Gadrai awaited, along with the animals. That was precisely and solely what he did, was wait. No thoughts of his own, no uncomfortable movements, no surprises, no attention to anything of note, either. He had spaced out once Bel went in, and waited in a mindless state. It was a pretty good thing for him to be mindless. If he were to actually think, chances would be that he'd get saddened, and depressed.
Someone or something mind taking him back to reality, please?

She walked among the flowers for another few more moments before she decided to go since she was beginning to feel weary from the days events. Plus since she had no more prayers until the morning, she just wanted to relax and forget about her duties, which she always did. It kept her sane.
Proceeding to the entrance, she was greeted by the animals who could now come up to her. Most of them just stared but a few brave ones came up for a pet. She laughed as a few wild cats began to walk along her legs, their fur tickling her. Her hands were also being licked by a foe, who was so adorable that Bel couldn't help but press her forehead against hers and laugh even more. This was one of the perks of being an earth goddess, practically all the animals loved you.
When the animals began to disperse and run off into the shadows, she stood for a few minutes waving to them before she turned around and walked straight up to Gadrai. With a smile on her face, she said.
"So, are you ready to go?"

Gadrai shook slightly with surprise, and turned to see Bel. Where had his mind gone? Where had the time gone? How long was she there for? He barely heard Bel speak, and it took a moment for him to find the words, but he was soon to affirm Bel. "Whenever you are." Then he began to think about Bel having to always having to do duties in the forest, and in a sense, being strictly trapped in the forest. He wanted to show Bel the peculiar ways of humans, and give her a taste of the rest of the world. For once, in a sense, he was impatient, and he was beginning to wonder about Bel; because he didn't want to leave her side, and few humans, forget merchants, ventured into the woods. His expression was mixed; the happiness of Bel being around clashed with feeling like some sort of future liability. Considering their near-miss experience, he feared the worst, should he get desire for Bel pumping again. He feared for her.

His delayed response and odd looking expression made her tilt her head slightly in confusion. She was about to ask him what was wrong when he replied back to her, making her forget about asking. Plus, even if she did ask what was wrong, what could she do? She was not experienced in areas like that, helping or listening to people like that, due to her post. Most of the time, as selfish as it was, she only really cared about herself and the forest. It was how she had lived all of her life, until she had met Gadrai of course.
Nodding to his response, she took a leap forward followed by a slow stroll, stretching out her arms with each walk. She felt wrecked from the days events. As per usual, it was a busy day, though it was considerably busier than any other day. Nevertheless, she tried to not let her weariness bring her down, she still took energetic steps and had a smile plastered on her face. Bringing down her arms again, she called back to Gadrai.
"So, what are we going to do now?"

Gadrai blinked, not expecting the question. His answer was simple, but by the pace and tone, you could tell something was on his mind, and it was really eating at him. "I... ...have no idea..." He wandered over to Bel, his pace far less energetic. It was nearly dead obvious something was bothering him, though the inobvious parts were that he was reluctant to bring it up, and yet he was still thinking it a necessary thing to discuss. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Ok, something was definitely up with him. What exactly, well she wasn't a mind reader, so she couldn't tell. And, even though she wanted badly to find out what was wrong with him, she had no idea how to go about it. Her inexperience of situations like this was showing.
"Ah..." With the awkwardness level rising quickly, she decided to settle it, although the idea she had in mind was so childish that she almost cringed at it. Stopping, she turned around to him and stared at him, hands crossed. Her eyebrows were pointing down with displeasure and her lips were sticking out in yet another one of her pouts. Tapping her foot a few times, she stayed silent, waiting for him to respond with what was bothering him. How he was supposed to know straight away that it was what was bothering him which was bothering her and causing her to react like this, well who knew. That was how her mind had made it, so she hoped it would happen, or else she would just look stupid.
[[ Dude, shush, it wasn't! U:< ]]

Gadrai heard Bel tap her foot, and he looked up to see her pouting, and looking unimpressed. He hung his head, knowing that he was at fault, but not knowing what he could do. "I'm sorry..." Hair began to get in front of his face, and he didn't even seem to care. He was concerned about Bel, but didn't want to cause her to be so saddened, and now she was angered - not exactly a good time to talk, now.

Ok, not the reply she had hoped for. In fact, his apology caught her completely off guard and caused her mouth to drop open slightly. Yup, she was an idiot. A complete and utter idiot. Now what was she going to do?
Uncrossing her arms and scratching the back of her head, she then began to trace a finger around her left branch as she thought. After a few seconds of doing this, she decided another method of dealing with this, pretty much the polar opposite of what she had done a few moments ago. Walking up to Gadrai, she placed her childlike hands on either side of his face and brought his head up. As she had feared, his face looked completely distressed, making her guilt triple. Taking a slow deep breath, she asked in a concerned tone.
"Gadrai....what's wrong? Don't even try apologizing your way out of it or anything."

Gadrai was somewhat set aback by the flip-flop change, but it seemed like Bel was more willing to listen. "Are... ...all the days of your life so full of rites, rituals, and prayers? Will there..." He swallowed a lump, as he got a bit more direct than he wanted to. "...be time... ...for us?" He felt exposed again, but not as light as last time he had this feeling. Now, he felt like everything - down to the very foundation he came from - was stuck in a grove and had the sunlight beating down on it all. He was scared, and his expression fully reflected it.
(( Aah, poor, poor Gadrai... ...he'll hate to hear the bad news, but still love Bel. ))

Even though she had expected he was upset because of something along those lines, the way he said it and his expression, well it made her suddenly feel... alone. Why she felt like that, she had no idea. Perhaps it was because he had no idea why she did what she did, every single day without fail, and he never would. He would never be able to truly understand her. She could hardly understand herself, her desires, what she wanted, what she hated. She had always followed the gods path, not caring about anything too deep in herself, only thinking of when she was or wanted to sleep or something very simple. Nothing like this. Snapping out of her thoughts she had noticed that she had taken a few steps away from Gadrai and her arms were by her sides, lifeless. Why did she feel so odd about his question? It was a simple answer wasn't it? She already knew the answer, yet she had difficulty saying it. Perhaps she was scared to. Scared that he would run away, or by him being here she would miss a prayer, and things that she didn't even want to think about would happen. Her mind was so muddled. But before she could think too deeply, she had to give him an answer. After, she would worry about those things. So, avoiding his eye contact, mostly because his expression pained her, to see him so scared like that, she replied, her voice slow, voicing out every word. " There'll never be enough time for us, it'll be like this everyday, rushed. Sudden. If you don't like this, then you might as well leave. I've been doing the same thing for 200 years, Gadrai, and I can't back out now. I have no choice, my own feelings and desires are meaningless to the forest. I'm a puppe--" Her voice stopped there. She didn't want to finish that sentence so quickly moved on. " I won't hold it against you if you want to leave, I'm supposed to be alone, it's my duty. Until I die." Her voice began to become very formal, as if she were addressing someone she had just met. Like she should. Stepping aside, she bowed her head. She was expecting him to leave, and so was preparing herself for it. [[ Yaaaaay, super long post which is really boring and confusing and yaaaaaaay. \(ou o;)/ ]]

Gadrai took a loathing expression, yes, but the irony was that it would never be directed at Bel. "A puppet? The Wood is making you into its puppet? Leaf and Star forbid, the gods and their cruelty... ...Bel... ...despite your fate, I wouldn't forsake you... ...I can't..." He collapsed to his knees, now in tears. He was devastated, but he would stay with Bel until whatever bitter end. "I still love you... I... ...I'm sorry for making you worry..." His eyes welled up with tears. This is a sickening ridicule of life, and a complete farce! Then he began to speak, his thoughts intense. It didn't sound like he meant to speak, but he was so ill at ease, it had slipped. His tone was angered, and rising. "I swear to you, gods, should you hear me, I vow, even with my life, to find a way to release Bel from your grasp. She is not living, and if I must breathe life into her, then so be it, I am willing, here and now, to forgo half... ...no, three quarters of my remaining lifespan to have a year with Bel!" He shook his head. "But no... ...no god truly listens to a mortal..."
((Make an exception, since Gadrai is only 196 years old, and still has over 800 years left? 600 years is a very, very high price to pay, and in exchange, he wishes a year - just one - with Bel.))

"N-No I'm not a puppet!" She said this quickly, with a slight bit of hysteria, as if by even saying the words that she was going to be punished. To question the gods, surely that would be in breach of a law, though she had no way to tell.
Hearing his plea to the gods made her own tears well up and spill down her face. Why would he risk so much for her? Shaking her head, she spoke, her voice shaking as she did so.
"Gadrai...please...stop. I did not mean what I said before about me being a puppet. I am not a puppet. I do what I do because I love it. I have been raised by the forest and the creatures which dwell here, I wouldn't be able to go, even if I wanted to....so please don't plead for something that would take away from your own life." Stopping, she took a break as she wiped her nose, her tears still coming down her face, causing her to hiccup slightly and sniffle. But, even though she was still sniffling, she continued, her hands trailing to the branches on her head.
"These branches are proof that I cannot leave. I'm not human Gadrai, and I never will be. The blood of a goddess runs in me. I wouldn't be able to live like a human...or mortal. My destiny is to stay here and pray, until I die from whatever cause. There's no need to feel sorry for me or to apologize or to plead to the gods. It is the least I can do for the animals that raised me and the trees which protected me..." Seeing his anger, she walked towards him, dropped to her knees and wrapped her arms around him, placing her head on his shoulders. Even to hug somebody, she had rarely felt this embrace, only by hugging her family of animals. Murmuring into his shoulder she said.
"The gods will listen, they always do. But they won't feel sympathy because you are involved with me, their daughter....now please stop Gadrai, there's no need for all of this. It is a fate that I have accepted...we'll figure out something."
[[ Only 196 years old, pfft. :'D Gosh, he really cares for her, so sweet <3 Yeah Bel is being a total lick up to the goddess and everything because, well, she's terrified of them. She always says great things and how she accepts her fate and all that, but she says all that because she can't really voice her opinions because its unheard of for a goddess to question the forest and blah blah. So yeah, Gadrai won't hear anything about 'OH GOD FML I JUST WANT TO LEAVE I HATE IT ALL SO MUCH'
Oh and sorry if this post was all over the place, was really distracted OTL ]]

Gadrai whimpered into Bel. "Why make something close to ridicule of your life, Bel? We elves have said "from the moment they are born, every living being has the right to live". From... ...the way you sound, and I don't blame you for such... ...you fear the greater forces... ...though it would occasionally make sense for me to travel now and again, it involves leaving you, Bel..." He sighed again, at a loss of words. "...I'm sorry..."
((Since you're going away soon, I think we should get ready to finish the night up, and then let it get buried until you're back. At that point, maybe we should make this open.))

As he finished his words, tears began to spill down again. Why was she crying so much? Even she couldn't figure it out.
"This is the closest to living that I can get. That I can ever get, there is no point in fighting it. Like I said, I accept it. And you're an idiot for not leaving right now, going on with your life instead of sticking with me...."
[[ Oh god, don't remind me OTL I'm going to presume that from Wednesday on they'll /hopefully/ be light on homework so I can get on this weekend. Again, I say hopefully.
Mmm? What'cha mean by open? Just leave it until whenever I can reply or something? ]]

Gadrai sighed. "I would call you the very same for saying that being able to live like any other being is impossible... ...but... ...perhaps you're right, and I'm being too optimistic, or forceful..." He sighed. "Damn it... ...No other forest I have ventured into has one like you, though." And moments after saying it, he realized that it was probably the biggest mistake to utter the statement, and he didn't try to cover it up. Now she might actually doubt her 'role'... ...blast it, Leaf and Star...
((By open, I mean so others come in, but the status isn't popping up as such until you're back. Also, you'll be missed; pretty sorely.))
