short black hair. as for the eyes, they are usually black, but the color changes depending on the activated vision mode (e.g.: green -> night vision, red -> thermal etc.)
Personality: Being an exploration drone Erian was programmed to be extremely curious about everything new. the eingeneer who projected him built a secondary processing unit in his chest, a sort of 'heart' in contrast with the central 'brain', in order to grant him free will and emotions, but he still remains unable to understand them fully.
when it comes to fights he uses a 'run and dodge' tactic while observing the enemy's combat patterns, and then elabourates a strategy to counterattack.
Abilities:
- Shapeshift: Erian can alter his shape (partially or fully) to better fit the situation. this ability is however limited by his size: though he can shrink down to the size of a mouse, he can by no means morph into something whose total mass is bigger than his basic form (aka: the black-haired kid)
- Enhanced Vision: as said in the description, Erian's eyes are equipped with state-of-the-art filters. he can activate only one filter at a time and when he does his iris' colour changes accordingly.
black -> no filter equipped. (his eyes are equipped vith an optical zoom by default, so he can zoom-in with any filter)
green -> night vision. this filter enhances even dimmer light sources, allowing him to see in the darkness. while using this filter Erian can easily be blinded by normally-not-particularly-bright lights
red -> thermal filter. this filter can show the temperature of objects based on the quantity of IR-light radiations emitted. this system is anyway easily tricked with the use of isolating materials.
violet -> UV filter. this is a combined emitter-reciever system: the iris emits the UV light and the pupil recieves the light reflected by UV-sensible objects (in particular biological matter, for example blood, and most animals and flowers).
grey -> electro-magnetic field viewer. this visor superposes a virtual representation of the EM fields to the real images. useful for finding radioactive materials.
white -> echo filter. this is not exactly a 'visual' filter, since the eyes are not directly involved, but it anyways allows to 'see'. it works in combination with the auditive sensors: a set of 6 special microphones inside Erian's body emit high frequency 'beeps' at a fast rate (30 per second), which bounce off obstacles and are then percieved by the ears. each microphone emits a differently pitched sound (all between 6 and 12 MHz), so by calculating the differences in time from the reflected beeps of each microphone his core brain can elaborate a fairly accurate 3D reconstruction of the surroundings, and thanks to the fast rate of 'images' (30/sec) also of anything moving in them, within a radius of 5 meters (it can reach 10M in caves and until 20M in water). this system gives Erian a 360° field of wiew, but it is very risky to be used in combat because no other view filter system can be used while this is active and it can be disrupted by high-pitched sounds.
- Universal Interface: Erian has the ability to interface his system with any other elecrtonic system (therefore the codename ''Chimera'')
Weaknesses: other than the weaknesses connected to his view sensors' filters Erian, being a robot, is very sensitive to electricity and EMPs. though his core processing and memory units are well protected, the rest of his body would be paralyzed and open for every attack.
History: 11 years ago, on a station horbitating around earth, a group of researchers coming from all over the solar system of Syla were working on a project called ''Chimera''. the goal of the project was to create a machine able to live and disguise himself among the humans, while gathering informations about them.
one year later, the android, named ''Erian'' after the son of the head researcher, was sent to earth, and since then it's constantly sending informations to the station.
