Amrod, I want to ask you something, don't worry its not about Danny, its...I guess there's one other thing you should know about me.

Amrod looked at Raine however, he continued to walk.

There is nothing I should know about you, nothing is important, nor can it matter... Amrod trailed off the rest of his thought and muttered under his breath more than your safety.

Say what you need to say, but say it quick. We have almost a weeks worth of walking to do before we come to the next town. And I for one, don't want to spend more time in the desert than need be.

[laraine]

Raine nodded, following him quickly and sighing. "See, the story I told you, before that there is more..another part of my past for why I became so wild before I met Danny. I guess witnessing my parents death wasn't enough. But in the end, I actually did kill my own father." She swallowed, remembering the night vividly. "After mom died, well he went mad. He thought it would be better for everyone if we both went where mom was and he tried to kill me. I lost control of my powers from the fear I experienced and well...the power destroyed him." She laughed softly, a hand covering her face as they walked, either trying to hide tears or to hide her embarrassment.

"Thats all, but you are right we should hurry." She sped up, not wanting to see his face, to see the expression of her confession.

Amrod sighed deeply as he increased his pace in order to catch up to Raine. He gently put his hands on the back of her shoulders and stopped walking, he turned her around slowly.

Raine...you have no need to know this, and yet I am telling you anyway. I was once high prince of the high city of the elvish consulate. My father was high and my mother high . I was degraded and belittled at the loss of my younger brother. I was blamed and I was exiled from the high city. I lived in the forest bordering the high city until the day I could take it no more. I walked into the gates and I started to make it rain fire, I destroyed the entire city and with it my parents. I left and found this crystal... Amrod grabbed Urisen and held it so she could see. He is a god who was trapped in the crystal, he is looking for salvation and thrives on my inability to feel emotion.

Amrod looked into her eyes, and smiled again, as he did when he was Danny.

However, there is something else you must know. Something I cannot simply say, because I do not entirely believe it myself. I cannot remember my childhood, I cannot remember how I got the scars I have, I cannot remember a lot. However, I do remember this...Danny is a lot closer to you than you know. A lot more than you possibly could ever know.

Amrod moved his left hand and slowly covered Raine's face, his middle finger along her nose, his ring and forefinger across her lfet and right eye, his pinky on her cheek and his thumb on her other cheek. He slowly slid his hand to her chin, and then took his hand away. Without another word he continued walking.

Why did you do that?

That is the only thing I can remember of Danny, whether I met him or I am him. He loved her, and that is how he showed his feelings.

That is how you showed your feelings. Because Amrod, you are Danny. As much as you are a mercenary.

Raine, stunned watched as Amrod walked away, the figure slowly transforming in her minds eye to one of a young boy with black hair and shining blue eyes.

"Danny?" She whispered to herself. Images flashed in her mind of how Danny put his hand over her face and to her chin before he kissed her. She touched her chin gently where Amrod put his own hand.

Could...he be....No..it's not possible..It cant be, yet...

She followed him, slowly. Her mind was running a mile a minute. She couldn't wrap her mind around her thoughts.

He's Danny...no...that cant be true..Danny..I saw the life leave Danny's eyes. Yet....

A sudden fear ripped through Raine and she ran at Amrod, finally reaching him and wrapping her arms around him from behind.

"Amrod....please...say what I'm thinking is wrong...I'm crazy right? You can't be..."

Amrod felt the weight hit his back and instantly released his right arm blade, keeping it in front of his body.

Amrod....please...say what I'm thinking is wrong...I'm crazy right? You can't be...

Amrod slowly retracted the blade and snapped the lock into place. He turned around to face Raine. He slowly pushed her away from him and looked into her eyes, moving her hair gently out from in front of her face. He smiled slowly.

Raine...you are so much more beautiful than I remember.

He saw the tears start to form in her eyes, he turned, keeping his composure. He walked away from Raine, leaving her there, staring at his back.

I cannot hurt her, I cannot be him. This is not possible. Why now? Why?

[laraine]

"Danny.." Raine whispered, once again watching as he walked away. "But...how?" She knew, she knew that form held Danny's soul. But she didn't know why or how.

He is Danny, and yet he isnt..

She put her hands over her face, crying. He walked farther and farther. It seemed as if she would lose him a second time.

She ran after, tears still falling down her face. Raine's happy go lucky mask was crumbling.

And that was when four demons surrounded them once more.

A fifth demon appearing before Raine. One she knew all too well. Pink hair, red eyes. A rusted old sword.

"Its you.." She hissed, grabbing her wand and transforming it into a sword. "Rusty.."

Amrod watched as the 4 demons appeared in front of him. He stared but did not move, he was running through every situation in which these demons could die for what they had cost both him and Raine already.

Its you...Rusty... Raine had hissed from behind him.

Amrod turned and noticed the familiar looking demon, and yet he knew that he had never fought him before. At least, from Amrod's point of view.

Urisen started to glow resplendently from under Amrod's shirt. He grabbed it and squeezed, thoughts running through his mind. His own, mixed with thoughts of Urisen and a man holding a woman with pink hair, she was crying while holding him. Then to Rusty, who stood laughing and smiling.

Rage overtook Amrod, he lunged at the 4 demons in front of him. He stabbed the bastard sword through the biggest of the four and pulled up sliding it through the top of his cranium, then lurched at the two beside the now dead one, arms crossing as his arm blades flash and then bury into demon flesh, pulling to the sides until they release and the continued momentum pulls the blades into each of the subsequent demons, slicing across the already slit throat. Amrod was on the fourth demon before the lat two hit the ground. He grabbed at the demons throat and squeezed, feeling the throat start to crush. The demon his Amrod in the chest and flung him back, but Amrod kept his grip. While in the air he turned over and snapped the demons neck, Naara!, the demon burst into flames and landed on the ground. Instantaneoulsy Amrod was on his feet, staring at Rusty, then looking to Raine and back to the demon from his past.

Amrod took a step towards him and grabbed the side of Raine's arm. He pulled her close enough to whisper to her, I am not losing you again, I love you, he leaned forward and kissed her quickly. He let go of Raine and lunged at Rusty, bastard sword still on the ground and his arm blades retracted.

[laraine]

Raine's eyes widened as he whispered the three words, "I love you" before kissing her. Then seemingly jumping into battle with the one who had killed Danny. It was getting harder to distinguish the two now. Danny and Amrod seemed to blend into one being.

"Da-Amrod!" Raine yelled as he ran into battle with Rusty.

Rusty smirked and held up his blade, deflecting the first few blows from Amrod's arm blades.

"Oh look here, Laraine has a new boyfriend for me to slaughter. The last one made such a mess." He laughed. "But you will be much worse."

Raine could only look in horror. She took a step to help, but her body suddenly lost energy.

Dont help him...

She fell to her knees, the pain in her head consuming her thoughts.

I have to.......help....him...

No Laraine..

She cried.

I wont see him die a second time.. I cant!!!

You are a fool..

Who are you?

Silence answered her, but the pain didnt recede.

Danny......Amrod.........Danny....Amrod!

Amrod could feel the pain emanating from behind him. He turned quickly, afraid that Raine was in danger. He saw her on the ground, hands on her head again. Assuming it was because of Rusty, Amrod turned and glared at him. He lunged again, this time grabbing Rusty by the throat.

What are you doing to her?

He threw Rusty to the ground and landed on top of him. He grabbed his hair and started to repeatedly beat his head on the ground. He let loose his right arm blade and held it above his throat. Everytime that his head lifted up, it would scrape the blade, cutting his throat but not cutting deep. Finally Amrod stopped and turned the blade point first at Rusty's trachea. He pressed slightly.

I could kill you without a second thought, or I could think about it. Your choice, what are you doing to her?

Rusty started to laugh. All I am saying, is that it is close to her birthday. A very important birthday.

Wrong answer, Amrod said cooly. He then smirked and bent down to Rusty's face, I do have to admit, I was infuriated last time I saw you. Even more so when you killed me. But I have come to learn, Elves are much more efficient when it comes to not dying than humans are. Amrod watched as Rusty's eyes slowly pieced together what he said. The realization of it hitting him too late. Yes, Rusty, I am Danny. And now, you are dead. With that said, Amrod thrust his right arm blade into Rusty's trachea and his left arm blade impales his heart. Naara! The flames shooting out through the newly open wounds.

As he watched Rusty die, Amrod quickly rose and ran to Raine. He dropped to his knees, looking at her.

Raine...are you ok?

[laraine]

Raine looked up to him and smiled softly. The pain had stopped for the time being. She nodded. "I'm okay now Amrod. What about you? Are you all right?" She touched his cheek with her hand.

"Rusty didn't hurt you, did he?" She looked worried.

What I am...doesn't matter. We need to get going, your family will catch wind of what happened here and take advantage of it.

Amrod got up, helped lift Raine to her feet, and then started walking South, towards the next town.

He sped up his pace, in order to put space between himself and Raine. When he was far enough away, he looked down at his chest. It felt as if it had caved in. He raised he right hand to feel and his hand came away filled with blood.

He slowly started to breathe. Focusing his energy on his new wound. He could feel it start to stitch itself back together. He gasped slightly as the final steps of the healing took place.

With that done, he looked back and saw Raine catching up to him. He placed his hand on his chest and took it away bloodlessly.

Not a word of this is to be known by her.

[laraine]

Raine looked at him as he helped her to her feet. She followed him as fast as she could, finally catching up to him. She still had so many questions.

But how can I ask them without offending him? How can I ask Danny how he returned? Even if he is Danny and yet not? I'm so confused.

She watched him, worried he might be injured from the fight with Rusty.

Amrod, what are you thinking? You must be taking this much harder than I.

She walked faster and caught up to him, She wrapped her arms around his.

"Amrod...I'm so sorry." She said softly. "I couldn't protect Danny from dying before my eyes and now...You are in so much danger because of me..."

Amrod slowly turned towards Raine and smiled again. Repeating the motion with his hand over her face. He kept his forefinger over her lips and kissed his finger tip.

Raine, I don't know how many more times I can say this before you believe me. I am Danny. I don't know how, I don't know why, hell, I didn't know a thing about it until now. You are putting me in no more danger than our adventures when we were younger. Or even when we grew up. We have always been in trouble. So what do you say, one more adventure? For old times sake?

[laraine]

Raine smiled softly. "I know you are Danny, but yet not. You are his soul, I can see that clearly. But this body is Amrod's...I'm so confused I don't even know what to call you so you wont be offended. Danny, Amrod, your both the same and I want to be with you forever. I love you as well. I just dont want to hurt you. I don't want to lose you again..."

She grasped his arm a little tighter and looked up into his eyes. This time she pushed herself up and kissed him. The kiss was longer than his.

She pulled away slowly, gently. "I don't want you to go through that ever again..."

Raine, nothing will happen to me again. I am here to stay. And this body, person, whatever I am, will live longer than you. I am here entirely. For now and forever.

Amrod looked at Raine, and turned, continuing to walk towards the village.

Do you believe me now?

I don't know what to believe. But somehow, I do exactly what he does or did and don't even remember anything about any of this. And she believes I am him. I may not care what she has to say, yet believing I am, who she thinks I am will keep her safer than her thinking she lost him forever.
