Age- Twenty-seven
Race- Human
Occupation- Mercenary, guard for hire.
Strengths- Swordplay, Close Quarters Combat, Tolerance to pain, the grace of Ares.
Weaknesses- Power, riches, those quick with ranged weapons, as well as skilled mystic arts.
Weapons- Obsidian-carved longsword, dual katanas, bladed gauntlets.
Description- Kain's looks matched that of most young men; Tall, well built, an otherwise handsome man.. If not for the battle scars that riddled his body. To note the easily seen attributes of this man, one would find piercing green eyes, as lush as the tropical forests; Shoulder-length, auburn hair that seemed tinged with the blood of battle, and a rather nasty scar trailing down the left side of his neck. A near death experience, no doubt.
While these features were noted in Kain's facial appearance, his armor stood out more than anything else about him. Crafted from enchanted obsidian, the graced gift of Ares himself, this armor shone with a dusky hue of crimson and covered only the organs or more necessary portions of the body- leaving exposed his elbows and lower shoulders, as well as his knees. Leaving shin-guard, bracers covering his forearms and biceps, and a flex-ribbed chest-plate that was chipped and scarred itself from battle.
Strung firmly to his back were two sheathed katanas, a gift from a poor old fool in the Ularian Ridge. And between them, a crafted blade made from the same stone of his armor, baring a single edge that curved from narrow tip, to thickened base, leaving only a chiseled place for the hilt. A weapon that had show no need for true defenses. And finally, his bracers, fore-mentioned as guards to his arms also bore two blades along the outside of each, made of solid obsidian, much in the same fashion as his longsword; This ensured that even up close, he could catch his enemy's more vulnerable points.
Personality- Kain held himself as most mercenaries did, blunt, arrogant. Though on top of these oh-so-wonderful traits, Kain also held honor in combat above all else, never denying his enemy a clean death or worthy opponent. Fealty to Ares was all he knew, and any chance to prove himself, he would take. Man or woman, it made little difference.
History- Kain was raised as little more than a farmer's boy at the base of Blaze Mountain, his father having learned the fertility of the soil enriched by the volcano's grace. For years they remained alone, unburdened with the troubles of others and free to be as they willed. Kain's father, although a weakened man, never failed to find the time to baptize his son in the fires of combat, after all, besting a small boy was hardly difficult. Enriched in the glory of battle in service to Ares, Kain grew to be a strong young man indeed, though ill-prepared for the truth of combat itself.
The years had passed as both Kain's skill grew, and his father's health waned; Until one mid-summer day a group of guards, as far as Kain could tell at the time, paid a visit to the ill farmer and his son. Bound and gagged, Kain found himself dropped to his knees, forced to watch as the guards beheaded his father, making claims of thievery and murder. Once finished, the guards took no further acts toward Kain... save for one, pegging his father's head to a spike and planting it before him, leaving him bound to stare back into his father's lifeless eyes. Blinded by rage Kain had manged to free his gag and spewed whatever witless insult he could find, clearly egging on these honor-less brutes... And oh how it worked.
One of the guards turned, still wielding the bloodied axe used on his father, and swung with full force, cleaving from Kain's lower chest, and up the left side of his neck, silencing those pitiful little insults with a gargle of blood.
As the guards took their leave, laughing and acting as though the tragedy committed were not, Kain's eyed blackened... With what little life remained, he pledged himself to Ares, offering himself as payment, servitude so long as he breathed, for a chance at revenge. For a chance to see true combat against those who'd performed such a cowardice act.
