((After weeks of being inactive, KYMMI RISES FROM THE DUST AND TAKES THE KEYBOARD ONCE AGAIN. heh. Now to make an explanation why the last roleplay ended. x.x Sorry guys. I'll really try to be more active. I've got a comp at mom's place now so I really have no excuse and I have more time for stuff so ya. ><" Forgive me!!!))
Anykae sighed as she came near a small burbling brook. She kneeled near it staring at her pathetic expression. Anykae lifted her head towards the sky and sighed, taking in the cold morning air. She felt guilty and slightly upset from some time ago. She was having a conversation with a lovely full elf when Anykae had a thought occur to her and she felt the sudden need to abandon her. Anykae was worried anyone close to her was in danger. She couldn't explain it, but she'd rather not risk anything after what happened to her parents.
"Ugh. What am I to do....?" She groaned. She took a second closer look at her reflection. Her lovely skin was interrupted by the purplish moons under her grey eyes.
"Now I really do look like a loner," She whispered to herself. Maybe I'll become a hermit, just moving around when convenient....silently try to find clues to my dear parents' killer...or killers? Ugh. But I can't do much on my own... Anykae sat cross-legged and took out a small, yet beautifully decorated pouch. She took out several berries. The enchanted pouch kept anything fresh, yet even the sweet berries seemed to have no taste to Anykae. She tiredly looked up at the many branches that shielded her from the bright sun light.
"What oh what to do?" Anykae repeated, feeling defeated and without much purpose.

((OOC: Welcome back Kymmi. Hope you don't mind me joining with my new character )) "Watch out Brandus!" The warlock shouted as he released another spectacular looking, but in reality completely harmless, spell towards the "menacing" demon. Diving aside, the swordsman watched how the demon was hit by the spell, and was amazed at how much Bazgáhrk's acting had improved. If he hadn't known any better, he would have thought the demon was in real pain. "Any time now Oswin!" He shouted towards his companion, making sure he placed just the right amount of tension and weariness in his voice. "I can't hold him back fore..." The last part of his sentence was interrupted as the demon's attack knocked the air out of his lungs. Oh how he wished the damn thing would be a bit more careful with stunts like that. Ah well, judging from the gasps of the onlookers, the fight looked impressive. Which was of course, the whole point. Striking a dramatic pose, the warlock finished yet another incantation as he shouted "Begone foul beast of the underworld, I command thee!" And with a puff of smoke, some dramatic looking green flames and a ghastly scream from the demon, it was over. The villagers cheered, Oswin and Brandus were paid for "saving" the village and the next morning the duo left the village in search of the next hapless little village they could con. "Seriously though master Oswin." Brandus said. "Can't you make sure Bazgáhrk is a little more careful... that punch really hurt." Letting out a little snort the warlock replied to his companion. "Peh... he's being as careful as a Felguard can be. Stop being a sissy Brandus." "Right... then how about next time YOU be the one that gets the wind knocked out of him." Due to their little squabble they didn't notice Anykae, whom they almost bumped into, until she spoke to herself. "Good morning." Brandus started. "My apologies for not noticing you sooner my fair lady. I am Brandus and this is my companion..." Before he could go on however, Oswin interrupted him and with an aristocratic voice introduced himself. "My name is Bartholomew Franklin Henry Edward Robert James of Heavenshire." He paused a moment and then, almost as an after thought he added. "The third. Pleased to meet you." As Brandus sighed and shook his head in disbelief Oswin looked at him for a second before crossing his arms. "Oh alright!" He said sounding slightly peevish while pouting. "My real name is Oswin, happy now?" The last part was obviously aimed at his companion.

Anykae gaped. Looked like she really didn't have time for self-pity. She hated looking weak, especially in front of strangers, even some that seemed a bit strange. When was the last time she was addressed as 'Fair Lady?', never. She missed most of their conversation when she was in her on world.
Out of habit, she jumped back a few steps and her hand hovered over her blade for a second. She stared for a moment and decided they had no ill intentions. From what she knew, they appeared too be humans, and not all humans could be trusted from the start. Her position relaxed and she let them introduce themselves while she frowned. Listening to Oswin's first attempt at stating his name, she shot him a look of unbelief. How in the world would Bartholowmew Franklin Henry Whatever sound good to anybody? Still, she knew she shouldn't judge people based on their name.
"Ah. It's nice to meet you Brandus...and Oswin." Anykae stated automatically, folding her arms. She was still displeased to have been caught having a such a moment to herself. Still, she sweetly smiled to Brandus. "I'm known as Anykae."
This was wierd. She had to be kind to the travelers, if she was rude, she didn't know if she'd have the strength to regret it. You can't know what to expect in this kind of world. Anykae did feel a bit uncomfortable being with men who looked 30+. Maybe traveling alone was a bad idea. Er. What should I do though? They obviously expect to have some sort of conversation.
Anykae's quiet personality didn't help her quickly think of what to say. She felt awkward and pressured to say something...that wasn't ridiculously stupid....though when she looked at Bartholomew/Oswin.
Anykae forced herself to smile and look at Brandus again. "So what brings you here?" Was all she good say, hoping she good produce good conversation. For some reason, she worried if she looked at Bartho -Oswin, she wouldn't be able to take him seriously.
((x.x Everytime I type OSWIN it seems to be OSMIS. I dunno why but forgive me if I accidentally type that....Hmmm. She might actually call him that later but Idk.))

Still pouting, Oswin scanned the area and noticed there wasn't really anything to sit on. Well, not all that surprising really when you're in a forest. He muttered a short incantation, and a small field of glittering, grey nothingness appeared. Reaching into it face first, part of his body seemed to disappear. A second later it reappeared and he seemed to be trying his best to pull something out.
While Oswin was busy with whatever it was he was doing, Brandus gave the girl an apologetic smile. "Sorry about that, master Oswin is quite friendly when you know him... he just doesn't think his name is one befitting a warlock of his stature."
"I heard that!" Oswin shouted as his head popped back out from the grey nothingness. Giving one final pull, he fell backwards as the chair he had been pulling suddenly came lose or something. Scratching his head he sighed. "Guess it was stuck behind the table..." Was all he said as he placed it down, wiped some dirt of and sat down comfortably.
Crossing his arms once more he looked at Anykae, and before Brandus could reply, Oswin answered the question for him. "My a.s.s.istant and I where at a little village near here. We saved the population from a terrible, TERRIBLE I say, demon. Surely my real name must have sounded familiar? There aren't that many warlocks of my stature running around."
He continued to stare at the girl as he started stroking his goatee and it was almost as if his brown eyes where piercing her. "Brandus." He suddenly started, and his voice sounded quite kind. "How about we have breakfast with this lovely young lady? There seems to be something troubling her, maybe we can help. What do you say my dear?"

Anykae stared curiously at Oswin. Nothing she has ever seen concerning magic looked so rediculous. Elven magic always seemed beautiful, and she assumed even the darkest as such would also look beautiful when mastered. This, though, was very unexpected. "Ah." She responded understandingly to Brandus, who was the only one to appear sane. She continued to watch and gasped at the chair and flung out with the top half of Oswin's body. Is this what summoning is? She wondered never really having time to study Elven summoning. "Oh. Oh my. Well, I'm sure that village is quite thankful, sir." Anykae answered in disbelief. He seemed to have power, but Anykae would pay him to leave her, if she had any money at all on her. "I'm sorry. You can say I'm a bit sheltered where I come from." She apologized to him instantly as well. Somehow, Anykae felt like all her privacy and everything she knew was being invaded by the man in front of her who stroked his goatee so casually. Anykae gaped again at Oswin's suggestion. "AH! No no no! That's okay Mr.Osmis!!! I really don't want to cause any trouble for anyone! I -um- am not that anyway. Hahaha." Anykae attempted to allow the travellers to be on their way. She hoped to continue to be alone with her little stream. Now she seemed a bit insane. Maybe it was for the best. "You guys look busy and obviously you have a schedule and people need you. I wouldn't dare interrupts a hero's business."

Oswin perked up when Anykae called him a hero. "Hero... hero... I like the sound of that." He went on murmuring to himself. Going by the bits and pieces Anykae and Brandus could hear it sounded like he was trying to make up a new introduction for himself. Brandus closely eyed the girl and seemed to realize she wanted to be left alone.
"Master Oswin..." He interrupted the warlock carefully. "Maybe we should be on our way? She doesn't want to cause us any trouble after all." At that, the warlock looked at his companion in credulously. "NONSENSE! The girl needs help Brandus. What sort of heroes would we be if we ignored a beautiful young lady in her time of need!? Shuzgúb!" The last word he said as he snapped his fingers and with a puff of smoke, a tiny imp appeared next to him.
"Youcalledmaster?YouneedShuzgúbyesyesyesyeeeees?" It spoke so fast it was hard to follow. Oswin pointed at the grey nothingness that was still hanging there. "Yes I did, fetch the little fold out table, the sugar bread, three teacups and put a kettle of water on the fire would you?" The imp looked at him with big, wide eyes of anticipation while wringing his hands, obviously waiting to hear what his reward would be. After a minute of staring at each other a hint of anger crept into Oswin's voice. "Well? Get going already you little rat!" And with a sad look on his face, the imp jumped into the grey nothingness, disappearing from sight.
While Oswin was busy giving instructions to the imp, Brandus sighed and once more looked at Anykae with an apologetic look that seemed to say "Sorry, I tried". He took his scabbard from his back and sat down. "Sorry." He said. "When he is like this there is no helping him. You'd better just make the best of it because he won't leave until he's done now..."
As he said this, Oswin was seen grabbing stuff that was shoved out of the grey nothingness. Placing down the little fold up table, he placed the loaf of bread on it and grabbed a knife to cut off slices. Poking his head into the nothingness he appeared to be telling something to the imp and seconds after his head popped back into a view, a cup of butter appeared as well.
When at last a tray containing a pot of tea, and three teacups emerged he sighed. "Finally." Placing it down on the table, he poured himself some tea before turning to Anykae, holding one of the empty cups and the pot. "Tea my dear?"

Smiling to Brandus, seeming her only ally, she mouthed 'thank you' when Oswin turned away. Anykae already started considering how she could spend her day. Obviously there was a village not too far from here. She decided she needed a taste of what human civilization was like. She only knew stories her mother used to tell her, which weren't very descriptive and lacked any excitement. Anykae almost laughed thinking of her mother attempting storytelling.
Next, Anykae felt her heart sink at Oswin's objection. Uuuugggggghhhh!!!! I hope this doesn't go further than a bit of breakfast. Oh well. I wouldn't mind something more than berries I guess. Anykae nodded at Brandus's apologetic look. At least she didn't feel entirely hopeless. Anykae couldn't tell if Oswin was trying to be polite or casual and the little imp left her more confused.
Anykae sat down and tried to avoid too much eye contact with Oswin. She almost felt she was being studied or tested. I wish Rendylwin was here...Then at least he could think of a better way to get out of this. Oh at how he'd laugh at me now. Who knew something like this could ever happen. Anykae's gaze met Oswin's as she realized he offered her a drink. Never having tea before, she was tempted to refuse, not always liking to try new foods. Yet something told her that resisting only delayed the time when Oswin's and his crew would leave her.
"Yes, please. Thank you for your great kindness." She responded kindly with a slight bow of the head. She felt the need to be polite always to strangers. "It's awfully nice for you to stop for a stranger." She commented, hoping to get a response in which she could learn a bit more from him. She wondered just how prepared he'd be if Anykae happened to be someone else, perhaps a strong, vicious sorceress for example.

"It's awfully nice for you to stop for a stranger." Anykae told them. And Brandus had to agree. Of course, if she really was in trouble they would not have ignored it... but this girl seemed to be just fine and more importantly, it was obvious she wished to be left alone. Why would Oswin push the matter? Oh well, he had given up on trying to understand Oswin long ago. Grabbing a slice of the sugar bread, he waited for Oswin's answer almost as eagerly as Anykae did.
Taking a sip from his tea, Oswin continued to eye the girl. Those clothes and jewellery... he was sure of it. The girl was from Syhapa. Putting his cup down, he finally answered her. "Well, normally I wouldn't be as you have guessed it seems. Oh I would help someone if I saw he, or she, was in trouble, but under normal circumstances we would indeed not be sitting here and enjoying breakfast together. Brandus and I would have said good morning and be on merry little way." Brandus gave a slight nod at that. Obviously that was the course of action he had been expecting.
Looking Anykae straight in the eyes once more, Oswin went on. "However, you are from Syhapa are you not? Oh, don't try to deny it my dear. Your style of clothing and jewellery gives you away." There was no hostility, or anything threatening in his voice. Still, this was the first time he seemed completely serious since they had encountered Anykae. "Lovely village, friendly people and good food. Now, as for how I know of the village... about 50 or 60 years ago there was some kind of demon attacking it. It had killed a few of the sentries, and the barrier keeping the village hidden was partly gone. I helped them kill the demon."
At that Brandus laughed. "You make it sound like a mere coincidence now, but come on, I know you better than that master." A scowl appeared on Oswin's face. "No, it truly was a coincidence that time Brandus. Besides, never forget that even though I tend to resort to small time con jobs, I AM a very powerful warlock that should not be underestimated." There was no bluff in his tone, nor did it sound like he was trying to make himself look more important then he truly was.
"ANYWAY." He went on, casting a final angry glare at Brandus for interrupting his story. "I helped them defeat the demon and was allowed to spend some time studying their way of magic. I was even given an elven name, Curunielír." He paused for a moment, before he pointed at Anykae. "Look, you can tell me all you want, but those bags under your eyes almost touch the ground, and I spend enough time with those elves to tell when something is bothering one of them. They gave me a lot of aid and assistance during my time there so leaving you here without at least trying to help you would make me feel bad.... Besides... you remind of my friend Indwen. Indwen Eori Jadror. What a worry wart he was."

Anykae's eyebrows furrowed together as she tried to make sense of it all. So, normally this guy is a bit less annoying? Feh. What does he want? Anykae felt of feeling studied. Anykae looked towards Brandus, frowning. He seemed to admit that was the usual. Anykae held back a sigh of impatience. Oswin caught her breath when he spoke of Syhapa however. Anykae gasped at first shocked, then ashamed. A stranger could find her home better than she could. Oh well. She didn't plan on returning for some time. It was rare to hear of any humans entering the place, but it was true that those who practiced magic would stop to visit. For some reason, only the permanent humans or half elves were treated with disrespect. Ah...He must've realized by now I may not be full elf. Or....I guess my ears aren't showing...best to keep them covered. Anykae bit her lip, now suddenly tempted to put her hair behind her ears. Anykae listened closely, wondering how he found her village. She looked to the side, feeling uncertain. She looked him in his eyes again as he spoke. Wait a minute...50 years ago.... She closed her eyes and sipped on the strange tasting tea. WAIT! Anykae spat out some of the tea in more shock. "AH? Sorry, the teas a bit hot...but....50 years ago did you say?" Her eyes widened. He looked too young to be passed 60. "Ahh...Curunielír. You have indeed earned your place in our school books. Few haven't heard of you. Forgive me. I never expected to run into you and I never did much studying in that area." She excused the matter of Brandus's interruption. She'd rather believe, of course, that it was a coincidence, and anyone would know better than to try tricking a whole village of elves. Anykae was having a hard time recovering from all this shock. She attempted to look normal and unsurprised. Anykae lifted her buttered bread to her lips and took a bite. Suddenly, she was interested in what he had to say. She had a few questions of her own that needed answering. Anykae chewed and just about swallowed when Oswin mentioned Indwen Eori Jadror. FATHER! Anykae choked and coughed. She grabbed her tea and drank, then breathed out. "Kaaa....'Scuse me. Ah... Yes I...know him. Were you friends?" Anykae picked out words cautiously. Did he really know Indwen? And how much did he know? I wonder if he knew my mother too....Ah but she never told me how old she really was and she never changed around me....She have been alive back then, but....she never spoke about anyone like this guy. Of course, Anykae avoided the fact she needed help. She wasn't planning on admitting it just yet, but it seemed Oswin was more genius than she wanted to give him credit for.

Rubbing at one of the stains Anykae just made on his robe with her tea, he absent-mindedly corrected her. "Or 60. Somewhere along those lines. Either way." He smiled as he gave the rather cryptic and vague answer. "I'm older then I look." When she told him his name was written down in schoolbooks he seemed to start beaming with pride and shot a look at Brandus.
"SEE! I told you!" He exclaimed gleefully while Brandus couldn't do anything but sigh. He had to admit though, that with all the acts they always put on, he really had forgotten that Oswin was way more powerful then one would expect from a man that often acted like a... a... well... a spoiled child.
Listening to Anykae's question about whether he and Indwen had been friends, he once again looked at her with that penetrating gaze and started stroking his goatee. She was being cautious somehow. Indwen was more important to her then she let on he guessed. "Well... I can't speak for him of course, but yes, I consider him my friend. He was almost as fascinated in regular humans and their customs as I was in elven magic when we first met. Sometimes it was hard to study though because he would be bombarding me with questions. When I finally left he asked me if I would be willing to guide him to Tamasha. Somehow it seemed it had become his dream to go there at least once. We parted ways a few days after reaching the city... But, I am curious... as I said, you remind me of him and he seems more important to you than you are willing to tell. So what is your relationship with him?"

Anykae genuinely smiled and laughed at Brandus's and Oswin's exchange of emotions. Anykae had warmed up a bit more to this Oswin. She decided to leave the age thing alone. Maybe he's not such a bad guy after all. Not that I could stand this forever though... Anykae liked learning about Oswin without having to ask questions herself. It just made him seem a little more sincere.
"Ah haha. That sounds a lot like him." Anykae looked down and sadly smiled. "He's my father believe it or not. Probably why I reminded you of him. Thanks for telling me about that. He's never shared too many experiences with me. Always busy with the guard or focusing on something he found interesting." Anykae looked up at the sky. Father...You choose the weirdest friends.
Anykae sipped on her tea a bit more, allowing a slide show of memories to play in her head. She missed his warm smile ever so greatly. Now wasn't the time to mourn though. She had already gave herself time for that. She left when she was ready. Now was the time to be positive and she was sure her father wouldn't have approved her choice of direction nor that she hadn't allowed herself much happiness lately.
"Mmm. This tea. It takes some getting used to. It's not bad though...Does it have a name?" She looked back at Oswin curiously.

"Hmm he never told you much about himself? Sounds like him all right. Not one for telling story's... questions about things that interested him are another matter though... As for the tea, it's honey tea. I prefer earl grey myself but so far that little rat hasn't been able to tell one tea apart from the other. So when I send him for tea I'll have to make do with whatever he returns." He sighed and started muttering and cursing to himself about how useless that little "rat" was at times.
A smile appeared on his face and Brandus took over and, attempted to, clarify things for the young girl. "Master Oswin is talking about Shuzgúb, the little imp he summoned earlier. He is the only one small enough to full pass through the rift." He pointed at the grey nothingness. "I am no sorcerer so I know little about its workings, but master Oswin said it works by bending space or something. He learned it from a friend of his who has been dedicating his life to studying these things."
Dropping his voice to a whisper so Oswin, who was still cursing the little imp, wouldn't hear he continued. "But since it didn't hold any value for his research, master Oswin grew impatient and never learned how to control them that well. That one is connected to the kitchen in master Oswin's house. And while the rift is to small for us, the imp has no problems passing through it, so it can always fetch supplies for us. But like I said, I am no sorcerer so don't ask me how it works."
While Brandus focus turned back to his tea and breakfast, and Oswin was STILL muttering and cursing the imp's incompetence when it came to distinguishing one tea from another, Shuzgúb had actually come back through the rift and had slowly, and stealthily, crept up to Anykae. Looking at her with its big, begging eyes while its wringing its hands, it looked a tad sad. Though despite how obvious it was that the little imp wanted something, it was equally obvious he didn't dare make his presence known to Oswin.

"Er. Ya...." Anykae agreed with Oswin. She listened and nodded to his complaints about the rat and the tea. She finished her tea and shifted her eyesight towards Brandus as he took a turn to speak. Anykae found it a bit funny he'd try to talk behind his master's back, especially since it didn't seem too fun to serve him. Anykae figured the rat meant the imp thing, but let Brandus explain further, as she was curious about the weird alternate dimension floating in mid air.
Anykae's eyes narrowed as Brandus explained the impatience of his master. Impatience was a negative personality trait in her eyes. However, everybody seemed to posses an amount of it and not even Anykae was always patience. She didn't understand why he'd find mastering the bending of space not to be important to study longer, especially since he seemed to have longer than a normal human life.
"So is he satisfi-" Anykae started to whisper back, but suddenly found the imp at her feet. She looked at it and stared silently. She clenched her mouth tightly shut. It looks....oddly cute...somehow.... Anykae's heart dropped at the sight. Somehow it was convincing her it was needy, poor, harmless, innocent, and a number of other things. Anykae turned back to the table and sliced another bit of bread. She buttered it to a perfection, she looked to Oswin to make sure he was still in his own world and, without looking away, she slid it under the table towards the imp. She gave it a little shake, urging the imp to quickly take it.
"Sir, um, Oswin...Have you ever heard of a certain elixir that can extend life?" Anykae asked when Oswin seemed to be done with the current subject. She wondered if Oswin knew anything about her mother's studies, and possibly someone who'd want control over the rest of the elixir and it's studies.

With a nearly inaudible squeal of delight, the imp nabbed the piece of bread and started nibbling on it. All the while he kept casting glances at Oswin to make sure he wasn't found out. It's pointy tail was almost wagging like a dog's and it kept hopping from one leg to the other out of joy. He abruptly stopped all this when Anykae asked Oswin a question however, and took a more low profile stance as he continued his nibbling while glancing at it's master.
"Sir, um, Oswin...Have you ever heard of a certain elixir that can extend life?" Anykae asked causing Oswin to cast his eyes upwards as he started tapping his lips with his finger. "Life extending elixir... life extending elixir... it does sound familiar..." Brandus too seemed in deep thought. "Wasn't there a woman trying to create something like that master?" He asked at which Oswin perked up. "Ah yes! That woman. Uhm... Liz... Lizzy? No wait, Lizah! Lizah... Lizah... something." He finished shaking his head.
"I'm sorry, I can't remember her last name. Anyways, all I remember was that she was a sorceress of some renown. I never met her personally much to my regret. She was..." He gasped as he suddenly noticed Shuzgúb. The imp seemed wobbly, almost as if it was drunk. Oswin pointed at it as he jumped up. "Brandus quick! Pin him to the ground! Hurry!"
Oswin ran off a tad and hastily started drawing a circle in the sand while Brandus dove at the little imp. The imp made a sound as if it had the hiccups, and a blast of flame shot out at Brandus, barely missing the man and singing the tree it hit. Pinning it down, he made sure the imps mouth faced the ground and looked at Oswin. "Hurry master!"
Getting up, Oswin started chanting and moving his arms. Suddenly he stopped and started shouting. "Throw him in, throw him in!" The swordsman got up while keeping a firm grasp on the imp and then without regard for the little critters well being, tossed it towards the circle Oswin had just finished. As his body entered the circle, Oswin shouted a strange sounding word, and a wall of yellowish-gold magic appeared, locking the imp inside.
A sigh of relief was quickly replaced with a scowl. "Brandus, you know you can't just give him food! You know what happens!" Oswin said angrily. "My pardon master, but I did not give him anything. He must have tricked the girl." As Brandus said this, Oswin moved his glare to Anykae. Staring at her angrily for a second, a smile suddenly appeared on his face as he shrugged. "Oh well, he knows how to trick unsuspecting people. Anyway, little Shuzgúb here gets drunk when he eats or drinks stuff from this plane. I have trained him so that he can only take what is offered to him... but he remains a tricky little rascal."
Kicking the barrier he muttered something along the lines of "blasted little rat" and walked back to his chair. "Eh... what where we discussing again?" He asked.

Anykae listened intently but it seemed that no questions could really be answered about her mother. Oh well. I shouldn't bother him so much just to know a little more about my parents. Anykae gasped almost simultaneously with Oswin. She covered her mouth with her hand and immediately knew she was at fault.
The imp was thrown into another dimension where he could not serve Oswin much, but couldn't cause trouble while he was drunk off bread and butter. Anykae stared worriedly at Oswin and Brandus. She opened her mouth while Oswin was about to blame Brandus, but then Brandus seemed to speak the truth for her. Anykae felt her stomach knot and felt like how she would if she broke an expensive glass in front of her parents.
When Oswin looked towards her, she changed from pale to red. She was embarrased and slightly ashamed. She had meant for all to go well. She let him finish talking before she said anything. Anykae looked down guiltily and fiddled her thumbs around. I swear I'm bad luck Oswin seemed to blame the imp more than her however.
"Um. Nothing too important, but...I'm really sorry about that...it just....it's eyes..." Anykae tried to explain in response. She rubbed the back of her neck and smiled awkwardly. She noted to herself, never to attempt to fall for those big sad eyes again. She hated causing trouble for other people.
