Raine slowly awoke, Richard standing above her with another demonic blast ready.

"Awww Is Raine scared to die? You shouldn't be, you'll join your parents, your friends and that boyfriend of yours after I destroy you."

Raine growled, holding her sword before her. "I'm fine Samuel."

"You wont be for long."

He pushed himself to his feet, his whole body shaking. He collapsed again. A burning sensational flowing through his viens. He finally stumbled to to feet, wincing in pain.

"Get out." He growled, determined not lose. "Get out now!" He glanced down at Raine, throwing her a reasuring smile he himself wasn't too sure about.

Raine blinked at his determination as Richard frowned.
"Tch. No lowly human such as yourself has any authority over me. You weak spineless leech. I will not leave until Laraine is either dead, or turns herself in for her execution."

"Either way I die." Raine replied sarcastically. "I'd rather live."

He formed demonic energy within his hands again and Raine was ready this time. As he was forming the blast, she leapt up and drove her sword into his stomach.

Startled, he stumbled back. Blood was flowing from the wound and he scowled at them.

"You will pay for that." He vanished.

Raine fell to her knees, breathing hard. But she glanced at the man behind her and had to ask. "Why? Why did you risk your life over this?"

It all happened too fast. One minute he was there the next Raine was on her knees and the strange man had gone. He collapsed, landing on the floor. He forced himself to breath, though his troat seemed tight and burned as he took in cold air.

"Huh? Oh. This town is also like a home to me and I don't wanr know what would have happened if he had taken you..so I fought..." He sighed, staring up at the sky.

Raine's eyes widened slightly at this and looked down. After a few moments she got up and walked over to him, extending her hand and looking away slightly. "You really could have gotten killed you know. I was worried. I'm not really worth so much trouble. Many people have died because of me.."

Samuel smirked, taking hold of her hand. He gave it a tug, pulling her down. "I know but I couldn't let you fight him on your own." He replied, glancing over at her.

Raine was surprised as he pulled her down next to him. She looked at him and smiled softly. "Thank you Samuel. Its been a long time since I met someone who wasn't afraid of the death and danger I bring. But I really don't want to endanger anymore lives because of me. I have enough blood on my hands." She thought of her boyfriend, Danny. She clenched her fists and fought back the tears. "And yet I promised that I wouldn't let them kill me. Heh, I imagine it must seem I have a very twisted family life."

"Then we'll leave first thing in the morning." He suggested, turning his head so he could see her face. "You shouldn't blame yourself for others' death's. It's not always your own fault." He added, returning her smile.

He smirked, shaking his head. "No course not. It's just you and your family have a few issues." He laughed, meaning it as a joke.

"That's a understatement." She smiled and looked up at the sky."Sometimes I wish I was never born...y'know? I've lost so much and I wonder what peoples lives woulda been like without me.."

"You shouldn't think that. I know what my life would have been like if I hadn't met you: I'd probably still be looking through my old village.." He sighed, smiling lightly. He sat up slowly, careful not to hurt himself again.

Raine blinked and then looked over to him as he sat up. "You all right? You look hurt." She brushed her hands against his shoulders to steady him. She gazed at him, as if trying to determine where he was hurt.

"We should get back to the room. You don't look so well." She was worried that he would be severely hurt because of her.

"I'm fine." Samuel muttered, closing his eyes in pain as she passed a large bruise on his back. He smiled and pushed himself to his feet. "Just a few bruises." He added, noticing the worried look on her face.

"I'll be fine in thr morning." He said, tucking his sword back onto his belt.

Raine nodded and got up herself, brushing away the dirt that clung to her pants. She started to walk back towards the place they were staying. She wondered why Samuel seemed so kind to her. She had rarely seen this kindness before. It had been a long time. She closed her eyes, remembering her boyfriends last few moments. It made it all the harder to bring others into this mess.

Samuel winced as he took a few steps soon forcing himself to overcome the pain. He wanted to know what she had actually done to anger the man. He thought she had betrayed them, but he didn't know how.

Raine turned back to him, seeing that he seemed in pain. She frowned and continued to walk, wondering if he would make it. She slowed down, keeping his pace and unsure about what to say to him. She put the hood of her cloak over her head to hide her face from view.

"Samuel...I....nevermind." She looked away, finally making it to the motel.
