>EVIL<-- The only difference in his evil stage is that his eyes turn a dark green
and he is filled with unholy powers. This can be prevented with ease but if he is not careful
he will be overtaken and become evil.(Until I so choose to return him to good)
Personality:Being that he is a paladin he is of the proper and humble nature. He is strongly devoted to serving god's will. Destroying evil wherever it stands. He is a kind hearted soul who will give help however possible. He is always a force to be reckoned with, sleepy awake drunk or sober.(yes he has a few ales now and again to celebrate a great victory...or to have a good time). Very few who have clashed steel with him have lived to tell the tale.
His dark side is is nothing but pure evil however. In this case he will do whatever possible to cause chaos and pain to those who stand in his way. He gains unholy powers and is even more destructive than he is in his more sane state of mind.
History:As a child he lived in a large city known as "Heavens gate". His father was a blacksmith for the league of paladins known as "The Silver Hand". He was the best blacksmith in all of heavens gate, and was always busy in his work. So he has his son (Belgone) help him with the bellows and the material carrying. It was Belgone's job to bring the metals used in the weapons and armor to the temple to be blessed with the prayer of life. Time after time he carried the metals to and from the temple growing stronger and more used to the weight every day. At the end of the day he had numerous blisters and cuts from the metals. He would only quote his father with each blister. "It all turns to calluses eventually". This was his fathers favorite saying of all time and he said it often. It is from him he learned the trade of smithing and smelting.
His mother was a priestess in the temple of the silver hand.(healer/holy woman). She would see her son every day as he carried the metal to the temple to be blessed. She would always give him a drink and some bread to keep his strength up. she was a simple woman and she loved her work. It is from her he learned the holy belief and its magical uses.
In his teen years he began to take his fathers place as the personal smith of the silver hand. This was his future, he would grow older, become strong and serve the silver hand in his own way... This is what he thought would be. One fateful day in the city he was smithing a sword for a great paladin known as Uther. He was the strongest paladin in all of the order. He had slain many a demon and even a dragon or two from the olden days. He was all that riotousness stood for in the city. Uther came to his the forge himself to pick up the blade. He looked upon Belgone and the divines shined upon him. After he retrieved his sword, he spoke with the boys father. An agreement was made that young Belgone was to be Uther's Squire.(shield bearer,or assistant) From then on Belgone began to learn the ways of the paladin and of the holy order.
In his journeys Belgone grew stronger and wiser in the ways of combat, strategy, and holy magic. Belgone's job was to ensure that all of Uther's equipment was kept safe and his sword and shield wear always at hand. Over the years Belgone began to surpass even Uther in some fields of training, but no paladin in the world was greater than Uther in the use of heavy weapons and their fines.
On his 19th birthday Belgone was officially named a paladin of the silver hand by Uther, Grend the holy, and Max the wise, the three most important paladins in the order. It was finally official Belgone was a paladin and he was now forever more on a mission from god himself to stop evil and help others wherever he went. He continued to travel with Uther at his request until one day Uther told him that this may be their final day as holy brothers on earth. Belgone knew this meant Uther was in great danger in his next battle, never had he herd such seriousness come from Uther before. They gave each other a mighty hug and a handshake for it would more than likely be the last. Before Uther left for battle he gave Belgone his book of prayers and spells of the silver hand. This had been passed down from paladin to paladin sens the starting of their order. Each paladin carried a copy of this with him or her. "Wait for me at the inn near town If i do not return word will be given to you". Those were the final words he said as he joined a large group who went to battle along side him.
For days he waited for word and one day some finally came... Belgone saw a scrawny man dashing toward the inn as fast as he could. "Are you Belgone?" The man asked. "it depends on who's asking" Belgone replied. "I bring word from Uther he told me to find you". Belgone's eyes widened. He grabbed the man and shook him roughly. "Wear is he! What news do you bare?" He realized the man could not answer due to his violent shaking. He placed the messenger on his feet again and apologized. "I'm truly sorry. What news do you have?"
The man looked at him grimly. "Uther had instructed me to give you this" The man gulped. "In the likelihood that he be lost in battle". He held a note sealed with the seal of the silver hand. Belgone took the note from the messenger and placed under his chest plate. "Ill read it later, thank you". Belgone said his voice clearly in pain. "Thats not all he had for you sir". The messenger said quickly. "No?" Belgone replied. The messenger gave a sharp whistle and three men came from around the inn struggling to carry a large bulk of cloth and rope. Belong walked to them slowly. "What is this?" Belgone quired.
"This was found on the ground after a great flash of light swept across the battle field. We thought it only right for you to have it". Belgone took the bulk from the men and found why they struggled with it. "It cant be" He gave the messenger a look of surprise. "Aye but it is". the messenger replied. Belgone unwrapped the bulk and held in his hands Uther's mighty war-hammer. It was a great hammer with the handle wrapped in blue cloth. The head has a large blue gem placed in it. The bottom of the handle has a large golden orb which acted as a counter weight. Belgone thanked the men and they returned to their business around town informing other people of deaths in the battle. Belgone returned to
the inn and sat at a table. He retrieved the letter from his under his armor. The note reads.
"Dear Belgone my brother in arms. This may seem like the end but it is only the beginning for us both. I have not fallen in battle but have chosen to lay my life down for the holy cause for some time. I ask only that you take yourself and follow my teachings in the art of combat and the holy way. Do not back down, never surrender, and by the gods don't forget me. I will return one day and you will find me until then I will guide you.
Your friend and brother in arms
~Uther~
From then on Belgone roamed the world doing his duty as a paladin protecting the week and saving the damned.
Around the age of 33 He did battle with a great lich . This was no ordinary lich this was a lich one of the most feared forces in the world. It was the great battle defending the Rigton bridge linking the two main trade roads between Rig city and Ton town. The bandits had grown strong over the years. What was thought to be peace was only the calm before the storm so to speak. Belgone was in Rig city when the attack started on a smaller trade town just across the bridge. The City had received word by messenger of the oncoming attack. Without enough time to fortify the great city, they decided to make a stand at Rigton bridge. Being a paladin Belgone was obligated to defend and protect. The battle ran smoothly at first. The bandits not having any armored units they mearly sent wave after wave of meat hitting the great wall that was the Rig city guard.
After hours of fighting the bandits unleashed their secret weapon. Their great leader Langdore the lich. Langdore was a great necromancer in life but in death he became more than great... he became a god! Arriving he arose the bodies of the once troublesome bandits and those of what few guards had been slain. The undead force that arose not only diminished moral but they showed no fear in battle being that they are no longer living. This is wear Belgone made his stand. He blessed his hammer and began the onslaught. Swing after swing bodies fell and the undead numbers diminished. After the undead had been vanquished he was to confront the lich himself.
Being that he was a lich, he was already just as dead as the minions he had just pummeled into powder. The lich however had free will and one last trick up his sleeve. He began to cast a great spell the likes of which had never been seen by Belgone. With his hair on the back of his neck standing striate he charged the lich and gave a blood curdling battle cry. This had made the lich break his spell or so Belgone had thought. At Belgone's surprise the langdore charged him head on into battle.
Belgone unleashed a mighty swing of his great war hammer. Langdore dodged this with ease and thrust his hands upon Belgone's chest. Belgone felt nothing therefore proving to himself Langdore's spell had failed. "be gone you unholy creature from hell!" Belgone shouted as he slammed the lich
onto the bridge with his free hand. Belgone arose his mighty hammer above his head. Just then Langdore said the words that would be stuck in Belgone's head forever more. "This isn't over paladin. I will corrupt you yet." With that Belgone replied. "May god have mercy upon your soul." he then brought his mighty hammer down upon the once great lich . The only thing remaining of his head is what was now smeared on Belgone's hammer.
Afterwords the Rig city guard gave him the nickname of "Lion heart" for his courage in the presence of one of the worlds greatest evils. But the lich's final words remained in Belgone's head. "I will corrupt you yet" Belgone repeated to himself over and over again. "What did he mean?" Weeks later he found out the very answer. Belgone was on his way to another town when he came before a small hidden cave in the side of a rock. He sensed a great evil from this place but he dare not go in without backup or any time of knowing what lay inside. He was brave but what he wasn't was foolish. He began to walk away his head thumped and caused him to fall to his knees. "What evil is this?" Belgone said aloud.
He then herd a voice he hoped he would never hear again. "This is me you insolent fool!" ..."Landgore you unholy thing. I banished you from this earth long ago." Belgone said. "Not true young paladin, you have been carrying me around for some time now. Inside your body!" The voice replied. What sorcery have you done to me?" Belgone questioned. The lich replied. "I have mearly taken residence in your body. Until you can find a way to dispel me I will remain hear forever more, causing chaos and mayhem however posable...through you!" Belgone thrashed about shouting. "I demand you expel yourself from me this instant!! I will not have such evil inside of me." He unknowingly rolled down a short hill and hit his head on a large rock. He lay there passed out until hours later he was found by a priest of a nearby town.
He awoke to the familiar smell of incense and the acid paper books were made from. After hearing the story of his finding and his time spent in the temple he thanked the priest and made his way to town for supplies. This is wear Belgone's adventure begins and his old life ends. With the lich mentally in towe he made his way down the path of redemption and righteousness.
