Physical Description: The commons room of the inne seemed a fine place for a battle between the flickering firelight and the consuming shadows. At a table near the doorway sat a lone figure, unquestionably feminine by the very nature of her shape. Slender but defined, small structured bones and smooth skin, these descriptions fit her well. Despite a delicate nature, she was a woman with an inner strength. Long, loose curls of ruddy sable were left loose to tumble about her shoulders, unfettered and untamable to match her disposition. A lift of thick lashes revealed the cool and level gaze of jade hued eyes and the spark of an intelligence well beyond her human years. At her tabletop a graceful hand lingered on the handle of a heated mug, the steam dancing before her as she lifted it to take a sip. Tea. Only tea.
At the seat nearest hers rested a thick, warm cloak, draped over the seatback to remain clean. The clothing she had donned for the evening was functional: A full skirt of mottled greens and browns cinched at her lithe waist by a rich coffee-shaded corset. The blouse beneath was simple and light, its sleeves draping elegantly before disappearing beneath matching leather bracers. The hide matched that of her boots, which laced evenly to mid-calf. Again her mug was taken up, pressed to soft lips that sipped the pungent brew. The last was taken in mere moments later, and the lady rose to stand. Her dark cloak was taken up with nimble fingers, its weight settled over her five foot seven frame. One last time did jade eyes draw all in before she made her way out into the night.
Personality: To those who do not know her, Aithne comes off a bit cool and confrontational at first. She likes to size up those around her, gauge their abilities and note any weaknesses. Beyond the first few minutes rests the warmer side of the mage. She isn't one to keep secrets about herself, and takes pride in her chosen profession. Aithne is loyal to her friends and family and rarely ever holds a grudge. Her sense of humor is lacking, however, and most who know her consider it to be very dry and humorless. Things she finds amusing might not be as funny to others. She's not afraid to stand and fight, though her real talent lies in the spells she has accumulated over the years.
Despite her lack of witticism, Aithne is a very intelligent individual. She has a high respect for fine art in all of its many forms, and often indulges in enjoying it. Some would call her a classy, refined woman, and Aithne would revel in the endearment. There are few things that she would actually claim to loathe. Creatures of unquestionable evil would be at the top of this list and soon following would undoubtedly be politicians of any type. In Aithne's mind there is almost no distinguishing from the two. She is kind when the need calls for it and unmerciful in the face of her foes.
History: Aithne was born practically with a silver sp00n in her mouth. Her parents were both mages of high power, though only her mother is alive today. She has no siblings to speak of, but was brought up with the understanding that one should not overlook the little things in life. Her father had demanded respect and he got it willingly; Aithne had adored him to his very last breath. She was given the finest tutors, being taught to follow in her parents' footsteps to become a skillful mage. Suitors called on her often, though Aithne hadn't been one to let her heart rule her. Instead, she put all of her attention into her studies, and as such, it has left her more alone than ever. On her twenty-first birthday she set out to explore the world, keeping herself out of as much trouble as she possibly could. With a few seasons of "field experience" under her belt, she has proven to be a valuable asset to just about any party she's come across. Now, all she is in search of is friendship and good times...and maybe even a little adventure along the way.
Weapons: Aithne has only a single blade: A small, jeweled dagger. This was given to her by her father on her eighteenth birthday, and Aithne would be very hard pressed to depart with it. Her other weapons of choice are her spells, some of which have a rather nasty bite.
Spell List: The following is Aithne's current spell list:
Flare - A cantrip spell that creates a burst of bright light. If the spell is cast so that it causes the light to burst directly in front of a single creature, that creature may become dazzled.
Light - This spell causes an object to glow like a torch, shedding light in a 20-foot radius from the point the caster touches. The effect is immobile, but it can be cast on a movable object. Light taken into an area of magical darkness does not function.
Mount - This spell summons a light horse or a pony to serve the caster as a mount. The steed serves willingly and well. The mount comes with a bit and bridle and a riding saddle.
Obscuring Mist - A misty vapor arises around the caster. It is stationary once created. The vapor obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. This spell does not function underwater.
Magic Missiles - A missile of magical energy darts forth from the caster's fingertip and unerringly strikes its target. The missile strikes unerringly, even if the target is in melee or has anything less than total cover or concealment.
Fireball - A fireball spell is a burst of flame that detonates with a low roar and deals fire damage to all creatures within the area. Unattended objects also take this damage. It can melt metals with a low melting point, such as lead, gold, copper, silver, or bronze.
Black Tentacles - This spell conjures many rubbery black tentacles. These waving members seem to spring forth from the earth, floor, or whatever surface is underfoot—including water. Each tentacle is 10 feet long. A tentacle maintains its successful grapple even after its subject is dying or dead.
Fire/Chill Shield - This spell wreathes the caster in flame and causes damage to any creature who attacks the caster in melee. The flames also protect the character from either cold-based or fire-based attacks (depending on the type of shield cast). Warm Shield: The flames are warm to the touch. The character takes only half damage from cold-based attacks. Chill Shield: The flames are cool to the touch. The character takes only half damage from fire-based attacks.
Ice Storm - Great hailstones pound down, dealing blunt force and cold damage to creatures in their path.
Spells To Be Gained: The following are spells that Aithne will gain upon receiving more training:
Chain Lightening - This spell creates an electrical discharge from the caster's fingertips. Chain lightning strikes one object or creature initially, then arcs to other targets, dealing electrical damage.
Sword - The caster brings into being a shimmering, swordlike plane of force. The sword strikes at any opponent within its range, as the character desires. As a force effect, it can strike ethereal and incorporeal creatures.
Summon Monster VIII - This spell summons an Elemental of the caster's choice. It appears where the caster designates and acts immediately on the caster’s turn. It attacks the caster’s opponents to the best of its abilities.
